Rise and Awaken to Communities of health and wellbeing

Tenesu! 12/02/2024

After many iterations and struggle I have updated the Tenesu Website. I attempted to have others to do it for me to resist the impulse of doing everything myself. However, my attempts were frustrating and fruitless.

Please drop by my site https://tenesu.com if you have any questions or you can provide feedback by let me know what you think about our site. In the meantime I going to start building my TaijiAfrica website. It helps to keep the two separate.

Tenesu! Tenesu supports the development and restoration of holistic communities by creating “safe places and spaces” as a collective healing so, they may be productive and thrive through the lens of wellness.

A Message to the community:

Over this year or more I have been posting information about my project Tenesu. Some of you have responded by providing contribution, others have shared my post and there are those of you whom have selected “like”. During this time of uncertainty and opportunity I’d like to provide you some context of my vision. If you like what you read and have resources that can assist me in my efforts or know of possible funders organizations that might be interested in such a project please reach out to me.

Tenesu! (RISE/AWAKEN). The primary mission is to “preserve life, empower and assist African communities in their liberation through a lens of wellness. Through participation and the co-creation of a future from a place of peace, self-sufficiency, healing and wellbeing”. Infusing wellness as a core value, practice, and social measuement tool in all aspects of the society. Yet within this mission there is a much larger vision.

I see Tenesu! engage in the processes of developing safe spaces and places. Sanctuaries where our communities can go for holistic approaches of healing and wellbeing. Networked with exisiting wellness communitie and various healing professional /modalities on and off of Africa. Tenesu Centers are gathering places to have rich and insightful conversations, programming, research, and colaboration to help develop an alternative solutions and future for us all to thrive. Choosing something different outside of the single narrative most of us today default to without question. A narrative that has been shaped and created for us. As Tenesu’s name implies these wellness complexes are design to “Awaken” and create a forum for the African genius, its hidden treasures, and wisdom locked deep within us all. To preserve and protect the unique skills and indigenous knowledge.

Tenesu will be a brain trust for a network of professionals, open source information, and shared libraries that are accessible to the all African people so, that we once more we can be the lions and tell and share our stories across the continent and into the world. We will offer our brothers and sisters who are committed to social justice and change or those who merely seek wellness/eco tourisim housing to lay their heads, heal their minds and bodies and rejuvenate their spirits.

For those of us who wish to return to the continent these centers would serve as places to go to let of the baggage we have been carring from our social, historical, and generational traumas. An opportunity to reenculturate and create a new story, while acclimating in way that we can best serve our new communities without separation.

I know this is a mammoth vision yet it is one that is needed to provide a future for our communities here and throughout the world. It will not be easy but it is the work that needs to occur and I need your help and support to make it a reality. So if your interested in assisting with this work in anyway please reach on to me through messeger. Thanks for all of your support and well wishes. Be safe.

Executive Summary
..”when the human spirit is well, whole, and healthy, being human is experienced and characterized by confidence, competence and a sense of full possibility and unlimited potentiality.” – Dr. Wade Noble

Tenesu! Is the bridge between healthcare and holistic wellness. We create restorative and holistic environments, wellness programs/trainings, consulting services, and initiatives to empower communities to thrive. We are building a network of five to six (5-6) physical Urban Wellness Center complexes designed to be sanctuaries and safe havens to house and empower meaningful dialog, research, healing, and innovative technologies that supports the future of African wellness. Our virtual holistic villages will allow Tenesu! to extend its reach and services beyond the limitation of our physical locations.

We are a network of local and diasporian professionals; architects, developers, consultants, teachers, artists, innovators, researchers, healers and African futurists. We are dedicated to designing alternative wellness systems, tools and services to support the mental, physical, and social health needs of rising and innovative economies on the African continent and its diaspora.

Mission:

Tenesu’s mission is “To preserve life, empower and liberate communities and create a future from a place of peace, self-sufficiency, healing, and wellbeing.” We aim to unlock the raw potential of African peoples who suffer from social, historical, and generational traumas, through the development of integrated networks which are accessible, affordable, as well as holistic; infusing wellness as a core value, practice, and social measurement tool in all aspects of the society.

Approach:

Tenesu’s holistic and preventive approach is designed to increase the overall health and wellbeing of the people, and lower barriers to progressive change. We understand that transformative change cannot occur by serving a select target audience, and therefore extend our wellness consulting services, events, retreats, and workshops to various levels of the society (i.e. communities, institutions, corporate businesses, organizations, and governments).

Tenesu’s virtual libraries, communities, and research services enables continental and diasporian members access to a brain trust for collaboration, shared resources, and information exchange across borders; strengthening technology development, connections and the wellness of knowledge-based economies on the African continent. Within these communities we will develop and protect unique skills and indigenous knowledge by promoting a culture of African-inspired wisdom.

Partners, Advisors, and Allies:

The Tenesu! Partners, Advisors, and Allies Programs, develops and establishes multiple levels of relationships with businesses that are in alignment with our vision, mission and goals. Selected partners receive access and alliances to the world’s largest rising economy. This allows them to integrate their programs and services to our wellness communities increasing direct access. Partners are evaluated and selected on the basis of; quality of products, type of services, social commitment to transformative social change and cultural diversity within their companies.

When I began investigating and researching the possibilities of this project I had no idea what would be ahead of me. I understood that there would be a great tidal wave standing in front of me and that it would clear a path that places peoples wellbeing as a cornerstone of the society. Now with the advent of COVID-19 I believe there are people reevaluating the way things are done such as Iceland https://www.buzzfeed.com/albertonardelli/coronavirus-testing-iceland and countries like New Zealand https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesellsmoor/2019/07/11/new-zealand-ditches-gdp-for-happiness-and-wellbeing/ and https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/10/happiness-is-the-metric-of-the-future-but-there-are-problems-with-how-we-measure-it who have moved away from measuring their GDP as a monitor of measuring growth to happiness. All of these decisions are based on the well being of the people, ushering in the Age of healing.

As I observe the unfolding events I realize now, more than ever before why the Tenesu! Wellness Project is important and needs to be developed and implemented as quickly as possible. In saying this I realize the need for your immediate help and support. I know I am asking for help during a time of uncertainty and fear. Many of you are questioning and wondering where your money will come from or where to invest it to keep it safe until this all passes over. You may not realize that this is just the tip of the needle of things to come.

To continue this mission of preserving life, empowering and liberating communities, and creating a future from a place of peace, healing, and wellbeing requires people who can see beyond their lifetime.

To be able to infuse wellness as the core value and measurement tool in all areas of the African society, as a system to eradicate the infectious and adverse effects of trauma, cumulative stressors, chronic diseases, disabilities as well as to lean into the R&D that will assist in the healing & well being of seven generations forward. We need each other.

Your financial support is crucial to the alchemy of this project. Yes, it is easy to ask others to give when things are easy and comfortable, yet it is imparative to ask when it appears that there is no alternative.

The real work is in this unfolding moment to preserve the dream and create a long lasting future. To be transparent in this wave of COVID-19 has left me without the resources I thought I would have by now and so the project and I are struggling. The world is watching, and Africa is watching as NGO’s pull their people back to their home countries in fear. Leaving once again rich business men to negociate the wellfare of the continent.

In order for Tenesu! to survive these challenging times, I need to raise $6-10,000 by 31st of March 2020. I am currently self-exiled in Kenya until the storm blows over and there are unpredictable costs related to this. If I should re-enter Ethiopia at this time there currently is a mandatory 14-day quarantine in a designated hotel that could cost me up to $125 dollars a day, before I even get clearance to return to my own home. So, even though I saw the tide coming I was unprepared for it like many of you. That being said this work is important and so desperately needed. So if you have the means to invest or help, please support my efforts and send your contributions and donations to paypal.me/njiamovement .

Thank you.

“it is the dreamer who points the way to the dream, yet only a few truly see what is possible. the activist who fights to protects the dream on all fronts, facing inexhaustible odds. while it is the healer who protects the people so the dream can exist after the wake of the storm.” – Zochi
