📣 The 2024 Drift Eliminator certification test campaign is complete!

📢 The last week in June played host to the UK’s largest event for heat, water, air and energy technology professionals, the Installershow.

📍Taking place in the heart of England at the NEC Birmingham, Eurovent Certita Certification joined a line-up of some 650 exhibitors on stand 5G73. This year’s event was bigger than ever, boasting 50% more floorspace, 300 speakers across 10 content streams and some 20,000 visitors.

💡The Eurovent Certification team was on hand to catch up with manufacturers, while educating installers, designers and specifiers, on how to identify sustainable and proven, energy efficient HVAC products.
🎯 With heat pumps taking centre stage at the UK show, a key aim was to focus on the advantages of installing Eurovent certified heat pumps, to reduce risk and build trust between manufacturers, HVAC professionals and end users.

📣 Last week a synergy meeting brought together colleagues from across Eurovent Certification, Eurovent, Eurovent India, Eurovent Middle East, Eurovent Market Intelligence and ProdBIM for a day of discussion and presentations around strategy and synergy.

🎯 With a global workforce spanning different countries, continents and organisations, the focus was on building understanding and collaboration throughout the entire Eurovent family.
The meeting first explored the key aims and values of each entity, bringing insight into the roles and responsibilities undertaken and the core strategy for each body. After opportunities to ask questions and digest all the information, next the meeting moved onto an open discussion, with suggestions on how to build common ground, while also respecting and protecting the unique roles of each organisation.

💡With improving communication between all colleagues and external parties a vital topic, talk turned to the tools and techniques available to aid collaboration and streamline communication across all the organisations.
🗨 After much lively debate, the synergy meeting came to a close with final thoughts on strategy. All left in strong agreement that the meeting had laid valuable foundations for better synergy throughout the Eurovent family.

From 4th-5th June, 43 select professionals from across all spheres of the cold chain industry joined together in Wiesbaden, Germany, for the EUROVENT KÄLTE KOLLOQUIUM. Hailed as a two-day event dedicated to scrutinising the latest trends in refrigeration, the Kolloquium saw operators, planners and manufacturers explore the intricacies of reliable refrigeration systems for the cold chain, "From Farm to Supermarket."

Organised by Eurovent Certification and COOLPLAN, with media partners CCI and KKA, the event offered a comprehensive technical programme, complemented by on-site visits, to perfectly blend theory and practical, to encourage learning, discussion and networking.

With presentations analysing the innovative projects paving the way for decarbonisation and net-zero, to boldly tackling problems such as underperformance and its impact on food quality and energy efficiency, the Kolloquium did not shy away from contentious issues. InstallerSHOW 2024 | Largest heating, plumbing & renewables expo InstallerSHOW 2024 is the UK’s largest event for influential installers and specifiers of heat, water, air, and energy technology.

⚗️ Hydrogen was the topic of the day on 13th June, as the UK arm of Eurovent Certification, expanded their knowledge at the Hydrogen Summit: Hydrogen Innovators and the Future. Hosted at the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) in East London, Business Partnership Manager, Ian Butler and Jenni Preston, from the Marketing and Sales Development team, attended the one-day summit, taking place during London Tech Week.

💡 The Hydrogen Innovators and the Future summit was targeted at innovators, investors, research institutions and industries interested in pursuing hydrogen as a viable energy form in the journey towards net zero. The event aimed to explore the potential for hydrogen and the opportunities and challenges being created by innovators working in the sector. The event also shared insights into the hydrogen ecosystem being created within the Thames Estuary region.

The Eurovent Certification team learned that:
🔹 Hydrogen has a key role to play in decarbonising industrial and transport applications in the UK.
🔹 However, confidence in hydrogen technologies is low and needs to be built.
🔹 It is vital to develop skills throughout the entire hydrogen supply chain.
🔹 As the demand for hydrogen increases, so too will the need for the cooling equipment vital in both the production and storage of hydrogen.

📢 Last week on 6th June, the Eurovent Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ met in Madrid at the UNE - Asociación Española de Normalización (Spanish Standardisation Association) Headquarters. The meeting kicked off with a presentation by Fernando Machicado, Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator (UNE) on the association’s organisational structure and ongoing activities.

The group offered participants the opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues including:
🔹 Interpretation of rated heat output (Prated)
🔹 Tolerances of measurement for process chillers
🔹 Updates on Eurovent activities in TF-EPD and TF-TAXO
🔹 Upcoming Task Force on IT Cooling
🔹 Publication of the Recommendation 18/2 on SEPR for VHT process chillers
🔹 Recent exchanges with the European Commission.

The meeting also included an overview of UNE’s testing laboratories at Test, Innovation and Services Centre. CEIS. Thanks go to UNE for hosting the meeting at their offices and to all those who participated and contributed during the meeting.

Figures from the World Health Organisation on household air pollution show that:
☠️ Household air pollution was responsible for an estimated 3.2 million deaths per year in 2020, including over 237,000 deaths of children under the age of 5.
🩺 Household air pollution exposure leads to noncommunicable diseases including stroke, ischaemic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer.

Yesterday the UK based team at Eurovent Certification gathered with manufacturers, distributors, developers, consultants and HVAC professionals at the House of Lords for the CIBSE Patrons Lunch.

Business Partnership Manager, Ian Butler, and Jenni Preston, Marketing and Sales Development, attended the prestigious event, organised by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). The lunch offers the opportunity to discuss the latest industry issues and network with fellow CIBSE patrons, while taking in the atmosphere of the Palace of Westminster.

The speaker at this year’s event was Garret Emmerson, former CEO of the London Ambulance Service. He discussed the immense challenges faced by the London Ambulance Service at the start of the COVID pandemic. Garret gave a masterclass in resilience, out of the box thinking and the power of networking, as he recounted how he and his team rapidly doubled the capacity of the service to cope with COVID-19.

For Eurovent Certification, the event offered the welcome chance to catch up with certified manufacturers in the UK market, meet distributors and those out working in the field. Thanks go to CIBSE for a fantastic event.

📣 Each year, REHVA organises a competition in Europe to honour and recognise the most outstanding HVAC students. The competition is fierce and provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills and knowledge. Eurovent Certita Certification is a dedicated sponsor of the student award, using it as an opportunity to both encourage and recognise the rising stars of the industry.

💡Prior to the competition, each REHVA member association is allowed to nominate one candidate per country, following its own national competitions. The works submitted to the competition are based on a master's or bachelor's theses and can be on any topic in the field of heating, ventilation, or air conditioning. In addition, a ‘Best Poster’ award is granted based on the scientific level of the submission, and the graphical quality of the poster.

📍 This year’s final was held at the 68th REHVA Annual Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. On 16th May, 15 students from 13 countries presented to the judging panel, then nervously waited to see who would be crowned the winner of this year’s student competition. Eurovent Certification Project Manager, Mustafa Dilsen, was on hand to present the prizes.

📣 The 17th RoomVent Conference - RoomVent 2024 - brought together policymakers, designers, researchers, engineers, and other professionals at Stockholmsmässan in Stockholm, Sweden, from 22nd-25th April.
💡The theme of this year’s RoomVent was ‘Healthy air together - when scientific and industrial advances meet the needs of society.’ Running alongside the Nordbygg exhibition, RoomVent 2024 made a triumphant return to the city where it all began in 1987, and proved why it is one of the world's most important conferences in ventilation and indoor climate.

🤝 The full Eurovent family of Eurovent Certification, Eurovent association, Eurovent Market Intelligence and ProdBIM were at Nordbygg, and had the opportunity to visit the RoomVent conference. Eurovent association where an endorsing organisation of RoomVent, with Eurovent Deputy Secretary General, Stijn Renneboog, taking part in the Systemair panel discussion on “IAQ by design, not demand: Cultivating healthy indoor air as a cornerstone of the built environment.”

💡Swedvac (EMTF) was the main organiser, in collaboration with Svensk Ventilation and Nordbygg, which ran alongside RoomVent from 23rd-26th April.
