Incorporate elements that could infringe on local laws or regulations into your work. If the work is copied and distributed, the infringing party may face consequences under the relevant laws.
Precedent
Some creators, including Japanese manga artists, have reportedly used this tactic to protect their work from unauthorized copying and infringement.

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has developed AI-powered music generation services. There are two notable initiatives:
Doubao AI Assistant:
Doubao, an AI assistant developed by ByteDance, offers a music generation feature. Users can input keywords or custom lyrics and select the desired music style, atmosphere, and vocals to create a song.
Ripple AI Music App:
ByteDance has also launched Ripple, an AI-powered music creation app with a virtual audio-editing studio.

ByteDance employs various technologies and strategies to generate music in its AI music generation tools:
Autoregressive Language Models and Diffusion Models:
In tools like Seed-Music, autoregressive language models generate audio symbols step-by-step, while diffusion models clarify music through denoising.
Training data:
The AI models are trained on extensive music data. For example, the MeLoDy model was trained on 257,000 hours of music data.
Multimodal Inputs:
Seed-Music uses a three-module architecture (representation learning, generation, and rendering) to generate music from multimodal inputs such as text descriptions, audio references, or sheet music.

ByteDance continually optimizes and enhances its AI algorithms and models.

California AI Transparency Act’s Role
SB942 represents a significant step toward regulating AI-generated content by emphasizing transparency and accountability within California. Compared to global AI regulations, SB942 shares common goals with frameworks like the EU AI Act and the OECD AI Principles but differs in scope and enforcement mechanisms. While SB942 primarily focuses on content provenance disclosures, other regulations globally encompass broader aspects such as data privacy, ethical standards, and risk-based governance. As AI technologies continue to evolve, the interplay between state-level regulations like SB942 and comprehensive international frameworks will shape the future landscape of AI governance.

As AI systems increasingly generate music, protecting the rights of original creators becomes critical. The California AI Transparency Act can play a pivotal role in ensuring AI-generated music adheres to copyright laws by requiring transparency about the origins of content and how it was generated. For the music industry, AI services that produce music based on existing works must disclose the source material they have learned from, making it easier to trace the use of copyrighted music.

The Act recognizes original music creators by mandating that AI-generated content include provenance disclosures. This transparency is key to ensuring that the original artists and rights holders are properly credited and compensated whenever AI systems rely on copyrighted music for training. Public AI detection tools, as required by the Act, could further empower rights holders to identify when their work has influenced AI-generated content, creating an additional layer of accountability.

In this evolving landscape, the California AI Transparency Act provides a pathway to safeguard music copyright in the age of AI, ensuring that original creators are fairly compensated for the work AI models learn from and use in generating new music.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬!

Reflecting on another year, I’m reminded of the incredible pace at which digital tools have evolved to help us harmonize our professional and creative lives.

In today’s dynamic startup ecosystem, entrepreneurs face a landscape that is simultaneously more accessible and more complex. Yet, one principle remains unchanged: creative minds deserve their fair share of the value they generate.

Content is the backbone of the Internet. Without it, the digital world as we know it would not exist.

As Alfons Karabuda is saying, 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐.

Without the Internet, the innovations we now take for granted—whether social media, crypto communities, decentralized finance, AI tools, or chatbots—would never have had the chance to thrive.

So, kudos to the visionaries, creators, and innovators who continue to push boundaries and shape the future of digital innovation.

I am looking forward to another incredible and productive year!

I just stumbled over A Clockwork Orange, a disturbing peek into the future.
The scenario in A Clockwork Orange, in which the main character, Alex, undergoes a controversial psychological conditioning technique to reform his violent behavior, raises thought-provoking questions about free will, morality, and the potential misuse of technology.

While the film depicts a dystopian future, some parallels can be drawn to the current landscape of AI-generated music and the challenges surrounding copyright and fair compensation. And, of course, I will use NIM's technical platform to make my case: it is a challenge that we urgently need to address...

Just as the "Ludovico Technique" in A Clockwork Orange aimed to modify Alex's behavior by exposing him to disturbing imagery, AI algorithms can analyze vast amounts of existing music metadata to generate new compositions. This raises concerns about the potential exploitation of original creators' intellectual property and the need for proper attribution and compensation.

As with any powerful technology, misuse or unintended consequences are risks. Just as the "Ludovico Technique" in A Clockwork Orange raised ethical questions about the extent to which an individual's free will should be manipulated, AI in music generation prompts discussions about the boundaries of creativity, originality, and artistic expression.

Platforms must implement robust governance mechanisms, dispute resolution protocols, and community participation to protect copyright owners' rights and interests. Transparency, accountability, and adherence to ethical principles are vital to fostering trust and preventing the abuse of AI-generated music.

While A Clockwork Orange's dystopian world serves as a cautionary tale about the potential misuse of technology and the erosion of individual autonomy, it also highlights the importance of proactively addressing the challenges posed by emerging technologies like AI in the music industry.

NIM's white-label services offer a promising approach to ensuring fair compensation and protecting the rights of copyright owners in the era of AI-generated music. NIM enables copyright owners/holders to assert ownership, track usage, and receive fair royalties when their works are used to train AI models or generate new songs.
However, ongoing vigilance, collaboration, and ethical considerations are necessary to balance innovation and preserve artistic integrity.

https://musically.com/2024/05/16/beat-check-music-rightsholders-reach-their-or-what-moment-with-ai-2/
NIM's white-label solution aims to address several key issues in the ongoing debate around AI-generated music:

Rights Management:
NIM's technology platform is designed to give music rights holders more control over how AI systems license and use their intellectual property. This could reduce the applicability of fair use and safe harbor defenses often invoked by AI companies.

Licensing Framework:
The solution seeks to establish a transparent system for AI companies to properly license high-quality music data for training purposes while ensuring that rights holders are fairly compensated. The goal is to foster a sustainable AI music ecosystem that respects intellectual property rights.

Legal Protections:
By leveraging Wyoming's DAO LLC laws, NIM aims to provide enhanced legal protections for musical works and streamline rights management compared to traditional copyright approaches.

Royalty Payments:
The platform enables automated royalty payments to rights holders based on usage to reduce administrative overhead and ensure timely compensation.

Ownership Records:
NIM maintains a permanent, immutable record of ownership and licensing terms for each musical work on the platform, which could help prevent or resolve ownership disputes.

NIM's stated approach is to seek alignment between the interests of the music industry and AI companies rather than pursuing an adversarial or litigious path. The company's vision is to give rights holders greater transparency, control, and compensation while providing AI companies access to properly licensed, high-quality music data.
The proposed solution aims to balance the protection of creators' rights with the potential for AI to drive innovation in music.

Udio, an AI music platform, generates songs at a rate of 10 per second by learning from existing music. This raises the question of how copyright owners of the original songs can receive fair royalties when their copyrighted creativity is used to train AI models and create new songs.

NIM (New Internet Media) provides a solution to this challenge through its white-label services and proprietary technology platform:

Copyright Registration: NIM enables copyright owners to register their metadata as musical DNA using a legal structure that establishes clear ownership and protects intellectual property rights.

Metadata Staking: The registered metadata is staked on NIM's white-labeled platform, validating ownership and authenticity. This staking process generates rewards, creating a direct monetization opportunity for the metadata.

Licensing and Tracking: The structured musical DNA is licensed to AI companies for training music models. NIM's technology ensures accurate tracking of metadata usage and facilitates fair royalty payments to copyright owners.

AI Song Generation and Provenance: When an AI model generates a new song, NIM's system analyzes the metadata provenance, identifying the original songs and copyright owners that influenced the AI composition.

Royalty Allocation and Distribution: NIM's royalty allocation algorithm calculates the distribution of royalties based on each original song's metadata contribution. Royalties are automatically paid to the copyright owners through NIM's platform.

Commercial Licensing and Revenue Sharing: AI-generated songs are licensed for commercial use. The revenue is shared between AI model developers and original copyright owners based on customizable agreements facilitated by NIM's platform.

Reporting and Dispute Resolution: NIM provides transparent reporting on metadata usage and royalties earned. The platform also offers dispute resolution mechanisms to protect the rights of copyright owners.

NIM's white label solutions combine the benefits of a legal structure for copyright protection with its advanced technology platform to enable music copyright owners to safeguard their intellectual property, monetize their valuable metadata, and receive fair compensation in the era of AI music generation.

By leveraging NIM's system for tracking metadata usage, analyzing AI song provenance, and allocating royalties, copyright owners can effectively monetize their music metadata and ensure fair compensation when their works are used in AI-generated compositions.
