Thank you Pacific Island Arts PIA for the support to our Ministry of Health and Medical Services Hibiscus Queen Constestant 👸 💖
We salute our Ministry of Health and Medical Services Queen who paraded the colours symbolizing the WELLNESS APPROACH. We stand in awe of her stand to use the Hibiscus platform to continue to promote messages of Wellness and wellbeing and being a strong advocate for mental health and the fight against NCDS and HIV.
Below is the narrative on her costume for Pacific Night:
Meaning of the MoHMS Pacific night costume.
• White tapa symbolises possessions. In the Pacific Islands Tapa is an asset treasured from generation to generation. Wrap around the body that we lived in for protection and health. Taking care of your physical body is good for your mental health. He who has health has hope and who has hope has everything.
• Cane is used to ease pressure and symbolises power and authority. The colours on the cane represent all diseases that we fight against and only you and I have the power to prevent and eliminate these diseases.
• The conch shell is the emblem of sovereignty, and its spiral shape is often seen as representation of infinity and the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. This form mirrors the journey of the soul, winding towards enlightenment and higher consciousness. Also used in our pacific islands to foster unity amongst our people and the sound of the conch shell is a call to attention for the Pacific people to fight against Non-Communicable Diseases and promote wellness. The hard texture of the shell makes one’s mind stronger, resilient and determined
CAPE
• cape symbolizes heroism, virtue and courage.
• The colours on the cape represent the Wellness concept approach of harvesting the Wellness throughout the life cycle. From conception to the golden ages.Using the colors of the rainbow giving the message of hope in our journey of life that we can work together in promoting Wellness in all stages of life for better and healthier nation.
STAFF
The colours of the ribbons symbolizes the different noncommunicable diseases that we are fighting against as a nation.
