Both husband and wife are free from pain

Six months ago, the struggle to get in and out of bed had just become too much. Both for 61-year-old Bent Vogn, who suffers from sclerosis - and for his wife Elin, who is his caregiver. Every transfer was heavy, difficult, and stressful for both.
They decided to rent 2 beds. A RotoBed®Change with rotation for Bent, and a RotoBed®Classic for Elin – similar, only without rotation. They stand side by side and look like a nice double bed, which is also important, emphasizes Bent.
- The bed itself is nice. It doesn't look like a nursing bed, and that's something all our guests comment on. I don't want pity, and we make a virtue of our home not looking like a home for a disabled. Things must look as ordinary as possible, he says.
Most important, however, is that it is no longer a struggle for Bent to get in and out of bed.
- I used to have pain in my lower back and my back - it's logical, because a twist happened every time Elin had to pull my legs over the edge of the bed. I no longer have those pains at all, says Bent.
Elin also feels better, as she no longer has to pull and push to help her husband in and out of bed:
- I can clearly feel it. I have been struggling with my shoulders and back and had to follow a back training program and have massages for the pain. I don't need that at all anymore.
A few months after renting, the couple decided to buy the beds, after they had seen the impact on their daily lives.
- For us, the most important thing is that we can manage ourselves. Together, the two of us.

The French connection
These days, a delegation of more than 20 nursing home managers from France is visiting Denmark to learn more about Danish welfare technology and the Danish welfare system.
As part of the program, a RotoBed® was presented by Monsieur Bananier from our French distributor, La Centrale Medicale.
The visit is part of a Franco-Danish alliance overseen by the Danish embassy in Paris. Hooray for knowledge exchange and cooperation between countries and people.

A small island with big ambitions

What an experience for the RotoBed® team! We spent two days educating the care personnel at Læsø, a small Danish island in the Kattegat waters, known for exquisite spiny lobsters, charming houses with seaweed roofs, and a production of naturally extracted salt by methods dating back to the 12th century.

Like most western societies, Læsø is struggling to provide enough care staff during a demographic trend towards more elderly people and fewer to care for them.
As a solution, the small municipality has chosen to invest in welfare technology aids of several kinds - including rotating beds from RotoBed®.

28 beds have been transported to the island and the implementation process is underway. First step was educating the care personnel and the experience was excellent. We only experienced positive and enthusiastic employees who could immediately see which citizens could benefit from a RotoBed®.

Thank you to Læsø for the trust - the RotoBed® team looks forward to following your experiences with the beds!

What makes our work worthwhile
To receive a message like this is a unique pleasure for us who work at RotoBed®:
“Thank you so much for your tremendous help with the Rotobed®. It finally arrived in Aventura and my mother has been sleeping on it for the past week.
I cannot tell you the stress relief this has put on my father and my mother’s caretakers as the weight to shift her from the bed to the wheelchair has been alleviated.
This will not only increase my mother’s life expectancy and comfort, but also those around her. Family is a treasure and for us who live all over the globe, our parents are two nuggets of gold.
You have been tremendous and this means a lot to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

Next step Japan?
Today we are presenting RotoBed at a Danish-Japanese technology conference in the city Vejle. Like most industrialized countries, Japan is facing a growing elderly population and a lack of caregivers. Welfare technology holds one of the answers to this challenge, and we are grateful for the interest. Maybe our next distributor will be from Japan?

Now life is much easier

Spinal stenosis, pain, difficulty getting out of bed. This was the situation for Franz Joseph Eilert, Germany. So his daughter looked for a bed with standup-aid:

“As a physiotherapist, the RotoBeds® immediately convinced me. The bed is comfortable, and its functions bring many advantages in everyday life. Not only that my father sleeps well in this bed. Getting in and out is easier for him. He now reads his books comfortably in bed after his afternoon nap. You never know what's to come. If he would ever need more extensive care, this bed will be of great help to the caregivers due to its functionality.”

Thank you, Petra, for sharing your and your father’s experiences!

A win-win for both parties
The healthcare staff are invaluable, every day caring for others. We are happy when our beds can help both citizens and staff, and when a caregiver takes the time to write something like this:

I cheer whenever I go to help citizens with this type of bed 🤩 it's a huge help, citizens master much more themselves and my shoulders, back and knees have been greatly relieved ❤️ it's really a beautiful win-win for both parties 😊

Politicians have major impact on the lives of elderly or disabled

Election for the Danish parliament is coming up in a few weeks, and today we had an interesting visit from Jens Jonathan Steen, running for election for the party Socialdemokatiet. Many western countries, including Denmark, are challenged by the demographic development with a growing number of elderly and fewer people to care for them. We at RotoBed® were glad to get to opportunity to explain how Welfare Technologi can be part of the solution to this problem.

This bed was exactly what we needed

Seven years ago, Irma Overgaard’s husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Day by day he weakened, and Irma had to be the stronger of the two. Every single night she would get up 4 or 5 times to help her husband Erik go to the toilet.
- It was really hard work. I had to lift his legs, pull them over the edge of the bed, then pull him to a standing position. In the end I was so tired; I just couldn’t go on, she says.
Exhausted, Irma started looking for solutions. She searched the internet for a bed for people with Parkinson's and found the RotoBed®.
- It was exactly what we needed. That bed could do everything that I would otherwise get up to do many times each night. It was SO nice to just press a button – and I no longer had to get up in the middle of the night.
The couple benefited from the bed for half a year before Erik unfortunately fell ill and died. But even though Irma wished she had known about the RotoBed earlier, she is still happy about the relief it brought the last six months of her husband's life.
- It was during that period that we needed it the most and I really don't know what we would have done without that bed!

New Irish RotoBed® distributor with a big heart

We are so happy that Ireland is now on the growing list of countries with a RotoBed® distributor. A warm welcome to “Care to Comfort”, based in Dublin and specialist in electric adjustable beds. Led by Yvonne Cassidy and Martin Deasy, Care to Comfort works closely with individuals, hospitals, GPs and other healthcare professionals to identify people who might benefit from a care bed. Their logo, a bed with a headboard shaped as a heart, describes their approach to all customers. As Martin and Yvonne say:
“We have personal experience of caring for people in our family, and we understand what many of our customers are going through. That’s why we feel it’s so important to look after our customers, to show that we understand what they need so that we can support them to live independent, healthy lives.”

WE LOVE WHAT WE DO, WHEN......we receive an email like this one from a loving son, living in Europe, who got his mum in USA a RotoBed®.

"Thank you so much for your tremendous help with the RotoBed.
It finally arrived in Aventura and my mother has been sleeping in it for the past week.
I cannot tell you the stress relief this has put on my father and my mother’s caretakers, as the weight to shift her from the bed to the wheelchair has been alleviated.

This will not only increase my mother’s life expectancy and comfort, but also those around her. Family is a treasure and for us who live all over the globe, our parents are two nuggets of gold. I have not been able to see my mother in over a year due to Corona and now that she is getting her second vaccine I plan on going there next month. I simply want to hold both of them, as these days we are living are limited and precious in so many ways. "
