🐾 February 1st is World Galgo Day and officially marks the end of hunting season in Spain. Today, tens of thousands of galgos and other sighthounds are routinely destroyed by their owners in the most inhumane ways with no consequences.

The reality of what happens to these dogs makes my spine shiver with complete anger and frustration. As you know, we have a rescue Galgo, Darko. The most elegant, loyal and comical animal who makes my heart burst every time I look at him.

He was found, rescued and his life was saved - But thousands of them don’t get the chance. They’re hung from trees, tied to tracks, thrown down wells and left to starve on the streets and abandoned at the side of motorways.

Can you see why I’m so passionate about this?

I’m so grateful to the associations that rescue and rehabilitate the Galgos and other sighthound breeds because without them there would be no Darko. Imagine there was no Darko! oh no, no, no!

How can this happen to a dog that was once so highly regarded within society?
Why is this still happening after all the campaigns and evidence?

My mission is to educate and raise awareness for this gorgeous breed and to help with the rescue and rehoming of these dogs after rehabilitation.

They're the good morning wet nose kisses, they're there to comfort you when you lose a family member, when you're going though a break up or you ran out of teabags. They're the ones that wait until your eating dinner to clean themselves in front of you, they want you to pet them for three seconds and not a moment more, they're the ones who cover your clothes, bed, everything in fur and they're everything wonderful inbetween.

They're irreplaceable.

Imagine the boops!

As you know, I'm a Galgo. A knowledgeable hound with a long nose for booping and perfect bum cheeks.

One day my mum made this strange object and called it a Christmas tree. Now I'm no expert, but this looks more like a shelf covered in lights and dangly bits. Am I wrong?

However, I do know that when the tree with dangly bits is there, it means it's Christmas and Christmas means family, food and telling people / dogs how much they mean to you.

So here I am saying Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and do you have any spare sausages because I'm actually quite hungry?

Here's to 2021 and my face being on more tshirts, bags and more of my Galgo friends being rescued.

Here's me trying to squeeze in as many festive moments with His Royal Highness as I can because we won't be together for Christmas this year. He's off to Madrid to have a jolly old time!

It's going to be a different kind of Christmas but as long as there's cheese and wine, it'll be fine. And I'm so excited to see my family, my other furr babies and be in my city after a year away! Oh how I love you, Manchester.

The good news is with all the quarantining I'll have to do, it'll give me plenty of time to plan Boop.Design website and think of a plan to help charities with my illustrations and tshirts in the coming years.

That is if I don't get distracted by cheesy Christmas films. Which let's face it, it's highly likely.

FELIZ SÁBADO / HAPPY SATURDAY!

Wow, it's been such a long time since we've posted so we thought we'd pop on to say hola!

It's been a busy few months for us here in Barcelona with all the eating, sunbathing, bum sniffs and beach zoomies. I also got a new ball which is pretty fantastic!!

In other less interesting news - My mum started back at Spanish school which has inspired me to learn a new language - maybe husky or poodle!
Anyway, as I was saying, she's also been making loads of monkeys out of socks which I think is really weird but she seems to like it, they're called monkeys in case you're curious. (I have no idea what a freckle is but she keeps saying I have one on my bum cheek)

She's been setting up a website for her greyhound print tshirts, illustrations and Christmas cards too!

She's been a busy sausage but not too busy that she can't boop my nose and give me bum rubs every 5 seconds. (I'm irresistible)

Anyway, it's lunch time so I'm going to stare intensely at my parents until they give me some of their food,then I might do a stretch. Not sure yet.

After months or searching for the best option, I found somewhere great and eco friendly to print them and I'm really, really pleased with how it turned out.

I'll be honest, I haven't taken it off since it arrived. Darko obviously has no idea just how iconic he is (in my eyes) - You should see me waltzing round the park with pure tshirt pride while Darko goes about his daily business of sniffing bums and whatnot.

So bear with me while I test the tee's to make sure they're perfect for purchase and make all the other designs available too!

Then, once it's all go go go, I'll let you know know know!

Last night we had a roof top pizza picnic, I got a skeeto bite on my bum cheek and I gave a greyhound dating advice.

I should mention that Darko has two girlfriends at the moment.

One called Stella who moved to Barcelona from Russia and has a heart shaped nose, and one called Lima, she looks a bit like a skinny tiger and is absolutely mental.

We haven't seen Lima in 2 months so I'm assuming he's been ghosted. We've all been there, son.

Stella on the other hand blanked Darko in the park yesterday IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!

The poor boy was devestated and even did the slow run away from her as if he didn't want to sniff her anyway.

Like when you run for the bus and just as you arrive it pulls out of the bus stop and you have to pretend that you didn't actually need the bus, you were just out for a run?

Anyway, looks like Darko is single again... But the pizza crusts from made everything better.

Having Darko in my life has given me more than just bum sniffs and wet noses. He's the reason I started .
His skinny little body and charming bum cheeks inspired me to make myself a tshirt that I could wear with pride as I pick up his poops😂. It was genuinely just a way to pass the time one afternoon but after posting a picture, people started to message me to ask for one!

Now we're living in Barcelona, I'm progressing and evolving with Boop and Darko is living his best life and has become the King of El parc del Poblenou.

Darko has something to say...

I don't know if you've noticed, but all the humans where I live are wearing face masks. At first I thought, how random and why don't I have one?! But then I used mums electrical devise to do some research and apparently we are living through a global pandemic. Which explains why they are home a lot and why I keep getting a lot more nose boops and forehead kisses.
Look, I'm not complaining but it kind of gets in the way of my busy schedule of napping, sniffing, eating and campaigning to become the next Prime Minister of the UK - Just standard greyhound stuff really.

So as I was saying, it turns out it's mandatory to wear your mask in Catalunya, which includes Barcelona, where I live.

So, if you're planning a trip to Barcelona, or anywhere else in the world please wear your mask, wash your paws and respect the rules given and the other humans around you.

I have spoken. 🐾

What happens when Darko and Andrés leave Barcelona for 5 days after you've been stuck together like glue for 4 months?

I'll tell you what - I got emotional when I dropped a butter bean on the floor and Darko wasn't there to immediately hoover it up.

Then the door bell rang and he wasn't there to protect me from it so I sat down and stared at his bed for five minutes with big Disney eyes and waited for the doorbell monster to leave.

Life feels weird without my little white shadow.

Only 3 days to go.

This is what it all about!

Knowing one of my creations has made someone smile and knowing that when you wear your new boop tshirt you feel sparkly, so sparkly that you may even want to spontaneously skip down the road.

This in turn makes me feel sparkly too - that's real life magic!

Darko recently made friends with an earwig and he has a penguin pen pal in the Barcelona zoo.

He's such a charmer!

Imagine Ashlies Auntie Lynn stumbling across a little bag of memories belonging to her late Mum - and inside she found a little book full of the most charming poems.

And then imagine being asked to stitch one of the poems onto a tshirt to make sure it gets the attention it deserves.

As I'm a hopeless romantic, this was a dream to make and I hope one day my little box of memories will be found and something special will come of it.

Oh hi, didn't see you there!

I'm just taking a five minute break from my doga class to wish you all a happy weekend!

Apparently Barcelona is set for a rainy weekend, but it's okay because I heard mum and dad talking about making pizzas tonight! Which means if I do my cute eyes, I might get a piece of the crust! ... Or maybe not because I accidentally ate the freshly baked baguette they were trying to hide from me a few days ago and I don't think that have forgotten about that yet.

And then tomorrow we'll watch Toy Story and hide under blankets from the rain and drink something called 'Yorkshire Tea' - I'm not quite sure what that is but mum talks about it a lot so it must be good.

I've decided to run a competition - a competition to win a hand stitched boop tshirt - But this time, I won't be doing the doodling, YOU WILL!!

As we are all in lock down and most likely searching for fun things to fill our time, I thought it'd be quite nice if we did something together, even though we are apart.

It's a way to keep your little ones busy and a way to keep this bigger (but still little at heart) one busy, because sometimes lock down is tough and I find that creativity helps to bring a little bit of sunshine back.

Children's doodles to me are the best kind as no two are the same, they're straight from the heart and it's a window into thier wonderful minds to see how they see the world.

Then I thought, has he looked in the mirror lately?
He's as slim as a slice of toast and he has no idea.

Maybe he doesn't know he's a greyhound, how would be know?

All he knows is that he's got the best bum in Barcelona, he smells great and the girls love him.
