Discussions focused on how UNHCR can work closely with Humanitarian NGOs to better coordinate and streamline its and IDP response in Ethiopia.

Gender-based violence is more prevalent when people are away from their homes and communities.

To prevent and respond to , 48 social workers, healthcare professionals, teachers, legal professionals from NGOs and government received a 4-day training in Bokh, 🇪🇹.

UNHCR and Refugees & Returnees Service - RRS met with donor partners in to discuss challenges in joint refugee response in the country and how best to overcome them.

Last week, UNHCR directors visited two IDP sites in noting the great collaboration among partners in relocating 5,000 IDPs from the overcrowded Endabaguna site to Mai-Dimu site. Tigray remains in critical need for support, especially for refugee returnees fleeing .

Along with , we're hosting a delegation of representatives from 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇨🇭🇳🇴🇮🇪 who support solutions for through resettlement and complementary pathways like scholarships or labour mobility.

Today, our directors were in visiting the Gulele Urban Branch Office managed by where over 77,000 urban refugees can come to get registered, receive documents for their newborns, and renew their IDs.

On Day 2 of their visit, donors travelled to Kurmuk Transit Center, at the border with , where for over a year,+21,700 refugees have sought shelter. 13 months later, as resources are wavering at the transit centre, refugees urgently need durable solutions for their future.

Donors also visited Ura site, where UNHCR, & partners will gradually relocate refugees staying at Kurmuk Transit Centre. The new Ura settlement will integrate refugees with their hosts from the start, strengthening local health & education services & infrastructures.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency had the pleasure to host a delegation of donors from 14 different countries visiting Ethiopia! 🇨🇦🇩🇰🇪🇺🇫🇷🇫🇮🇩🇪🇮🇪🇮🇹🇯🇵🇳🇱🇳🇴🇸🇪🇨🇭🇺🇸 last week.

Delegates travelled from Somali region to the Sudan border to learn how UNHCR works with RRS & partners to assist refugees in 🇪🇹.

Kebribeyah, in the region, is Ethiopia’s oldest refugee camp. Here, over 16,000 refugees have lived together with their hosts for 30 years. UNHCR Ethiopia Representative Andrew Mbogori met with refugee leaders and visited local services accessed by both refugees and hosts.

Mr. Mbogori also met with Kebribeyah’s mayor to renew UNHCR and partners’ commitment to support local authorities in realising the Kebribeyah Roamap, an inclusion plan that seeks to achieve a unified settlement with no parallel service systems over the next 5 years.

UNHCR Ethiopia Representative Andrew Mbogori met with Somali Regjonal State Vice President Ibrahim Ousman Farah in Jijiga, Somali region.

The Representative commended the Somali Regional State for their invaluable assistance to and the Government of🇪🇹's leadership in refugees' inclusion in the region.

Mr Mbogori also met with Refugees & Returnees Service - RRS, UN agencies and NGO partners working on the ground to discuss challenges in the current response and innovative solutions to better assist Somali refugees in the region.
