The 50 homes that we have designed in El Peral, Valladolid, continue to progress. Construction keeps advancing.
Our design explores several innovation areas in order to improve the dwellers’ lives:
• All homes are single-storey row houses surrounded by gardens, creating a rich and healthy ecosystem, in which nature can flourish and develop together with the families that will inhabit the place in the near future.
• All homes are energy efficient homes that seek to minimize the environmental impact of our activities in the world.
• Each home has been adapted to the needs of each of the families that will live there. In a collaborative process with the future owners, we have incorporated into the design those aspects that they transmitted to us in order to fulfil the needs of their future home. In this way, each dwelling has been adapted to the demands of every member of the cooperative, thus resulting the project in a unified complex made up of unique individual homes.

“It’s different. Singular.” This is how J. Asua, journalist at El Norte de Castilla, the main local newspaper in Valladolid, decided to start his recent article about our proposal for the housing condominium we have designed in the city of Valladolid, in central north Spain. Among other useful descriptive information the article acclaims the value of sustainability and inclusion in the proposal. It’s great to see that innovation and creativity as a source to better design is valued by local media.

The Babyn Jar Holocaust Memorial Center asked us some months ago to create a proposal for a temporary and itinerant structure to remember the events that happened at Babyn Yar, Kyiv, during the Second World War.

Our design takes the geometry of the ravines where the terrible events occurred and creates a soft constellation in memory of those who left. Internally the outer stars that puncture the dark soft body bring light into a textile garden where, in a peaceful ambient, people can remember and learn about events that must never happen again.

Peace and love is always a better pathway to the future than war. Let’s never forget.

Applying what we learned from Venturi and Scott Brown in Las Vegas, we decided to make a billboard building, taking advantage of the scale of the building to communicate with those who pass in front of the place. The windows will write the word pharmacy and the cross that dentifies pharmacies in Spain. Thus the building will be easily legible in the distance and in transit. These elements are manufactured in bearing precast concrete, thus conditioning the existence of the building itself to the communication of its identity. The message is everything.

We were commissioned to design a pharmacy in Vilagrassa, a small municipality of barely five hundred inhabitants located in l’Urgell region. Due to the decreasing trend in the town's demographics, the new pharmacist decides to relocate the pharmacy and create a new space for it. We analysed with her the possible locations and we decide to locate the new pharmacy on a plot on the edge of the town, on the shore of the N-II road, the west connection of Tárrega with the A-2 towards Lleida, and access from the west to the Tárrega industrial area. This new location allows to attract the
attention of other potential customers who pass in front of the pharmacy, while they are in transit.

Permanent ETFE air supported conservatory structures in north London.
Air-supported structures, are stabilized by a pressure difference that allows them to span large distances with very low quantities of material due to the fact that the structure is active and counteracts the action of gravity with pressure. Air-supported structures usually need to have airlocks to enter and exit the main space. However, in our proposal, out of the four membranes, the three outer membranes are air supported, and the internal membrane is pressed against a steel nest structure that holds membrane in place.
The main benefit of this solution is that we can achieve the structural optimization of air supported structures without the need to pressurize the inhabited space. This allows natural ventilation of the space and freedom of use without the need to create air-lock entrances that limit the versatility of the space.

Permanent ETFE air supported conservatory structures in north London. Our proposal for the conservatory structures consist of the following elements:
1. Concrete vase: The structures are partially buried to minimize the visual impact and improve the thermal performance of the structures. To achieve this, we propose the creation of a concrete slab and concrete walls surrounding the perimeter in contact with the garden soil.
2. ETFE Pneumatic enclosure: The structures are covered by an air supported ETFE covering formed by four ETFE membranes.
3. Steel nest: In order to keep the inner ETFE membrane in place we propose a steel nest formed by an array of arched steel tubes fixed to the upper edge of the concrete walls.

Permanent ETFE air supported conservatory structures in north London. We are thrilled to be working on this beautiful project of two sibling structures that with minimal material will create a new gathering public space in a backyard in west Hampstead.

Looking forward to a wonderful year ahead! One more year of international practice. Our founders have received their renewed RIBA & ARB certificates for 2022, a year that we hope will be full of projects in the UK. We will soon show you some of the ongoing ones in London.

EL PERAL COOPERATIVE HOUSING PHASE 1 RECEIVES PLANNING PERMISSION
The first fifty homes that we have designed in El Peral, Valladolid, have just been granted planning permission.
On November 3, 2021, the Governing Board of the Valladolid City Council approved the granting of the planning permission for the construction of the first phase of the residential development under the cooperative regime with 50 single-family houses, swimming pools, car park, storage rooms and common areas.
The project that we are developing innovates in multiple aspects that improve the lives of its inhabitants:
• All homes are single-storey row houses surrounded by gardens, creating a rich and healthy ecosystem, in which nature can flourish and develop together with the families that will inhabit the place in the near future.
• All homes are energy efficient homes that seek to minimize the environmental impact of our activities in the world.
• Each home has been adapted to the needs of each of the families that will live there. In a collaborative process with the future owners, we have incorporated into the design those aspects that they transmitted to us in order to fulfil the needs of their future home. In this way, each dwelling has been adapted to the demands of each member of the cooperative, thus resulting the project in a unified complex made up of unique individual homes.
“We are looking forward to going ahead with the second phase of the project, which is in a very advanced design process, to soon submit its corresponding planning application. Likewise, we hope to start the works that will make the project we are carrying out a palpable reality very soon", declared Isabel Collado, architect, author of the proposal together with Ignacio Peydro, who said that "We feel honoured to be able to positively impact on the city of Valladolid and in the lives of its citizens. For us this is the main mission of our profession."
DOSIS is currently finishing the technical design for this first phase, which is expected to have a visa from the architects association in the coming weeks.
