The team of RARDO-Architects was commissioned to work on this plot in vinyet, a residential neighborhood on the coastal town of Sitges, Barcelona. This 900 m² plot is on a quiet street and it is virtually flat. The proposal focused on making the most out of the south facing garden and swimming pool. Hope you like it. Happy Summer Everyone. 😍😘❤️
The open plan living-space is carved out of the natural rock. This energy efficient villa is a new project by Rardo-Architects that is both Class-A rating with a timeless and minimalistic design. Gently sitting on a 1.200 m² plot, this villa had been conceived to be all in one single level. With three double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a big open plan living space, the main volumen of the house is resting on top of a large terraced surface that is integrated into the natural landscape.
We conceived this villa in La Plana, a residential neighborhood on the coastal town of Sitges, Barcelona, as a glass pavilion with large concrete overhangs to protect the interiors front the sun but still keeping all the natural light. This 600 m² plot is on a quiet street and it has a gentle slope. The proposal focused on making the most out of the south facing garden and swimming pool, and to create a visual transparency connecting the front and back garden. Hope you like it. Our office was commissioned to create a contemporary-style house in La Plana Sitges, that, at the request of the client, had the maximum occupancy allowed by municipal urban regulations. To achieve this, the envelope extends looking for the lateral limits of the plot and taking off as little as necessary from the street, generating an open rear space to locate the pool and a large hard esplanade to service the house. The set of simple and elegant volumes blend perfectly with the surrounding landscape.
From the front, the horizontal plane of the porch of this new house is designed to create shade over the residential areas, in the manner of traditional Mediterranean architecture, but updated to a timeless language of sober lines in concrete and stone. This play of light and shadow frames the views towards the garden and pool.

Progress being made at this very special site with unique views over the Mediterranean. Plots on an ascending slope are always a challenge. This family villa is composed of a garage level below. Bringing a new life to this 1882 building in Sitges old town centre.
The structural intervention allowed for a large open plan space with ample walls to fit the clients art collection.
The soft indirect lighting matches the warm and earthy tones of this pied-a-terre for this London couple in the seafront of Sitges. All the furniture of this place has been custom made in cedar wood. This full refurbishment included a solid French oak flooring, with a new underfloor heating system and an energy efficient cooling equipment. All lighting is led and dimmable. A perfect secular retreat to enjoy a rest in the Mediterranean.

Renovation of a 1950s apartment in the Eixample district of Barcelona. Originally the property was highly fragmented with poor natural light in the interior of the apartment. The aim has been to update the house, opening up the spaces, enhancing natural light and achieving longer visuals through the design of the open plan rooms integrating a kitchen in natural oak and black granite.

The team of RARDO-Architects was commissioned to work on this plot in Mas Alba, a residential neighborhood on the coastal town of Sant Pere de Ribes, near Barcelona. This 1.300 m² plot is on a quiet street and on a big slope. The proposal focused on making a one-floor house with a big outside space and a swimming pool. It was a challenging project because of the big slope and the urban planning restrictions. More information coming soon.
The clients wanted a house with a contemporary but, but at the same time that it was comfortable, where the whole family could spend time off and enjoy the wonderful views of the golf and the sea, which can be appreciated from this plot.
In order to satisfy these needs, while still complying with the strict building requirements of this area, we’ve analyzed in the topography of the plot in depth, that with such an inclination, It has determined the configuration of this house. We’ve worked to achieve a good connection between the interiors of the house and its exterior spaces and terraces.
The project consists of a villa on several floors, taking advantage of the slope of the plot and creating two entrances: one pedestrian, in the upper part of the plot, and the other for cars, located in the lower part. Both entrances are connected from the outside at the living room level, with a large staircase on one of the sides of the house, from which one can enjoy the views that this location has to offer.
Another fundamental aspect was to build in a sustainable way. On this house, solar panels on the roof, as well as an aerothermal system have helped achieve a high energy efficiency rating. In addition, the use of natural materials such as wood and natural stone were chosen, to provides warmth to the different spaces of the house.
Large terraces appear on all levels of the house. Oriented towards the south, they frame the best views. Although a plot with these characteristics is a great challenge, the house was conceived in a way to get the most out of it.
Inside, the house is pread on different levels: The upper floor is the private area of the house. There are three children’s rooms connected to each other by a single large terrace. Each with a private bathroom. The master bedroom has a large dressing room, a spacious bathroom with a whirlpool bath bathtub and a private terrace. This floor has direct access from the upper part, where we also find the elevator, connecting all the floors, making accessibility easier. On the main floor, there is a large living room-kitchen with large windows on both sides.

A very special refurbishment was carried out in the heart of Sitges old town. This elegant and minimalist summer flat, is the perfect refuge for this British family with 2 kids to enjoy Sitges’s scene and beaches. A neutral color palette was chosen to give a feeling holidays, but also a sense of warmth thanks to the use of natural oak in some of the furniture.
