Variables! :-a variable is defined as an attribute of an object of study. Variables are important to understand because they are the basic units of the information studied and interpreted in research studies.
✍️Variables፦ ማንኛውንም ጥናታዊ ስራ ለመስራት በምናስብበት ወቅት ስለ ምናጠናው ሃሳብ ተያያዥነት ያላቸው ጉዳዮች፤ በጥናት ልናረጋግጠው በፈለግነው ሃሳብ ላይ ቀጥተኛም ሆነ ተዘዋዋሪ ተጽኖየሚፈጥሩ ጉዳዮች ወይም ሃሳቦች ማለት ነው።
✍️ለምሳሌ፦ በግለሰብ ደረጃ ሲጋራ ለማጨስ የሚያነሳሱ ምክንያቶችን ለማጥናት ብናስብ፣ ቀጥተኛ ሆነ ተዘዋዋሪ ተጽኖየሚፈጥሩ ሃሳቦችን መጀመሪያ እንለያለን፣ እነሱም ጾታ፤ እድሜ፤ የትዳር ሁኔታ፤ የስራ በሃሪ፤ ገቢ፤ የመኖሪያ አካባቢ፤ ወዘተ ሲጋራ ማጨስን ጨምሮ Variables ይባላሉ። የምንመርጣቸውን Variables ከTheory አንጻር፤ከሌሎች ጥናታዊ ግኝቶች አንጻር እና ከልምድ አንጻር በመመስረት መምረጥ ይይቻላል።
✍️ለምሳሌ፦ ወጣትነት ለማጨስ እንደሚገፋፋ ከልምድ በመነሳት፤ የገቢ ማነስ በብስጭት ምክንያት ለማጨስ እንደሚዳርግ የተረጋገጠ ጥናት ካለ በመውሰድ፤ ሌሎቹንም በምክንያት በማስደገፍ መርጦ መጠቀም ይቻላል። ነገር ግን ከላይ ከተጠቀሱት ምክያቶች ውጪ ምክንያት አለኝ ወይም ማረጋገጥ እፈልጋለው ለሚል አጥኚ የራሱን ሃሳብ በማቅረብማጥናት ይችላል።
✍️ለምሳሌ፦ በግለሰብ ደረጃ ሲጋራ ለማጨስ የኢንተርኔት መጥፋት ምክንያት ነው የሚል Variables ቢመረጥ ስህትት
አይደለም ነገር ግን በመረጃ በመነሳት ግንኙነት እንዳለው እና እንደሌለው ማረጋገጥ ብቻ ነው የሚጠበቅበት።
በግለሰብ ደረጃ ሲጋራ ለማጨስ የሚያነሳሱ ምክንያቶችን ለማጥናት ብናስብ በጥናት የሚረጋገጠው ሲጋራ ማጨስ(Dependent ወይም Outcome Variable) ይባላል። ምክንያቱም ሲጋራ ማጨስ በጾታ፤ በእድሜ፤ በትዳር ሁኔታ፤ በስራበሃሪ፤ በገቢ፤ በመኖሪያ አካባቢ፤ ወዘተ ተጽኖ ስለሚያድርበት በነሱ ላይ ጥገኛ ነው። ነገር ግን በራሳቸው ቆመው በሲጋራ ማጨስ ላይ ተጽኖ የሚፈጥሩት ጾታ፤ እድሜ፤ የትዳር ሁኔታ፤ የስራ በሃሪ፤ ገቢ፤ የመኖሪያ አካባቢ፤ ወዘተ (Independent ወይም Explanatory Variables) ይባላሉ። ምክንያቱም ሲጋራ ማጨስ በተቃራኒው የግለሰቡ ጾታ ላይ ተጽኖ መፍጠር አይችልም (ሰው ስላጨሰ ጾታው አይለወጥም ነገር ግን ጾታው እንዲያጨስ ተጽኖ ሊፈጥርበት ይችላል ለምሳሌ፦ ወንዶች ከሴቶች በላይ አጫሽ ሊሆኑ ይችላሉ)።
Y(ሲጋራ ማጨስ) = f(ጾታ + እድሜ + የትዳር ሁኔታ + የስራ በሃሪ + ገቢ + የመኖሪያ አካባቢ + ወዘተ + Error Term)
✍️በተለይ የEconometrics Model በመጠቀም ጥናታዊ ጽሁፍ ለማቅረብ ለሚያስቡ አጥኚዎች የምንመርጠውን
Variables በጥንቃቄ መምረጥ የማንችል ከሆን የመጨረሻ ውጤቱን ሊያዛባው ይችላል። በተለይ የመረጥነው
Independent Variable በተቃራኒው በራሱ በIndependent Variable ላይ ተዘዋዋሪ ተጽኖ የሚፈጥር ከሆን በጣም ክፍተኛ ስህተት የሆነ ውጤት ነው የምናገኘው። የዚህ አይነቱ ችግር Multicolinearity Effect ይባላል።
✍️ስለዚህ በቅድሚያ Variables በጥንቃቄ በመምረጥ እንዲሁም የዚህ አይነቱን ችግር መኖሩን የሚያረጋግጠውን Multicolinearity Test ለማድረግ የተለመደው variance-inflating factor (VIF) ስልት ሲሆን በVIF የሚገኘው አማካይ ውጤት ከ10በታች ከሆነ የወሰድናቸው Independent Variables ትክክለኛ ወሆናቸውን ያሳያል። ለዚህ የሚያገለግሉ ሶፍትዌሮች Stata፤ SPSS፤ Sas፤ ወዘተ) በመጠቀም ችግሩን መቅረፍ ይገባል።

TYPES OF VALIDITY IN GENERAL CONTEXT

በአጠቃላይ ጥናታዊ ጽሁፍ ውስጥ ያለውን validity በሁለት ዋና ዋና ክፍል ይከፍላል ፣ internal& external validity ስሆን፣ ዛሬ ስለ internal validity እንመልከት ፣

Internal validity
ስለ አንድ ጥናታዊ ጽሑፍ ውጤት ትክክለኛነትና ጽሁፉ ከተላያዩ methodological ችግሮች ነጻ ስለመሆን የሚያወረ ነው፣

✍በተላይ experimental study ላይ cause and effect relationship ትክክለኛ ነው የሚለውን ሀሰብ ያካትታል ፣

✍ Internal validity አለ ወይም የለም የሚባል ነገር ሳይሆን በብዙ ነገሮች ተደግፈን ፍርድ የምንሰጥበት ጉዳይ ነው፣

👉Internal validity እንዳይኖር ሊያደርጉ የሚችሉ ነገሮች (threats of internal validity)

1) Confounding factors: በእኛ ጥናት ላይ ለአንድ ችግር ወይም effect ምክንያት ሊሆን ይችላል ያልነው ነገር(factor) እኛ ጥናቱ ላይ በላከተትነው በሌላ ነገር(another third factor) የመጠ/የተከሰተ ችግር/effect ሊሆን ይችላል፣ እንደዚህ ስሆን internal validity ችግር ውስጥ ይገባል።

2) Maturation: እኛ በጥናታዊ ጽሁፍ ያገኛነው ውጤት፣ ምንአልባት በተፈጥሮ ፣ ጊዜ እየገፈ ስለሄደ ወይም በዕድሜ ምክንያት የተገኘ ውጤት እንጅ ፣ እኛ እንደሰብነው በአንድ (factor) ላይሆን ይችላል፣ ለምሳሌ በእድሜ ምክንያት በተፈጥሮ የመጠ ነገር ሊሆን ይችላል። ይህን time effect ከግምት ከላስገበን internal validity ችግር ውስጥ ይገባል፣ ማለትም ውጤታችን እኛ እንደሰብነው ላይሆን ይችላል ማለት ነው።

3) Participants selection: ለጥናታዊ ጽሁፍ ተሳተፊ (participants) ስንመርጥ ትክክለኛ procedure ከግምት ከልገበ፣ ለምሳሌ probability sampling techniques ወይም ( randomization) ከልተጠቀምንበት፣ ውጤታችን biased ወይት ትክክለኛ ያልሆነ ይሆናል።

4) Instrumentation: አንድን variable ስንለከ በትክክል መለከት ይኖርብናል፣ standard የጠበቀ measurements መጠቀም ያስፈልጋል ወይም ተሳተፊዎች(participants) በትክክል ተጽዕኖ ውስጥ ሳይገቡ መልስ(response) እንድሰጡ መድረግ ያስፈልጋል፣ ይህ ከልሆነ biased ይሆናል፣ ስለዚህ internal validity ችግር ውስጥ ይገበል።

5) Attrition : ይህ ማለት ብዙ (ከተጠበቀው) በላይ loss to follow up ወይም non response rate ስኖር የሚከሰት ስሆን፣ በውጤቱ ላይ አሉታዊ ተጽዕኖ ሊያሳድር ይችላል፣ በዚህ ጊዜ internal validity ጥያቄ ውስጥ ሊገባ ይችላል፣

6) Diffusion : ማለት ተሳተፊዎች(participants) ከአንድ ቡድን ወደ ሌላ ቡድን Researcher ሳያውቅም ሆነ እያወቀ ስቀይሩና ስቀላቀሉ፣ የሚከስት ነገር ነው። ለምሳሌ control group ላይ የነበረ ተሳተፊ ወደ experimental group ስሄድ ልከሰት የሚችል ስሆን፣ ይህም ውጤታችን ላይ ተጽዕኖ ያሰድራል። በዚህ internal validity ነገር ጥያቄ ውስጥ ይገባል ማለት ነው።

6) Any type of bias: ትክክለኛውን ውጤት ሊቀይር የሚችል ማንኛውም ነገር ወይም ፣ ትክክለኛ ያልሆነ አሰረር ከተከተልን internal validity ችግር ውስጥ ሊገባ ይችላል።
