This week, we had the pleasure of hosting students from the Faculty of Archaeology and training them in photogrammetry using digital cameras and 3D scanners. Eng. Mostafa, a teaching assistant at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Engineering, and a research coordinator at SFCL led the workshop for the students. The student also went to the SFCL lab and was shown around the lab machines and working space. The Smart and Future Cities Laboratory for Sustainable Urban Solutions (SFCL) is a research lab funded by STDF and Ain Shams University's Faculty of Engineering. The lab is focusing on building the capacity of young staff, graduates, and students in various areas related to smart and sustainable cities; for more information, please visit our website.

A brief on our last training workshop this in , we conducted for the first time in the lab an intensive training on and .
Through a whole one week student from Heliopolis University managed to design, visualize, fabricate and finally have a VR experience through their designed pavilion.
They passed through whole process using different programs like to visualize their work and then digital fabricate a model of their pavilion and then design a virtual tour inside the pavilion using
The feedback from the participants were excellent, they enjoyed the workshop and it added a lot to their knowledge !!
We are happy that we are in are taking real steps in the capacity building of staff, young graduates and students to cope with new trends and approaches in architecture field

We’re a research laboratory where four different research hubs and units will be established to serve to achieve the department research plan and college as well. The four research hubs are digital fabrication, virtual reality, the Internet of things in architecture and urban design and environmental studies and simulation.

were set up to inspire people and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into new products and prototypes by giving them access to a range of advanced digital manufacturing technology.
