The Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) Foundation was established in April 2015 with the purpose of promoting professional excellence within the RLC, with the emphasis on creating strong professional relationships with organisations from the wider logistics community from within industry, academia, professional bodies and professional media. Up until recently the RLC Foundation was part of the RLC Association Trust, a registered charity.
After 31 years of dedicated service and driven by a change to charity law, the RLC Association Trust has successfully transferred its operations to become The RLC Charity, now established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). In parallel, the RLC Foundation, as an integral element of the new charity, has also been required to restructure and change it's title to comply with Charity Commission legal guidance. Accordingly, the current RLC Foundation Board has become the Professional Excellence Committee of the RLC Charity, with a professional membership organisation, now rebranded as RLC Connect. This transition strengthens our ability to support the RLC family, our industry partners and academia, providing a more robust and flexible framework to continue our essential work. The move to a CIO offers enhanced legal protection and efficiency, ensuring that we can focus more resources on delivering valuable support where it is needed.
A huge thank you to our Partner Leidos for their assistance in creating our new logo which you will see more regularly our correspondence and social media post.

PA CONSULTING SPONSORED RLC FOUNDATION EVENT AT THE PA GLOBAL INNOVATION CENTRE, MELBOURN, HERTFORDSHIRE –
WEDNESDAY 2 OCTOBER 2024
Supported by an introduction from Director Joint Support Major General Phil Prosser and Wargaming Lead Major Tony Bryant, this event represented an opportunity for forty members of the Army logistic community and key logistic partners to engage in workshops looking at the logistical challenges currently facing Defence. The themes examined how the collaboration between military logisticians and industry counterparts could be developed and improved to support the operational deployment of the Army in a future conflict scenario. The aim being to enhance the understanding of each other’s processes and capabilities, identify opportunities and help develop closer cooperation and collaboration.
This event was hosted by PA Consulting at the recently refurbished Global Innovation and Technology Centre (GITC) in Cambridge. The day included a tour of the recently refurbished GITC, with over 10,000 m2 of laboratories and project space. The delegates viewed various projects such as the COVID 19 ventilator programme; Panama for automated IED detection, Water source for drinking quality water anywhere in the world, and PulPac demonstrating PAs build capabilities and sustainability drive. The tour represented an opportunity to highlight PA’s unique ability to combine science, engineering, design and human factors, amongst other capabilities. Delegates were surprised to discover PA’s capacity and flexibility in owning all stages of project delivery at GITC.
Thanks go to PA Partner Tim Smail and PA Senior leadership team Steven Carden, Adam Meadus and Adam Priest, ably supported by facilitators who so professionally steered participants to identify and capture the challenges, in ensuring that the event was such a great success. Also, a big thank you to the PA home team, Stuart Lusher, James Craig, Justin Revell, Erica Fuller and Nick Brehaut for organising this event.
On 22 July members of the RLC Foundation attended Ex LOG SAFARI at Worthy Down Camp. First up was Mr Simon Walmsley, the Director of the RLC Museum who gave everyone a fascinating insight into the history of the Corps, its forming Corps and their predecessors whilst explaining the history of many of the artefacts on display.
Next it was on to the RLC niche military capabilities demonstrations supported by briefings of how they operate both in the UK and on operations abroad. The demonstrations included Chefs from 10 Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR) Driver, Supplier and Communications Specialists from 4 Regiment RLC, a generic overview of Regimental capabilities from 13 Air Assault Support Regiment (AASR) and 47 Air Dispatch Squadron. There were bomb disposal demos from 11 Explosive Ordnance and Search (EOD) Regiment and their Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) and Ammunition Technicians (AT), and then finally the Postal and Courier and Movement Controllers from 29 Regiment RLC. It was also an opportunity for the Foundation members to meet with the Officer Cadets who are undergoing their phase 1 Leadership training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). The day would not have been complete without the usual outstanding curry lunch provided by the chefs from QOGLR. What an awesome day so a massive thank you to all those who attended and of course to a RLC military units for taking the time out of their very busy schedules.

A career and a trade so what’s not to like 👍
Calling all service personnel, regular or reserve why not try windsurfing in a safe environment and under excellent instruction. This course would cost civilians at a RYA centre in excess of £200 so for £20 it’s like someone forgot to add a zero to deliberately entice SP to sign up. See you on the water
It’s still on and Registration is still open for all service leavers.
