Our mission is to create an army of volunteers across Ibiza to collect donations and food for people in need.
Urgent appeal
Hi everyone. Firstly, thank you to everyone who has donated since my last update.
I thought I should keep you all updated with this fast moving situation.
We have been asked by many Ukrainian groups, as a matter of urgency to send medicine. We have spent the last 24 hours researching the best way of sending medicine. As you are probably aware this is not as easy as it sounds. However, we have been in contact with an incredible Spanish NGO Apotecaris Solidaris. They specialize in sending medicines into war zones to help civilians. They buy medicine directly from the producers, they can also buy prescription medicine. Best of all, they buy cheaper than anyone else and they take the medicine into Ukraine and to the Polish border as an official NGO. They tick all the boxes. Therefore yesterday we sent them a 10000 euro donation.
We are now working on a plan to send more medicine and sanitary products, baby food, and dry food.
We are also working on another plan to bring 30 families to Ibiza. We have been offered buses , we now need accommodation and work for some of the people. Finding Work will not be a problem as there is already a shortage of workers this summer, finding generous people to offer accommodation is key to this plan. I am speaking with the Spanish authorities on how this will work as regards to work permits.
I will keep you all updated. Again, thank you for your incredible support.
Luke

MESSAGE TO ALL OUR AMAZING DONORS
Ukraine and Ibiza Food Bank.
I am sending this update to inform all our wonderful supporters of some very important news.
Ibiza Food Bank will be closing its operations in Ibiza.
1) Ibiza Food Bank
We are happy to inform you we have achieved our objective and have managed, with your help to support many thousands of people in Ibiza throughout this incredible journey. In total we have raised over 160000 euros and together with our partners Carritos Solidarios and our army of volunteers we have collected and distributed well over 1 million kg of food./ sanitary products / medicines. We are very proud to announce that every 1 euro of cash we raised, we converted into 10 euros worth of food. This is due to all the food we collected via our network of amazing volunteers and incredible supporters on the island. Its great news that we can announce today - job done!!
2) Ukraine:
Everybody will be aware of the tragedy unfolding in the Ukraine. Ibiza Food Bank still has some spare funds and we will be using these funds to support Ukrainian families. We will be sending a truck once a month from Ibiza to Ukraine with essential items such as dry foods, medicine, baby food, formula for babies, nappies, and sanitary products . We are being advised what items are most urgently needed by Ukrainian families living in Ibiza. We have the funds to send the first truck but we will be raising funds to send a second and third truck. If you wish to support our trucks please use the same links on our go fund me page.
Thank you for all your support over the past 2 years, we are so grateful.
Kind regards
Luke , Tina , Cat and Marco
We would like to say a huge thank you to LET US Ibiza for a wonderful donation of €3000.
This money has gone towards buying Christmas gifts for the children of the families of Equip Voluntari and Madre Teresa Ibiza and vouchers for school equipment.
Without the support of so many wonderful businesses on the island it would be impossible for us to continue our support of families in need in Ibiza.
If you would like to donate to help those families still struggling this year then head to https://www.gofundme.com/f/ibiza-food-bank?qid=1a3749acbd7675ee38d7a9ff363ea7ea

The wonderful students at Morna International College are at it again!
The students were asked to bring in boxes of cereal to donate to Carritos Solidarios Marco Martín and they created this incredible domino effect video!!
Over 470 boxes of cereal were collected plus a further €1700 for Ibiza Food Bank!
We urgently need some reliable volunteers to help us over the summer delivering food parcels around the Island.
If you have a few hours free on a Wednesday and have your own car, drop us a PM and we will get back to you!
It's always a big team effort on a Wednesday when Ibiza Food Bank alongside the other associations put together food packages for the families we support around the island.
Monday = Food Collections from the supermarkets
Tuesday = Sort food at Sa Coma ready for collection
Wednesday = The associations take a time slot and take the food that they need for their own groups.
None of this would be possible without the huge group of volunteers who collect, deliver and sort all the food donations.
Everything is co-ordinated by Carritos Solidarios Marco Martín and it really is a finely tuned machine now.
We want to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone at Defected Records, Hï Ibiza and Eden Ibiza (Official Fan Page) each of the DJs who gave up their time and talent and of course every person who donated from the Press Play Ibiza Live stream last Friday.
We raised a huge €8,000, including a large donation from Defected themselves.
Thanks to everyone that tuned in to support Ibiza.

One of the main reasons that the Carritos Solidarios Marco Martín initiative has been so successful is that many people around the Island have pulled together to fight the current situation. One of those people is Antonio Moya Casanova director of Eroski supermarkets on the Island.
Volunteers have collected over 200,000 kilos of food over the last year out side Eroskis around the Island!

This is the very stark reality right now at the main food bank at Sa Coma. Lots of very empty shelves. We desperately need donations to continue to help families in need on the Island.
This 1 food bank is used by 11 associations who are feeding collectively 7,000 people every week.
PLEASE if you see a donation trolly at your supermarket pop something in there, it doesn't matter how small it is, every donation is tiny ray of hope for someone who is struggling.
What we need right now? Milk, tins of fruit and veg, cereal, cleaning products, lactose and gluten free items, baby milk and nappies.
Or you can make a donation to our GoFundMe page https://gofund.me/9a303d5c
As the crisis continues to grow, we have more and more people reaching out for help. In order to feed them all we desperately need more food donations.
You can donate in Eroski, Hipercentro and Spar Supermarkets across the Island and even the smallest donation is very gratefully received.
Alternatively head to our GoFundMe page https://gofund.me/9a303d5c to make a financial donation.
As always we are so grateful for all of the support we continue to receive from you all but the crisis isn't over...sadly it is worse than ever. Please give what you can.
This is the current situation at the warehouses of Cáritas Diocesana de Ibiza and sadly this is repeated in the main warehouse in Sa Coma also. Almost empty shelves and the number of people that need help rising every day.
We desperately need food donations to continue to feed the families that have been affected by the crisis.
How can you help?
-Donation trollies are located at Eroski Spar & Hipercentros across the Island, simply do your weekly shop and donate what ever you can, how ever small!
-Donate via our GoFund Me page https://gofund.me/9a303d5c
-Volunteer! We urgently need volunteers to work with the super market trollies collecting food donations.
It is always such a pleasure to see so many of the schools on the Island getting behind the charities that are raising money and collecting food for those families that are struggling right now.
A huge thanks to Morna International College they have collected today an amazing €1795 which will be buying coupons for Eroski and helping to top up the food parcels that people receive.
In addition to the wonderful pupils and their families from
Colegio Mestral Ibiza who have collected today 2 cars full of food, which is already at Sa Coma awaiting delivery to families!
Thanks so much to everyone involved!
Great to see the Islands restaurants and bars coming together, despite suffering such hard times themselves, to donate food to Carritos Solidarios Marco Martín 💗💗💗💗💗

We want to say a massive thank you to these two wonderful ladies Kerryann Young and Sadie Mills who have raised €14,142 with The Great Big Raffle and GoFund Me Page.❤️❤️
As you can imagine, January and February are going to be some of the most gruelling months that the Island has faced and this amazing total will be used to buy vouchers from Eroski and Spar which allow people to buy the fresh produce that they need for their families.
Many thanks to everyone who have bought tickets and donated!
A very Happy New Year to all our supporters!
What a year it's been, we've collected food, enlisted volunteers, created a live stream, spoken to schools and colleges, joined forces with some of the best associations on the island and collected a huge amount of money. We will be continuing all of our work into 2021 and beyond!
From all of us here at Ibiza Food Bank, we would like to wish each and everyone of you a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Thanks to EVERYONE who has volunteered, donated and partnered with us, so far we have raised over €60,000, helped collect 100s of tonnes of food and fed 1000's of people all over the Island ALL of this is only possible with your support. 💙💙💙💙💙

Who we are
Ibiza, like every other place, is in the midst of this unprecedented human crisis. The residents of Ibiza have been ordered to stay in their homes since March 13th 2020. This has had a huge impact on Ibiza’s economy, since practically everyone living on the island depend on tourism for their livelihood. The timing of this lock down could not be worse, as it comes exactly when the island is beginning to open up for the summer season. There are two main groups who require urgent help:
· People who normally begin work in April and through no fault of their own have no income
· The Farmers who grow the food, now find their normal clients such as restaurants and hotels closing for the season, therefore do not have the funds to harvest the current crop or grow the next crop. If the farmers cannot grow or harvest, we have no food. They need help!
