يواصل فناننا المقيم هاشل اللمكي أبحاثه وإنتاجه خلال إقامته التي تستمر لمدة شهر في مؤسسة أرض كجزء من إقامة أرض الدولية. نحن متحمسون للمحادثات والزيارات والتطورات القادمة المتعلقة بمشروعه حتى نهاية سبتمبر!

Our artist in residence Hashel Al Lamki has been carrying out his research and production process throughout his one-month residency as part of our ARD International Residency Program. We are looking forward to the upcoming conversations, visits and developments of his project until the end of September!

We invite you to the eleventh meeting of ARD Meetings which will take place on Sunday, September 8th at 7:00 pm. Continuing the discussion on the trend of identity and geography within the arts, Farida Youssef and Monica Hirano propose a debate on the concept of the Loss of Experience in the perception of art—from its conceptualization and production to its consumption. How does the unceasing necessity of finding and constructing meaning around experience make one disregard the connection with the process? Through a series of prompts, our aim will be to unpack various definitions of experience to relate them back to a field of art already crowded by the trend of identity and geography.

We are excited to welcome artist Hashel Al Lamki to ARD, joining us from the UAE. He will be spending a one-month artistic residency at ARD as part of our ARD International Art Residency Program. We are looking forward to working with Hashel until September!

‎اللمكي فنان إماراتي متعدد التخصصات، تتناول أعماله العلاقة بين البشر وبيئتهم، مع التركيز على التفاعل بين المساحات الطبيعية والمبنية. متأثرًا بالمناظر الطبيعية المتناقضة والتطور السريع في مدينة العين، يدمج فنه بين الابتكار الاجتماعي والاستدامة والوعي البيئي. تخرج اللمكي من كلية بارسونز للتصميم، في مشاريع فنية مجتمعية على مستوى العالم وشارك في تأسيس مساحة بيت ۱٥ التي يديرها الفنانون في دولة الإمارات. وتمزج ممارساته بين الخبرات عبر الثقافات والأساليب العلمية والتقنيات الحرفية المحلية لاستكشاف المواضيع مثل الهجرة، وتغير المناخ، و الترابط المتبادل مع الطبيعة.

Al Lamki is an Emirati painter and multi-disciplinary artist whose work examines the relationship between humans and their environment, focusing on the interaction between natural and constructed spaces. Influenced by the contrasting landscapes and rapid development in Al Ain city, his art merges social innovation, sustainability, and environmental consciousness. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Al Lamki has engaged in community-based art projects globally and co-founded the UAE artist-run space Bait 15. His practice blends cross-cultural experiences, scientific methods, and local artisanal techniques to explore themes like human migration, climate change, and interdependence with nature.

We are delighted to welcome artist Tewa Barnosa from Libya. She will be spending a one-month residency in ARD for the V2 Summer Sessions residency program through a partnership with Cairotronica Festival.

‎تيوا برنوسة فنانة ليبية متعددة التخصصات تقيم بين طرابلس وامستردام، تتقاطع ممارساتها الفنية بين الفنون البصرية والصوتية، التعاون التقييمي والبحثي، تستكشف في انتاجها الفني سرديات وتخيلات من النظم اللغوية والبنى التحتية المجتمعية والرقمية، اراشيف الحرب والهجرة المعاصرة والتاريخية عبر التحقيق في هيكليات الدمار الاستعماري المستمر للبشر والنظم البيئية..

Tewa Barnosa (b. 1998) is a trans-disciplinary artist and cultural producer based between Tripoli and Amsterdam. Her practice spans across visual arts, sound, performance, technology and curatorial collaboration. She researches and draws imaginaries from linguistics, social and digital infrastructures, (war)chives of ongoing colonial mass destruction of humans and ecosystems. In 2015, she founded the independent art space Waraq in Tripoli, Libya. She is an alumni of the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, a former fellow of Martin Roth Initiative for artists at risk, and recipient of the Iwalewa African art awards.

This selection was a result of the Portfolio Review sessions with M’hammed Kilito during his ARD South Residency.
Thank you to all the participants who participated in the portfolio review, we hope to have the chance to connect again for future opportunities!
The mentorship program is 6 months long, where the mentor and artist M’hammed Kilito will be guiding them through developing an already existing project of theirs. We are eager to see the outcome of these projects and further developments of our projects.

We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Leipzig International Art Programme (LIA) for an artist residency exchange project! An Egyptian artist and a German artist will each spend one month in residency, with the Egyptian artist staying at LIA in Leipzig and the German artist staying at ARD Art Institution in Cairo. Both artists will have the opportunity to be exposed to the local art scenes and diverse practices. We are enthusiastic about this new project and future collaborations!

إنضموا إلينا يوم الأربعاء ٢٢ مايو الساعة ٧ مساءً لفاعلية ختام إقامة يونيك الفنية. تتضمن الفاعلية مناقشات وستوديوهات مفتوحة مع الفنانين المقيمين دايفيد فايق (إيطاليا) وتياشا رينر (سلوفينيا) وكريستينا زامبولاكي (اليونان). سوف يشاركوننا ممارستهم الفنية وبحثهم الذين قاموا به خلال إقامتهم في مصر هذا الشهر. تدار الفاعلية باللغة الإنجليزية مع الترجمة إلى العربية إذا لزم. في انتظاركم!

Join us on Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00 pm for the EUNIC Art Residency Closing Event. It will consist of talks and open studios with resident artists David Fayek (Italy), Tjasa Rener (Slovenia) and Christina Zampoulaki (Greece). They will share their artistic practice and the research they have done throughout their residency in Egypt this month. The event will be conducted in English with Arabic translation, if needed. Waiting for you!
