MIU summer recap 🌸🌊☀️🗺️

Vacation mode on!☀️ We finished our spring season this Thursday and now we are going to spend the next six weeks on a holiday.

Tiina ”Turtsi” Turunen and Maikki Merilehto. The passion and warmth that Turtsi and Maikki have brought to our everyday life has given us a new spark. 🥹✨
We are so excited about the future! 😍

Did you know?:
1. They are both former MIU skaters, Maikki during years 2000-2006 and Tiina 2007-2012.
2. Tiina has coached 10 of us when we were skating in our clubs novice team.
3. Maikki has won the World Championship title three times.

A coach, a leader, a pioneer, a mentor and so much more. We can’t thank you enough for everything you have given us, every individual now and over the years and to the whole synchronized skating community.

Through your hard work and dedication, insane creativity and courage you made us the most successful team in the world during your 30-year career as the head coach of MIU.

Each season you’ve transformed our programs into art in a way no other ever could have imagined. Throughout the seasons, even when we were at our lowest, you have always believed in us, never lost hope, and you have been the driving force behind us during this whole journey.

You have taught us far more than the name of the game; you have instilled within us the values of discipline, resilience, teamwork and to always keep a positive mindset no matter what. You have challenged us to push beyond our limits and to never settle for anything less than our best. You have not only made us world-class athletes, but also raised us to be determined in every discipline of life.

As we move forward, we’ll always remember the values you’ve taught us, the beauty of unity, and the community you have created. We will carry with us the wisdom, the passion, and the spirit of a truly remarkable coach. Your influence extends far beyond the doors of the ice rink, leaving an indelible mark on our lives and our hearts.

National Silver Medalists 2024! 🥈

Last weekend was full of emotions. We truly left our hearts on the ice and fought together until the very end. The audience was energetic and we felt the support. 🫶🏼
It goes without saying that we are dissapointed to not qualify for Worlds, which was one of our main goals. However, we are proud of ourselves and the performances we were able skate. 💪🏼💜

Congratulations to the Finnish Champions & to the bronze medalists . Good luck for your preparation towards Worlds!🤩

Marco Bjuström vieraili harjoituksissamme viime lauantaina! 😍 Marco on arvostettu tanssinopettaja, koreografi sekä ohjaaja. Kiitos lämpimästä ja inspiroivasta energiasta, jonka sait tuotua mukanasi treeniimme. Arvokkaiden vinkkien avulla meidän on hyvä lähteä kohti tämän kauden huipentavia kilpailuja. Mozart Cup 2024! 🥇🤍

We skated this competition with a really good fighting spirit! We had last minute skater changes so it made the preparation a little more challenging than usual. Even though our performances weren’t our best we managed to enjoy the great atmosphere at the rink! The audience was vibrant and gave us a lot of energy! 💥🔥

Our next competition is in two weeks. Now we focus on getting us all healthy before we get back to training next week. 💪🏼

Challenger Series 2024 winners! 🥇💜

We rose from the second place to the first, which we are proud of. This was the first ever Challenger Series competition that we won in. 🤩

We have had good and intensive training weeks preparing towards the international competition season. We are not entirely satisfied with our free program performance as we missed some important technical levels. We are going to keep the good spirit up and work together to reach our full potential! 🤍

We celebrated Vilma’s graduation last Saturday. Congratulations beautiful! 🤍🫶🏼✨

A weekend full of emotions. 🫶🏼💪🏼

We weren’t able to reach our full potential in our short program. We had a fall in the first element but managed to skate the rest of the program like practiced.
On Sunday we skated a clean and improved free program. We received a new season’s best score which we can be super proud of.

Torstaina Ella ja Emi pääsivät tutustumaan ja .fi järjestämässä koulutustapahtumassa hengitysvalmennukseen ja Cryon-huippukylmähoitoihin.

Oli mielenkiintoista ja opettavaista kuulla hengitysvalmentaja ja fysioterapeutti Tomi Räisäsen oppeja hengityksen ja maksimaalisen suorituskyvyn yhteydestä. Tilaisuudessa ehdittiin nykäistä Tomia myös hihasta ja saada pikaopetus sykevälivaihtelun (HRV) nostamisesta hengityksen avulla.
Kiitos Tomi arvokkaista opeista, jotka tarttuivat heti mukaan arkeemme!

Mielenkiintoista oli myös päästä konkreettisesti kokeilemaan, millaisia Cryon-huippukylmähoidot ovat.

Kiitos ja .fi taitoluisteluvalmentajille suunnatun koulutustapahtuman järjestämisestä ja mahdollisuudesta myös urheilijoiden osallistua mukaan.

Synchro Tour 2023 evening competitions are now behind us!
We placed third on both evenings. 🥉
We skated an energetic short program, but had some technical errors which we of course didn’t want to have.
Our free program had two unfortunate falls in two different elements, but we managed to recover from them quickly. Going in to the free program competition we had a little more difficult preparation than usual. Still being able to skate together makes this experience even more valuable to us. 💜

On Wednesday we will compete with our short program at the first ever evening competition!

We will be the last senior team to take the ice at 20.08. 👠💋❤️
