There are treatments to slow the progression of age-related macular degeneration, but the truth is these treatments are mainly for wet late-stage AMD and they come with a high burden. The SING IMT™️ is the only surgical solution available in Europe to allow late-stage AMD patients to regain their vision.

Researchers discovered the high unmet needs of patients living with age-related macular degeneration by analyzing patients from the Fight Retinal Blindness (FRB!) registry. The study showed that high treatment burden is common issue in routine clinical practice in Europe, with a quarter of patients requiring injections of conventional VEGF inhibitors every 6 weeks at 2 years and 40 percent discontinuing treatment within 2 years.

Imagine not being able to recognize people on the street or read text. This is what happens to late-stage AMD patients—they lose the ability to do these seemingly simple tasks. But, after the implantation of the first intraocular telescope, the SING IMT, these patients can regain their independence back. This patient recounts her transformation with a low vision rehabilitation expert at her rehabilitation session. For someone living with age-related macular degeneration, the SING IMT™ can restore hope by reconnecting them simple tasks that provide independence and bring joy. #ophthalmology #medicaldevice #lifesciences #medicaltechnology

Should artificial light at night (ALAN) be added to the list of risk factors for age-related macular degeneration? ALAN is known to have a substantial impact on the retina and optic nerve, potentially resulting in both indirect and direct damage to ocular tissue. In a recent study, researchers researchers investigated the association between residential outdoor artificial light at night (OALAN) and risk of incident exudative AMD (EAMD) using nationwide population-based data in South Korea. Read the study to learn what researchers determined about OALAN’s impact on AMD risk: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2813926 While late-stage AMD patients might not know the true cause of their AMD, they do have the opportunity for immediate support. The SING IMT™️ helps patients aged 55+ regain the central vision once lost to late-stage AMD. #AMDAwarenessMonth #LowVisionAwarenessMonth #MedicalDevice

Did you know that by 2040 an estimated 248 million people world-wide will be diagnosed with AMD? That’s an increase of 52 million from 2020. AMD has systemic and lifestyle components, meaning many factors, such as genetics, diet, exercise, environmental factors, and smoking, can all impact the risk for the disease. A new review article published in the Chonnam Medical Journal provides a solid overview of the condition. You can read the research here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10570864/ The SING IMT™️ is approved for late-stage AMD patients who are 55 years of age or older and is immediately available to support late-stage AMD patients in regaining back their vision. The SING IMT™️ is the only surgical treatment option registered to support the increasing prevalence of this disease among patients. #AMDawarenessmonth #ophthalmology #maculardegeneration

Just like last year, we were back at the Floretina Congress in Rome, Italy, and once again in the Cavalieri Room for a live surgery. This time on 1st December, Professor Francesco Boscia, from the University Hopital of Bari, successfully performed a SING IMT™ implantation. This was an excellent opportunity for attending surgeons to learn more about SING IMT™ and the valuable experience of Prof Boscia helping restore hope and independence to patients with late stage AMD. #SamsaraVisionEurope #SINGIMT #SINGIMTCommunity #AMD #ophthalmology

Last year it was a great moment when the whole Cavalieri room participated in the live surgery. This year, we are back to the Cavalieri room for another LIVE SURGERY with Professor Francesco Boscia, who will perform a Sing IMT™️ implantation on December 1st at 12:30pm. Don't miss this exciting opportunity! The Samsara Vision Team is waiting to meet you at Booth #43 on Floor -1. #SamsaraVisionEurope #SINGIMT #SINGIMTCommunity #AMD #ophthalmology

Sharing the final episode of our mini-series with Dr. Paola Sasso, bringing light on the invaluable insights gained from her experience. In this episode, she delves into the journey that has significantly impacted the field of eye care. Dr. Sasso explores the historical separation between clinical/surgical and rehabilitation aspects, which traditionally have run in parallel. The introduction of the SING IMT™ has forced these to work together, fostering collaboration and addressing the complexities experienced by patients suffering from AMD. A sincere thank you to Dr. Paola Sasso for guiding us through this series. As we wrap up this mini-series, let's continue the conversation! In the latest entry of insights from Dr. Paola Sasso's mini-series of videos on the SING IMT, we focus on how to manage patient expectations before and after SING IMT™ implantation. She highlights patients' common desire for their vision to be restored to the level they had in their 20s, which is simply not possible using today's technology. While patients often initially express understanding when the advantages and drawbacks of the SING IMT™ are explained to them, frustration may emerge during the rehabilitation process as they grapple with the reality they are confronted with. Dr. Sasso emphasizes the team's ongoing efforts to support and encourage patients, hihglighting the genuine possibilities the system offers to them. Patient testimonial
Here we have another patient whose life changed by SING IMT™! This time it was a patient operated around 1 year ago by Dr Barbara Parolini from the EyeCare clinic in Brescia. Before the surgery, our patient, Mr. Di Giorgio could only see a single letter at 1.0. Post-implantation, the improvement is nothing short of astounding - he has gained 3 lines on the SING IMT™ operated eye in the ETDRS chart. We would like to thank Dr. Barbara Parolini for this great case and for being an active member of the SING IMT™ community. #SamsaraVisionEurope #SINGIMT #SINGIMTCommunity #AMD #ophthalmology

Prof. Dr. Ciro Costagliola and Prof. Mario Toro from the hospital Federico Secondo in Napoli, recently shared invaluable insights on the Italian news channel TG2 for the "Medicina 33" show. Welcome to the SING IMT™ community Dr Zapata! Another milestone achieved in the quest to offer hope to people suffering from age-related macular degeneration everywhere! A surgery to implant the SING IMT™ was successfully realised by Dr. Miguel Ángel Zapata Victori at the Hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona, Spain. This means another name is added to the ever-increasing list of patients who have received this implant that could transform their lives, and restore hope for a more independent life.
