Last but not least in this series of experimental transfer prints. Adding spot colours you will gain more layers of texture and the type seems to gradually disappear or transform into abstract images.

Thank you for encouraging feedback on the previous posts and examples of this series of experimental monotype prints. This is the result of different combinations in two color using the multiple transfer effect. Any favourites so far? 🤗

As promised in our last post we will share some of the results from the last experiment of transfer printing.

This is the second time we explore this method. First time was during the artist residency at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 2022, when we developed a special way to create one of kind monotype prints. The prints were created by inking a huge offset roller and then removing ink by rolling it manually over compositions of dry clean woodtype. As the roller passes over the text, the information is transferred onto the roller, layer by layer. For that project we used black ink and tissue papers and direct transfer from the roller. (Look up our project for more information on that)

For this new project, with the working title , we have taken the idea a bit further using bright white glossy paper, Pantone colours and transferring the ink on to seperate printing plates.

The element of chance involved with this technique of overprinting produce surprising results as one can see in these two first prints. In this example the roller has passed over two different compositions of woodtype, one with a varied selection of O and X and the other with the letter A and H, but at separate times and inked in different colours.

On day 3 of I was able to work together with Marcos from . We really enjoyed experimenting over the Concept of continuos Metamorfosis and combines Letterpress with collage. In the evening other Printers joined us, making their own collages with the prints.

Our pieces on display at the yearly exhibition ‘Menudencias’ at . An intimate exhibition format where minature art and contemporary poetry are displayed side by side. This years theme is ( in Spanish) and we highly recommend a visit. Until 6th of September

It’s taken us a little time but finally we can announce that our vinyl record project was awarded a bronze medal in the 2024!! We are very pleased with that considering the extraordinary level of designs from all over Europe 🤗

This project would not have been possible without our two collaborator’s and , the musicians. Ernst was the creative brain behind the sound engineering, and the person who approached us in the first place to record the analogue sounds from our letterpress printing studio.

We would also like to thank a couple of other important people who’ve helped us a long the way to make this project possible: who invited us to exhibit in the gallery last year (the 10 years of our first existent was the root of the idea to make a record), who helped us laser cutting the cover, who pressed the vinyl and finally who photographed the result 🙌🏻

If interested in a copy of this special limited edition that comes with a signed handprinted poster, that was made up of from obsolete and discarded objects from old computers for example, please get in contact. In a later post we will showcase the whole project with a complete description of the idea for both the record and the sleeve. For now let’s celebrate and dance like there’s no afternoon 🥳

We feel very honored to have one of our prints published in the showcasegallery in the issue 26 of the Pressing Matters magazine. The letterpressprint in orange&blue was made with from LetterIsland and typographic ornaments.

What a legacy! 😍

A print for my daughters birthday 🥳 we both got happy and can’t wait until the upcoming concert in may 😎

A couple of days ago we heard about the passing of Phil Baines, - a truly inspirational typographer, designer and teacher. I (Lars that is) can still recall his delightful tutorials from the 2nd year BA Graphic Design Course at , that if you were lucky carried on into to the local pub next door to the college. Part from teaching us the basics of type and book design, he showed us the way to letterpress. At the tiny workshop in the basement of the Southampton Row building, I did my very first prints (that I still conserve) Thank you Phil! Also for the many recommendations on books and further readings and activities related to typography, like touring London for old signs. Something that taught us to appreciate and conserve local design history (like we are trying to do at both and ) here on the Canary Islands.

If you like to find out more about the legacy of we recommend you to read his books of course, but also the many articles available online ( is the first source that comes to mind). His recent show at the looked amazing and summed up a lifelong career immersed in typographic studies.

Our thoughts goes to his dear family and many close friends. May his soul rest in peace and may his legacy live on! 😔❤️
