The season is almost here! First round of tastings is just around the corner and we’ll be launching our summer flavors in a couple of weeks for our wedding customers. Our strawberry cake combining basil, black pepper and strawberries was by far the most popular pick among last year’s couples. The year before that, it was red currants and rose water. So interesting to see what’s it going to be this year! 👀 Any ideas?

I’m giving away two of my new books The Queen of Cakes, either in Finnish or in English, you choose. You also get to choose if you wish to keep the book for yourself or if you want us to send it to someone special.

The first layer of the book is obviously about cakes, the second about other sweet treats and the third about cake artistry. My goal was to create something that would make gluten free baking easily approachable and would offer something new for everyone no matter your skill set.

The recipes in the book are gluten-free – just like the kitchen of the author, cakeartist Mona Tähtinen () . “I hope to contribute something fresh and new to the realm of cake artistry. A desire to challenge misconceptions became the driving force for the story of my company. I had to come up with my own recipes that work!”

We had a good discussion about mistakes with my daughter this morning as she was working on her bullet journal for this year. “Mistake” -> Meltdown-> will to destroy and start over/give up changed into “mistake”-> curiosity-> change of perspective-> something new.

Thought why is it so difficult even for us adults, or maybe especially for us adults? I was left thinking about how social media, the school system, work environment etc. enforce this idea of mistakes being a negative thing and automatically leading into failure.

Even though I hate New Year’s resolutions, I’ll make one now; I’ll promise to share more mistakes with you in the future. Even thinking about starting a mistake journal! Would be so interesting to see what I categorize as a mistake and how I react to those mistakes.😅

This cake was for the lovely ‘s Christmas party. I made a few mistakes with it, both related to temperature! I need to experiment a bit more, but one of those mistakes might end up into my book as a tutorial. 😉 The book will be available both in English and in Finnish and will be released this spring.📚🍰🎨
