Dear Berklee Valencia Community and friends,

We want to extend our thoughts and support to all of you who have been impacted by the floods and the extensive damages they have caused.

After much consideration and consultation with various entities and members of the team, we will be reopening the campus on Monday, November 4 and classes will resume.

Some services may be limited for the coming days. It is also possible that a small number of classes may be canceled. As it stands, there are many unknowns so we ask that all members of the community be understanding as we reopen.

Should the weather today impact our current situation, we may need to reconsider opening tomorrow. If there is a change in our plan to reopen, we will send a message as soon as possible to our community members.

As always, please be sure to consult official channels for information on weather and transportation conditions.

We send our best wishes to those that have been directly impacted by this tragedy. We are planning some opportunities for the community to come together tomorrow and throughout the week.

Due to continued requests by the authorities for people to keep roads clear as well as the lack of public transportation in Valencia city and the surrounding areas, the campus will remain closed this Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3.

We will confirm by the end of the weekend if we will be reopening on Monday.

Dear all,

As you may know from recent news reports, the city and region of Valencia has suffered heavy storms that have caused significant damage, hindering mobility and transportation. Most of the severe weather was outside the city and therefore did not significantly impact the campus or the areas where our students live.

Following the guidelines from the local authorities, the Berklee Valencia campus closed its facilities on Tuesday, October 29, at 10 p.m. We hope to resume classes after the Fall Break on Monday, November 4 if recommendations from local authorities allow.

We have confirmed with Livensa, where our undergraduate students are housed, that there are no problems in the residence. Graduate program directors have connected with their students to ensure everyone is safe and has the resources they need. In addition, as it stands, the City of Valencia is assuring residents that drinking water is safe.

Although the weather is stable now, Civil Protection has asked people not to travel on the roads in order to let the work of the emergency services proceed efficiently in the areas affected by the floods. With this in mind, we encourage members of our community to avoid unnecessary travel in the coming days and to keep informed of the current transport and accessibility conditions in the city of Valencia, its surroundings, and their intended destination.

We will be sharing updates on the situation via email to our community as well as on our social media channels. You can find us on:
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BerkleeValencia/
- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/berkleevalenciacampus/
- X: https://x.com/berkleevalencia

We would encourage you to keep an eye on those channels. And, of course, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to Berklee Valencia via email at https://valencia.berklee.edu/about/contact-information

In order to ensure the safety of our community as well as to make sure that we are not hindering the work of crews managing the aftereffects of the storm, the campus will remain closed on Thursday, October 31 and Friday, November 1.

We will continue to monitor the situation as well as the recommendations of local authorities, and confirm in the coming days if normal activities will resume on Monday, November 4, after the fall break.

30/10/2024

Due to the recent severe weather affecting the Valencia region and following the guidelines of the City Hall and Civil Protection, the Berklee Valencia Campus is closed today, Wednesday October 30.

All classes and in-person activities are suspended for the day.

We are fortunate that the city of Valencia, where we are located, was not significantly impacted by the severe weather. We are keeping our neighbors in surrounding areas, who were not as fortunate, in our thoughts.

We will be sharing updates on the situation so please stay alert to our social media channels.

As part of Berklee Valencia’s scoring for film, television, and video games graduate program, students got to record their music cues at the campus’ Ann Kreiss Scoring Stage recording studios with the collaboration of a woodwind quartet.

Our students’ immense creativity, passion, and hard work shined through their works. They composed a piece conceptualizing the narrative of a short literary text by Argentinian writer Julio Córtazar.

Utopía - Live at Commencement Concert Berklee Valencia 2024: Morning, Dew, Hope 25/10/2024

Berklee Valencia graduate students perform an arrangement by Cintia Bonilla MM ’24: “Utopia” at Morning, Dew, Hope, Berklee Valencia’s commencement concert.

Morning, Dew, Hope was the first of three concerts held at the Theatre Martín i Soler in the Palau de les Arts, València, on Saturday, July 6, as part of the 2024 commencement celebrations—a remarkable farewell to the class of 2024. At the concert, students sang of ancient cities, guardians of crossroads, arches and pomegranate trees, strange flowers and seeds, and a river we surrender to, in order to reach the ocean.

Bonilla describes Utopia as a song written during her time at Berklee, influenced by flamenco, Afro-Latin music, and timba. The song reflects how much of what happens around us is out of our control. When she composed it, Colombia was experiencing severe fires that could only be extinguished by rain, reminding us how fragile we are and how often we focus on things that blind us from what truly matters—valuing nature and our place in the universe.

Arranger: Enric Alberich and Cintia Bonilla

🎶 This season’s first Berklee a Les Arts show, A Room in the Desert, took place on October 16 & 17 at Les Arts, bringing an inspiring reinterpretation of Jules Massenet’s Manon.

Enjoy these moments from the concert, which honored female artists like Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Nina Simone, and Madonna—women who, like Manon, defied societal norms to carve out their own paths.

The show beautifully highlighted the contrast between a past where women were silenced and a present where they have the power to shape their destinies.
