In her message, Mrs. Lensa referred to the Scripture text from 2 Samuel 20, “A women of peace who stood between two violent men “, where a woman of peace courageously stood between two violent men. She shared a profound message of wisdom, highlighting how this remarkable woman offered a peace advice that could save an event that could destroy and destroy a generation.

MYS this week

This week has been truly remarkable for our seminary as we celebrate the accomplishments and milestones of our dedicated students and faculty. We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Tarekegn Abate has successfully defended his PhD on Monday, April 8! Let us extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abate on this tremendous achievement. Your hard work, commitment, and passion have paid off, and we are proud to have you as part of our seminary community.

In addition to this fantastic news, we would like to highlight the valuable role of our Chapel program, as emphasized by our esteemed president, Reverend Dr. Bruke Ayele. He beautifully expressed, "Chapel serves as the central focus or core of our educational activities and experiences. The process of learning should result in the acquisition of three essential elements: knowledge, character, and skills." These words resonate deeply with our mission to provide a holistic education that nurtures the mind, shapes the heart, and practical abilities.

MYS acquired four containers of printing materials for its printshop. This was made possible in collaboration with Alamos Treading Co. The fifth one, with some printing machineries will arrive in next couple of weeks. The import of such significant amount of various kinds of papers from China will enhance the capacity of the printshop and in turn enhance the teaching-learning mission of the Seminary.

We are immensely grateful to God for His grace and guidance in our journey to serve His Kingdom. It is through His blessings that we are able to create an enriching and transformative environment for our students. Together, we strive to cultivate a community of learners who not only gain knowledge but also develop strong character and essential skills that will empower them to make a positive impact in the world.

Since its establishment, the MYS has recorded continued growth to fulfill its objective of training leaders, ministers, and teachers for the various ministries of the EECMY, Churches in Ethiopia and beyond.

The MYS has continued its effort of training people through the College of Theological Studies (CoTS) through educational programs of Master of Arts (MA) in Theology, regular and summer Bachelor of Theology (BTh), Theological Education by Extension (TEE), College of Distance Education (CoDE) and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) program and others.

MYS – this week!

What an incredible week it has been at Mekane Yesus Seminary! We kicked off the week with our highly anticipated Community Day celebration, and it was truly a time of unity, fellowship, and refreshment for our seminary community.

During Community Day, we immersed ourselves in a variety of engaging activities that brought us closer together. We played games that fostered friendly competition and allowed us to bond as a community. The program was filled with captivating dramas, thought-provoking literature, and beautiful poems that carried valuable lessons. And of course, we lifted our voices in praise and worship, singing to our Lord Jesus Christ.

One of the highlights of the day was the inspiring message delivered by our very own Reverend Tigistu Moges. His words resonated deeply with us, reminding us of our purpose and guiding us on our spiritual journey.

But the celebration didn't stop there! We all came together for a wonderful lunch, sharing a meal that nourished our bodies and strengthened the bonds of togetherness within our community. The laughter, conversations, and shared experiences truly enriched our time together.

One of the highlights was the trial lecture delivered by the Tarekegn Abate on Friday. we are happy to announce that he will be defending his PhD on April 08, Monday.

In addition to the joyous Community Day festivities, our dedicated students continued their journey of knowledge and growth, engaging in the last period of Block D. Where all of them come together every day in chapel service to pray and learn the Word of God.

As we reflect on this week's events, we are filled with thanks for our Lord Jesus Christ for the vibrant and supportive community we have at Mekane Yesus Seminary.

MYS - News Community Day at Mekane Yesus Seminary

Today was an extraordinary day at Mekane Yesus Seminary as our students, professors, office workers, and the entire seminary community came together to celebrate Community Day! It was a day filled with joy, fellowship, and spiritual enrichment. Let's take a glimpse into this remarkable event!

The session began with a heartfelt prayer, as we sought the blessings and guidance of our LORD for the day's festivities.

We then raised our voices in unison to offer an awe-inspiring song of praise to our Lord Jesus Christ. The melodies echoed throughout the campus, the community worshipped God with songs of praise.

Reverend Tigitu Moges, an amazing speaker, graced us with his presence and delivered a powerful sermon rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He shared valuable insights on our divine calling and reminded us of the purpose for which we were created. It was a profound time of reflection and inspiration.

Following the sermon, we headed to the playground for a friendly and exhilarating game that brought togetherness and unity within each participant. Laughter filled the air as seminary members showcased their skills and fostered a sense of camaraderie.

As the sun reached its zenith, We were treated to a delectable lunch prepared with love and care by the dedicated staff of Mekane Yesus Seminary. Our taste buds were delighted, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff for their culinary expertise.

The afternoon session was an absolute delight, brimming with fruitful and enjoyable activities. We embarked on a praise and worship session, where we lifted our voices and hearts in adoration together. Poems, games, and laughter filled the room as our professors and students engaged in friendly competitions, fostering a sense of unity.

The highlight of the afternoon was a captivating teaching drama that enlightened us about the essence of the Church and emphasized the importance of unity. It was a thought-provoking performance that left a lasting impression on our hearts and minds.

We are immensely grateful to God for being a part of this remarkable day of celebration and togetherness. The Mekane Yesus Seminary community came together as a family, strengthening our bonds and nurturing our souls.

MYS this Week.

What an incredible week it has been at our seminary. Following the successful completion of our students' Block C exams, our graduating students have been busily preparing for their upcoming graduation. They've had a blast capturing unforgettable moments in their stunning graduation attire for our graduation magazine.

This week we also had the privilege of hosting the V/President of Missions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil (ELCB), Rev. Heder Pieper Gumz, paid a short visit to MYS on this week. Currently two Brazilian Professors from ELCB are teaching at MYS. Rev. Gumz's pastoral visit is both in strengthening the partnership and ties between the two church bodies and visiting the missionaries from his home church. MYS sincerely appreciated the partnership and such visits in strengthening it and experience sharing as well.

Furthermore, The local government body, Woreda 02 of Nefas Silak Lafto Sub-City administration recognized MYS's strong community engagement and service in the last six months as it has been the years before. MYS involved in sharing holiday gifts for the most needy people in the woreda. Currently the Seminary is involved in low cost building initiative for most needy people again. The Woreda Administrator, W/ro Seada, offered a Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation for the good work and contribution by the Seminary.

In addition to these wonderful events, The Bible Society of Ethiopia (BSE) celebrated Bible week involving huge Exhibition of Spiritual books in Ethiopia, Symposium, panel discussion, and Seminar on several topics related to its Mission. The MYS President and Board Member of the BSE, Rev. Dr. Bruk Ayele, presented a paper on the influence of the Bible and the role of translators in this mission. He also contributed as a panelist on very timely issues related to Scripture engagement and the values of Scripture in nation building. On the closing day of the week, top leaders from all trinitarian mainline church attended and passed massages.

We couldn't be more thrilled about the remarkable achievements and memories made during this extraordinary week.

MYS this Week

We are delighted to share the highlights of the blessed and fruitful week at Mekane Yesus Seminary! It has been a week filled with significant events and accomplishments that demonstrate our commitment to academic excellence and the work of the Kingdom of God.

This week, our theology, Music, and Media students faced their exams with dedication and determination. We commend their efforts and encourage them to continue pursuing knowledge and growth in their respective fields.

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, we had the privilege of hosting an exceptional academic seminar in the esteemed Emmanuel G/Selassie Hall. The event was graced by Professor Jean-Claude Loba Mkole, representing the United Bible Societies (Nairobi) and the University of the Free State (Bloemfontein). The captivating theme of the seminar was "Intercultural Hermeneutic: Lifestyle, Discipline Method, and Paradigm." The insightful presentation enlightened our community and fostered a deeper understanding of intercultural perspectives in biblical interpretation.

MYS Academic Dean, Dr. Ebisse Gudeta, recently had an interview with the World Lutheran Federation. This opportunity allowed Dr. Ebisse to share our seminary's vision, mission, and commitment to theological education.

Furthermore, during this eventful week, a team from the All African Council of Churches visited our seminary and with the MYS senate and Faculty members planted fruit trees at our Seminary compound, symbolizing our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

Above all, we give thanks to God for His grace and guidance throughout this week. We acknowledge His presence and blessings, which have enabled us to have a fruitful and impactful week in the Work of the Kingdom of God. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and equip our students for their future ministries.

Here's a recap of the fantastic week at Mekane Yesus Seminary. Amidst our regular seminary activities and the remarkable learning journey of our students, we had some noteworthy events and significant developments to share with you.

This week, we organized an extraordinary program where we bid farewell to our outgoing board members who have been instrumental in the seminary's growth and development over the past seven years. Our Church President and other dignitaries were present to express gratitude for their exceptional service. We are immensely grateful for their dedication and wish them abundant blessings in their future endeavors.

We extend a warm welcome to our incoming board members. Our esteemed President, Reverend Dr. Bruke Ayele, had a productive meeting with them to discuss the seminary's vision and goals. We are excited about their joining our team and look forward to their invaluable contributions as we continue to grow and advance the work of the Kingdom of God.

In addition to the above, our President Reverend Dr. Bruke Ayele share a meaningful video message about the season of Lent. In his address, he emphasized the importance of spending this time in prayer, cultivating the right mindset, and approaching the season with humility of heart and sincere repentance. We encourage everyone to reflect on his words and embrace the Lenten season as a time of spiritual renewal and introspection.
