የዛሬ 36 ዓመት ገደማ (ግንቦት 5 ቀን 1981) ከከሸፈው መፈንቅለ መንግሥት 3 ቀናት አስቀድሞ፣ በ40ኛው የኢትዮጵያ መምህራን ማኅበር በዓል አከባበር ላይ፥ በ ኢሕድሪ ጉባዔ አዳራሽ አንድ ትንታግ መምህር "አይፅፍም ይሉታል!" በሚል ርዕስ አንድ ቆንጣጭ ግጥም ጓድ ፕሬዚዳንት ባሉበት አቀረበ።

አዳራሽ ሙሉ ሰማያዊ ለባሽ ታዳሚ ፀጥ ረጭ ብሎ አደመጠ።

ዛሬ የዓለም መምህራን ቀን ሲከበር እኒህ ከታች ያሉት የማስታውሳቸው ስንኞች ያቃጭሉብኛል።

I’m excited to share some highlights from the past year, which wrapped up on September 10, 2024. For those who may not know, September 11 marks the start of the New Year in the Ethiopian calendar, welcoming the year 2017 in Ethiopia. This is why I wanted to provide you with this brief report.

#ከፕላስቲክፅዱኢትዮጵያ #ፕላስቲክቄጠማይታገድ

"....I am writing to express my hope that Ethiopian Airlines will consider adopting greener practices, reflecting its esteemed reputation and influence on the global stage. Here are two suggestions to start:

1. Eco-friendly Cutlery: Replace the plastic cutlery used in your services, both at the terminal and inflight, with eco-friendly products. I was impressed by the wooden cutlery used on my flight from Frankfurt to Addis Ababa in December 2022. A decision to use eco-friendly cutlery could demonstrate your commitment to the environment while enhancing your marketing edge and visibility.

2. Free Water at Terminals: Ban bottled water in PET on your flights and at the terminals, providing free water for passengers and crew. Let your customers and the world know that you are striving to eliminate single-use plastics. Consider offering affordable branded eco-friendly water bottles to your customers instead. It’s incongruous that water bottled in plastic is promoted by Ethiopian Airlines in a country known as the water tower of Africa and home to the world's longest river.

I present these ideas as a proud Ethiopian and a loyal customer of Ethiopian Airlines for over 47 years, wishing to see our national carrier achieve even greater heights.

𝐀𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲'𝐬 '𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬' 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞

This year's Earth Day, scheduled for Monday, 22nd April, adopts the theme 'Planet versus Plastics', with a triple aim: raising awareness about plastic pollution, curbing single-use plastic consumption, and advocating for a 60% reduction in plastic production by 2024. This theme resonates deeply with Ethiopia, where the በኢፌዲሪ የአካባቢ ጥበቃ ባለስልጣን FDRE Environment Protection Authority launched the six-month campaign on 29th March 2024, under the Amharic motto "ብክለት ይብቃ፥ ውበት ይንቃ!". Each month of the campaign focuses on tackling different forms of pollution, starting with plastic pollution in April, air pollution in May, water pollution in June, soil pollution in July, and sound pollution in August. The final month, September, is dedicated to conducting environmental and social impact assessments. The campaign aims to raise awareness about environmental issues, encourage individual action and behavioral changes, advocate for stronger environmental policies and laws, and promote sustainable practices and enforcement systems.

Recent findings have revealed Ethiopia's significant plastic waste generation, including 46% from single-use plastic bags, 34% from PET bottles, 16% from household utensils, and 4% from other sources. This underscores the urgent need for immediate and sustainable action against pollution in the country. Despite this, there has been a concerning trend of unregulated plastic production and consumption, posing a threat to the environment.

To address this challenge, producers must take responsibility for their plastic waste by implementing recycling programs, collaborating with suppliers to reduce waste, using sustainable alternatives, and supporting innovative technologies. Moreover, greater education on plastic recycling and changes in packaging design are crucial steps towards mitigating plastic pollution.

It is high time for Ethiopia to follow in the footsteps of countries like Kenya, Rwanda, and Eritrea and take a clear stance on plastic pollution. Unfortunately, in recent years, we have witnessed unregulated production and consumption of plastic products without much concern from the relevant authorities. From single-use plastics to plastic bottles and artificial materials, the impact of this unchecked plastic consumption cannot be ignored.

Replacing the 'Planet versus Plastics' theme with 'Ethiopia versus Plastics' underscores the severity of the issue and underscores the significance of EPA's commendable initiative. Nevertheless, sustained and concerted efforts are imperative to sustain momentum and effectively combat plastic pollution across Ethiopia.

ነገ መስከረም 20 ,2016 ዓ.ም - መግቢያ 👉 በነፃ

አስደሳቹ የውሎ ገብ የሃይኪንግ እና ፕሎጊንግ ዝግጅታችን ነገ (መስከረም 20 ) በኢትዮጵያ የመጀመሪያው የዕፅዋት ማዕከል በሆነው የጉለሌ ዕፅዋት ማዕከል (Gullele Botanic Garden) ይካሄዳል።

ይህ በአይነቱ ልዩ የሆነው የጉዞ ፕሮግራም ከ Guzo Adwa Hiking Events gu ጋር በትብብር የተዘጋጀ ሲሆን፣ በጉዟችን በዕፅዋት ማዕከሉ ውስጥ በቸልተኝነት የተጣሉ የፕላስቲክ ቆሻሻዎችን እናፀዳለን።

👉 ፕሎጊንግ የእግር ጉዞ እያደረጉ ወይም ዱብዱብ እያሉ (jogging ) እግረ መንገድ ለአካባቢ ብክለት የሆኑ ቆሻሻዎችን የማንሳት አስደሳች ልምምድ ነው።

በዕለቱ ከ 10- 13 ኪሎ ሜትር የሚፈጅ መንገድ በግማሽ ቀን ውስጥ በእግራችን እንጓዛለን ።

705 ሄክታር ስፋት ያለው የዕፅዋት ማዕከሉ በውስጡ ከ 100 በላይ የአዕዋፍ ዝርያዎችን ፣ ከ 15 በላይ አጥቢ እንስሳት እና ከ 700 በላይ የዕፅዋት ዓይነቶችን የያዘ ሲሆን በጉዞ ወቅት የመጨረሻ ከፍታ ላይ ስንደርስ አዲስ አበባ ከተማችንን በጉልህ የማየት እድል ይገጥመናል ።

ከዚህ ቀደም ጉለሌ የዕፅዋት ማዕከልን የመጎብኘት ዕድል ያላገኛቹ ውድ ቤተሰቦቻችን ይህ አጋጣሚ በፍፁም እንዳያመልጣችሁ እናሳስባለን!!

መገናኛ ቦታ
አዲሱ ገበያ አደባባይ ከጠዋቱ 1:00 -1:20 ሰዓት ወይንም ደግሞ በጉለሌ የዕፅዋት ማዕከል በር ላይ ከጠዋቱ 1:30።

ማስታወሻ

📍ጉዞው የተዘጋጀው በነፃ ሲሆን። ከጉዞ በፊት የሚጠየቅ ምንም አይነት ቅድመ ክፍያ አይኖርም። ሆኖም ግን በዕለቱ የፓርክ መግቢያ እና የአስጎብኚ ክፍያዎችን ለመሸፈን በአንድ ተጓዥ ከ 100 (አንድ መቶ ብር) ያልበለጠ መዋጮ ብቻ ይጠየቃል ።

📍 ተጓዦች ለግማሽ ቀን ውሏቸው የሚሆን ውሃ በኮዳ እንዲሁም ቀለል ያለ ምግብ (snacks) በቦርሳቸው እንዲይዙ እንመክራለን።

👉 ይህ ጉዞ ሁሉም ተጓዥ የራሱን የትራንስፖርት አማራጭ በመጠቀም የሚገናኝበት ልዩ ፕሮግራም ነው::

መኪና በዕፅዋት ማዕከሉ ቅጥር ግቢ ውስጥ ያለምንም የደህንነት ስጋት ማቆም ይቻላል።

📍 ጉዞው የተዘጋጀው በነፃ ሲሆን፣ ከጉዞ በፊት የሚጠየቅ ምንም አይነት ቅድመ ክፍያ አይኖርም። ሆኖም ግን በዕለቱ የፓርክ መግቢያ እና የአስጎብኚ ክፍያዎችን ለመሸፈን በአንድ ተጓዥ ከአንድ መቶ ብር ያልበለጠ መዋጮ ብቻ ይጠየቃል ።

📍 ተጓዦች ለግማሽ ቀን ውሏቸው የሚሆን ውሃ በኮዳ እንዲሁም ቀለል ያለ እና ሃይል ሰጪ ምግብ (snacks) በትንሿ የጉዞ ቦርሳቸው እንዲይዙ እንመክራለን። እንዲሁም ለእግር ጉዞ ምቹ የሆነ ጫማ ፣ የማያንሸራትት ( ከዚህ ቀደም በእግር ጉዞ የተሞከረ ቢሆን ይመረጣል )

👉 ጉዟችን በጉለሌ የዕፅዋት ማዕከል ደቡባዊ በር ጀምረን ከ 13-15 ኪሎ ሜትር የሚጠጋ ሃይኪንግ እና ፕሎጊንግ በኋላ ጉዟችንን የምናጠናቅቅ ይሆናል።

👉 ይህ ጉዞ ሁሉም ተጓዥ የራሱን የትራንስፖርት አማራጭ በመጠቀም የሚገናኝበት ልዩ ፕሮግራም ነው::

ፋራ ናቸው!

ዛሬ ዓለምአቀፍ የፅዳት ቀን (World Cleanup Day) ነው። በእኛው Plogging-Ethiopia አስተባባሪነት በእንጦጦ ረጅም የእግር ጉዞ በማድረግ 143 ኪግ የፕላስቲክ ቆሻሻዎችን ሰብስበናል። ከአራት የተለያየ ተቋም የተዎጣጡ 41 በጎ ሰዎች 18 ኪሜ በሸፈነው እንቅስቃሴያችን ተሳትፈዋል።

በውሏችን ከመቐለ አዲስ አበባ ለእረፍት የመጡ ወዳጆችም ተሳታፊ ነበሩ። አንዱ ታዳጊው ልጅ ዳንኤል ነው። ዘጠኝ ዓመቱ ነው። "ሰዎች ቆሻሻ ለምን ይጥላሉ' የሚል ጥያቄ ሲቀርብለት፣ "ፋራ ስለሆኑ ነዋ" የሚል ፈጣን መልስ ነበረው። ግሩም መልስ! የተፈጥሮን እና ከባቢን ፅዳት መጠበቅ እርድና ነው ፤ ዘመናዊነት ነው። ሀገርን በየትኛውም መልኩ ማቆሸሽ የኋላቀርነት መገለጫ ነው። አሜሪካ ከራርሞ የመጣው ልጅ አምነን፣ አሜሪካኖቹ "ቆሻሻቸው እንኳን አይሸትም እኮ' ብሎም አስቆኛል። እኛ ጋር እንጦጦን በመሰለ እንክብካቤ የሚደረግለት እና በንፅፅር ንፅህናው በተጠበቀ ስፍራ እንኳን ለጉንፋን አሳልፎ የሚሰጥ ጠረን አይጠፋም። 'ፅዱ ስፍራዎቻችን' እንኳን ኋላ ስለመቅረታችን ያሳብቃሉ። ባናፀዳ እንኳን ፣ ባለማቆሸሽ ዘመናይ ዜጎች እንሁን!
