📍The oldest refugee camp in Ethiopia 🇪🇹, Kebribeyah has been hosting over 18,000 refugees for the past 30 years.

UNHCR Ethiopia Representative Andrew Mbogori explains how working closely with Somali Regional State, Refugees & Returnees Service - RRS and partners, we'll trasform it into a settlement with improved integrated services for refugees and host communities alike.

On Day 2 of their visit, donors travelled to Kurmuk Transit Center, at the border with , where for over a year,+21,700 refugees have sought shelter. 13 months later, as resources are wavering at the transit centre, refugees urgently need durable solutions for their future.

Donors also visited Ura site, where UNHCR, & partners will gradually relocate refugees staying at Kurmuk Transit Centre. The new Ura settlement will integrate refugees with their hosts from the start, strengthening local health & education services & infrastructures.

Kebribeyah, in the region, is Ethiopia’s oldest refugee camp. Here, over 16,000 refugees have lived together with their hosts for 30 years. UNHCR Ethiopia Representative Andrew Mbogori met with refugee leaders and visited local services accessed by both refugees and hosts.

Mr. Mbogori also met with Kebribeyah’s mayor to renew UNHCR and partners’ commitment to support local authorities in realising the Kebribeyah Roamap, an inclusion plan that seeks to achieve a unified settlement with no parallel service systems over the next 5 years.
