Nissan RB26 billet cylinder head design stage cont'd....

With it being a public holiday and me being in recovery mode after helping out at the race track all weekend, I thought I would put in a few hours to tick off another thing off the to-do list, exhaust ports.

I designed these to be as close as possible to factory so customers can continue the development of their own existing profiles without the need to start all over again if I were to change it all up. I don't think offering a finished port at this stage is a smart thing to do since so many people have different ways to port and making this the most flexible offering is what is key in my mind at this point in time.

The idea is to offer a product that customers can modify to suit their own needs and specifications. The current port design being used is not the limiting factor in increasing performance, as there are other changes that can be made to do this and the reliability people are chasing is simply going to be coming from a far more rigid base material, 6061 T6 aluminium.

After speaking to a bunch of people in both the RB/2JZ market, at this point in time of development, there is a reluctance to change inlet/exhaust manifolds which I can completely understand, Not only that, but retaining the existing ones will help prove the product while minimising any other external influences which may hide or enhance the performance gains from the head alone.

The most existing thing is that material for 5 cylinder heads has been ordered, and I am expecting that to come in this week.

Next on the list is the inlet ports, then oil supply/return, and then go over everything before I get too excited and start programming.

This seems to be coming together nicely with the programming already being contemplated in my head as the design comes along.
