Ever thought what does a pool cover actually do?

What does a Pool Cover do?
A Pool Cover is a physical barrier between the pool water and atmospheric temperature.
A cover saves water from:
Evaporation
Heat Loss
Large debris and dust
Escape of Chemical’s chlorine turns into a gas when dissolved in water this then dissipates into the atmosphere
Why do I need a pool cover?
A pool Cover puts the fun back into a pool because it doesn’t cost the earth to maintain
A cover is environmentally responsible and economically sensible
How does it warm the pool?
A pool cover allows the suns warmth to pass through into the water just like a garden greenhouse.
Water is an excellent absorber of the Suns heat
All water is heated by the sun but in this case it is retained in the pool water because the pool cover prevents the heat from escaping.
How does it save water?
A pool cover prevents the heat from escaping
A pool cover prevents evaporation. A process which turns water to gas and dissipates into the atmosphere - like boiling a kettle dry.
The amount of water loss depends on the surface area of your pool, the temperature of the water and air humidity and wind.
A cover protects the water from these main conditions .

How to use the Pool Cover , look after it and choose the right pool cover for your Needs:

You can use the pool brush for large debris sweep into a dust pan if it has been a while, light dust covering use the garden hose put the skimmers onto manual and direct to the skimmers this will ensure you are rolling up a clean cover., then short backwash if a lot of dust! Once every few months or so, mop the cover with a little washing up liquid in the bucket. Always use a protective over-cover when the cover is on the roller. We have a cover 16, years old, that someone has done exactly this with. His has paid for itself several times over! What kills a cover? Too much chlorine and not using the over cover! Choose the right cover for your needs:
700 micron if you have an additional heat source.
500 micron if using the cover to heat, maintain and stop an amount of debris
Use a black cover if not here to remove when the temperature reaches 34 degrees
34 degrees is the optimum temperature for algae growth?
Stop evaporation, everyone see’s their pool water drop, but did you know evaporation happens in the evening/ later evening in summer when the temperature drops!
