God it is hot! 🥵 If you are thinking about getting married in August in Spain, don’t!

The best months are May, June, September and October which is why they are our busiest months and December here is a beautiful month but completely appreciate people are busy with Christmas so not an ideal time.

However this wedding was in December and it was a stunning day. A micro wedding with just 14 guests but they went all out on the florals and table styling 🌺💫

I love the fact I am still able to go back through my old blog and read about weddings and venues we have worked at over the years.

For me getting married in Spain is all about embracing the best this country has to offer and this venue is one of my favourites.

After a very wet Easter the sun is back out!

Whilst we love white it is the vibrancy of the flowers in Spain that make it unique.

It pains me to have to write this blog post but it has become very apparent our infamous wedding scammer is back and in full swing as I hear of more and more couples falling prey to her.

One of my wedding planning buddies has contacted me to let me know the scammer is back yet again and it makes me feel so angry 😡 and extremely sad 😕

Firstly angry as she has been getting away with this for years, as far back as 2016 when her scams were published in the Confeti Magazine yet she keeps managing to sidle her way into more venues and cause utter panic and disruption when couples hand over their money to her only to find nothing is booked.

It makes me sad that she is still managing to operate, scammers are charming as this is how they manage to keep operating, so the venues give her a perfect gateway to get close to unsuspecting clients.

Not only does she scam couples she scams suppliers by not paying them and trust me there are many. Sadly they all thought they were the only ones and kept quiet as felt embarrassed they had been conned.

How one low life could ruin what is a fabulous wedding industry of hundreds of hugely talented and professional businesses, is beyond me but she keeps going.

Denuncias have been previously served against her but could she give a s**t, no, because the police aren’t going to do anything but it is time for us as an industry to seriously try to drive this woman out.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming planning your wedding with too much information overload and obsessing if you have remembered everything.

At the end of the day it is about you as a couple enjoying your marriage with your family and friends.

A beautiful setting, good food, wine, laughter and fun is all that matters and enjoy it.

Dreaming of your wedding in Spain?

It can be overwhelming deciding on where to get married, not being able to visit venues. Not understanding the laws in Spain or the culture differences.

Decide on your budget first, Spain isn’t cheap and cheerful anymore although some venues offer great packages if this is your style.

Decide on your venue style, beachside, inland, rustic, modern and have a good look at what ticks your boxes.

Make notes of what is really important to you as a couple and what experience you wish to offer to your guests, is it the culture, the food, a good party or everything!

Be clear when contacting planners and suppliers, don’t be vague or ask for prices.

It is like house hunting and not telling us whether you want a 2 bed apartment or a mansion overlooking the sea.

We can do both and the 3 bed finca too so be clear what you wish to gain when reaching out, don’t be vague and expect to find your answers.

Finally consider how much time you have to plan your wedding in a destination, do you need help or are you confident enough to do it all yourself?

Do you have the knowledge and skills to plan and oversee your wedding or will you be more comfortable knowing someone is here and working for you.

That Friday feeling 🕺🏻

Throwing a party requires good music, an experienced DJ/band that reads the room not your best mate who can play some banging tracks!

No offence to best mates here!

A professional DJ doesn’t just play some banging tracks, they arrive and set up the entire sounds systems required for your day including wireless microphones for speeches, speakers and will provide background music for the dinner.

They understand an event timeline and will be prepared with all the requested songs during the evening from dinner entrance to the first dance.

If the evening goes a bit flat they know exactly how to get the party going again and get bums off seats!

Lastly they will defer any guests requesting songs they might love but no one else does!

Likewise I recall a wedding years ago in Sotogrande where a famous DJ arrived from London who hosted raves, needless to say most of the wedding party over the age of 40 left!

If music and the party is important to you I cannot reiterate enough to hire a professional wedding DJ, they aren’t cheesy and won’t play the birdie song, they will get your crowd dancing the night away 💃🏻

This fabulous wedding certainly saw some epic dance moves!

Don’t forget your entrance into the dinner, make it fun!

There are lots of opportunities to inject fun moments into your day so put some thought into this.

A few ideas for you.

Entrance and exits for your ceremony.
Entrance into your dinner.
Cake cutting and first dance.
Speeches are a lot of fun too!

Are you looking for alternatives to flowers for your wedding?

Maybe you feel they seem a waste for one day and can’t take them with you, perhaps you aren’t really a flower person although I don’t know many! 🌸

There are many ideas you could consider to dress your tables as well as flowers.

With citrus season well and truly underway here in Spain, oranges and lemons are a fabulous way of bringing the Mediterranean into your decor.

Consider using terracotta pots filled with herbs and plants too for your tables and gift them afterwards.

There are so many creative ideas but often the Spanish flowers that grow naturally don’t work for tables.

Bougainvillea wilts as soon as it is cut, hibiscus close and die within a day, oleander is poisonous are just some examples of what not to use!

Hello February, the month of love and signs of spring stirring in the air.

If you are dreaming of hosting your wedding in Spain don’t leave it too long to start venue searching and planning, it is busy and you don’t want to be disappointed to find the perfect venue is booked.
