The last few months, we have had the pleasure of having Gijs, who is studying International Engineering at Summa College Eindhoven, as our intern in the R&D department.

During his time, he has been working on developing solutions to improve the quality control system with 3D printing and automation. Being present at the Evosep Office every day, Gijs has appreciated the mix of both a commercial office culture and hands-on workspace environments. He has enjoyed working on larger systems that involve multiple components simultaneously.

In his own words: “It’s nice to learn how to create larger systems since the challenges are quite different from those of smaller systems. Dealing with multiple challenges at once and transitioning from one small problem to more complex ones forces you to solve and keep track of different projects and parts that need to work together.”

He also adds that working on “real-life” projects that add value for our colleagues and the company is a great feeling. Here at Evosep, we share the same appreciation for having such dedicated colleagues on our team.

Five days to travel across four cities in China might seem ambitious but it was well worth it!

Last week, our team went to China to engage with KOLs, MS vendors, and IVD customers. It was especially inspiring to visit the π-Hub project in Guangzhou and hear about their vision to create the proteomics navigator of the human body.
In Hangzhou we also had the opportunity to co-host a seminar with Tiannan Guo at Westlake University, where we witnessed a great turnout and an engaged audience.

The proteomic landscape in China looks bright and we are looking forward to following their journey.

Can high-throughput clinical benefit from automated sample preparation?

Anders Kverneland, MD & Postdoctoral Researcher at CCIT - Center for Cancer Immune Therapy, Denmark, Herlev Hospital and University of Copenhagen evaluated just that.

He has adopted our fully automated protocol for integrated sample digestion and Evotip loading as part of a workflow to discover the effects of cancer immune therapy on the proteome in metastatic melanoma patients.

With the increased sensitivity and shortened analysis time due to modern mass spectrometers, sample-preparation remains a bottleneck and source of variability when studying large cohorts.
