Tomb of Nefertari
QV66 is the tomb of Nefertari, the Great Wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II, in Egypt's Valley of the Queens. It was discovered by Ernesto Schiaparelli (the director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin) in 1904. It is called the Sistine Chapel of Ancient Egypt.[citation needed] Nefertari, which means "beautiful companion", was Ramesses II's favorite wife; he went out of his way to make this obvious, referring to her as "the one for whom the sun shines" in his writings, built the Temple of Hathor to idolize her as a deity, and commissioned portraiture wall paintings. In the Valley of the Queens, Nefertari's tomb once held the mummified body and representative symbolisms of her, consistent with most Egyptian tombs of the period. Now, everything had been looted except for two thirds of the 5,200 square feet of wall paintings. For what still remains, these wall paintings characterized Nefertari's character. Her face received particular attention to emphasize her beauty, especially the shape of her eyes, the blush of her cheeks, and her eyebrows. Some paintings were full of lines and color of red, blue, yellow, and green that portrayed exquisite directions to navigating through the afterlife to paradise

****Egypt Hits Record 7 Million Tourist Milestone in First Half of 2023***
Egypt welcomed over seven million tourists in the first half of 2023, a record-high for the country, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on 10 July.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa congratulated the Permanent Council for Hotel and Resort Permits, as well as the tourism private sector, during a regular meeting with the council.
The minister highlighted “the efforts of the private sector and the fruitful and effective cooperation with the relevant authorities […] to place Egypt in the competitive position that it deserves among the ranks of the world’s major tourism states.”
“Cooperation and coordination is ongoing with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to increase the number of seats” from countries with numerous tourists coming to Egypt, Issa said.

Karnak Temple is the second-most visited site in Egypt after the Giza pyramids. It was built during the reign of Pharaoh Tutmosis I, over 3,600 years ago dedicated to Amun-Ra. The highlight is The Great Hypostyle Hall, consisting of 134 huge pillars engraved with inscription praising Gods and Pharaohs. It began construction during Seti I, but finished during Ramses II.
Luxor Temple, built during Amenhotep III over 3,400 years ago, is dedicated to the three gods of Thebes (Amun, Mut and Khonsu). Later it was remodelled several times by various pharaoh, but the most beautiful version as seen today was by Ramses II. There were 2 obelisks in front of the Luxor temple. Today we can see only the left one, as the right one was moved to Paris in 1830, now standing at Place de la Concorde.
Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple are connected by 2.7km long Avenue of Sphinxes that run through the modern day city of Luxor.
