The second of the three sessions completed this evening, with CSOs from around the Pacific sharing the challenges and recommendations for the new Political Declaration. Issues around shifting services to community based organisation, testing, gender-sensitization, decriminalisation of homosexuality and holding government accountable to the response on HIV, were some of the key points that were discussed.

Tomorrow at 11am, the third and the final session will be conducted.

Sincere appreciation to all those that dialed in, and Ranadi Kei Viti for stepping to help moderate the session.

Partnership completes TC Yasa community drive initative in Bua Students within the Bua province recently received stationery from Ignite4Change in partnership with the Fiji – Asia Pacific Youth Service and Desire to Inspire Network.

Desire to Inspire Network collaborated with Fiji Ambassador-Asia Pacific Youth Service & Ignite4Change in a TC Yasa Community Drive.

The team commenced its journey by reaching out to schools as well as communities in the Bua region that have been deeply affected by TC Yasa.

The team handed out 16 bails filled with stationery, clothes, kitchenware and other essentials during its outreach reaching out to Namau Primary School, Naikavaki College, Bua Primary School and Bua District School.

The team also visited Sawani and Nasarawaqa Villages comprised of 72 and 81 families respectively and students as well as families were grateful for the timely assistance from the respective organisations.

Desire to Inspire as well as its fellow partners thanks organizations and individuals from Western and Central Division that had made the TC Community Drive a success.

Suit up for a mission to the International Space Station or train for a landing on the moon this August! Space Camp is the ultimate educational experience that illuminates real-world applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. You can work as a team and confront mission scenarios that require dynamic problem solving and critical thinking — skills required in the 21st century workplace. Throughout the week, you will be immersed in astronaut training techniques using equipment adapted from NASA’s astronaut program. You will learn about space hardware, enjoy an educational water activity and experience a spaceflight mission while learning about aerospace career opportunities.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, to attend Space Camp with all expenses paid, will give you a taste of what it takes to be an astronaut and other careers in aeronautics, engineering, information technology, and physics, among others.

Embassy Suva is sponsoring this competition to encourage youth to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) and prepare them to be competitive members of the 21st century workforce. This competition, in conjunction with other STEAM activities and an upcoming girls’ science camp in August, demonstrate the United States’ commitment to developing the youth and opening doors to new opportunities.

Camp Dates: August 21-29, 2020

Application Dates: February 11 – March 31, 2020

Requirements: Aged 16-18 during the Space Camp; Fluency in English; B Grade (80%) Average or higher; citizen and resident of Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga or Tuvalu; a valid passport; and complete on-time application.
