๐ก Iโve had an enriching day at the HR Inner Circle - HR Secrets Tour with Daniel Barnett, leading Employment Law Barrister! ๐
๐ Today we explored all things HR, got a sneak peek into 2024, and delved into updates on case law, holiday pay legislation changes, sexual harassment updates, and the hot topic of AI in the workplace as well as waiting for some outcomes in the courts on dismissal and re-engagement (fire and re-hire!)
๐ก There were some valuable discussions around one of my favourite topics - how HR can add value to organisations through talent acquisitions, talent retention, training and development, organisational development and wellbeing as well as HR administration.
๐ One of the take away points - what do your employees actually think about their organisations culture, mission statements and values (and do they care!!)
Some valuable information and insights gained today and canโt wait to put some of this into practice with my clients.
What a fabulous evening last night. Some networking with local businesses in and around Andover courtesy of and how lucky we were to be at if you are on the hunt for some art I highly recommend heading here. Even if you arenโt buying, go and have a look at the wonderful pieces that are on display. To round off the evening we had a selection of food from Jane and they never disappoint!
๐ฉโ๐งโ๐งTaking a bit of time out with the family, well 3/4 of the family as the husband is back home in the UK busy with his own work.
๐ Butโฆthe girls have taken a little trip to Portugal! The sun is (finally) shining and it feels nice to get some warmth on our skin and breathe in that sea airโฆ we really are at our happiest when the sun is shining and weโre on a beach!
๐ We all work so hard on the daily treadmill of life and itโs so important to take a little down time, relax, spend time with family or friends and make those memories.
Now pass me the cocktail menu!!!! ๐ง๐ง
๐ธ Today is World Menopause Day, but letโs remember that every day should be about recognising and supporting menopause. Itโs crucial to use this day to highlight its importance.
๐ข Does your business have a menopause policy? Do you provide management coaching and sofa sessions to support menopausal women in the workplace?
๐ช Letโs acknowledge the incredible work this lady has done over the years, raising awareness of menopause not only in the workplace but in society too.
โ๏ธ If you need support regarding menopause in the workplace, give Claire a shout!

Basking in the Sunshine at the Gin Palace ~ all in the name of employment law!
Today, combined my passion for employment law, disability discrimination, a fantastic networking opportunity, and a few hours of sheer delight at the brilliant Gin Palace.
As someone who is deeply committed to promoting inclusivity and equality, disability discrimination law has always been a topic close to my heart. And what better way to engage with this, than by taking it out into the real world, amidst good company and great conversations?
Reviewing case law might sound like an unusual way to spend a sunny afternoon, but when it's driven by passion, it becomes an absolute joy. We delved deep into recent developments, sharing insights and perspectives that enriched our understanding of the evolving landscape of employment legislation.
Moreover, this gathering wasn't just about workโit was about connections. Networking is the lifeblood of professional growth, and the Gin Palace was the perfect backdrop for forging new relationships and strengthening existing ones. We shared stories, experiences, and ideas, fostering a sense of community that transcends our individual roles and organisations.
Not a single drop of gin passed my lips at this session today, but if youโre looking for a fabulous night out in Andover then look no further than The Gin Palace.
Ahh the joys of commuting. Sat, waiting for a delayed train to London. Thankfully Iโve delivered this piece of training several times now so the nerves arenโt sky high panicking that Iโll be late, panicking that I wonโt know my stuff. Instead Iโm sat in the sunshine enjoying a cuppa. (Hoping that the train does make it soon!!!!) ๐ซฃ๐ซฃ
"๐ฟ Taking a Day for Me: Embracing Mental Health & Well-being ๐ฟ
Today, I'm all about self-care and balance. ๐โโ๏ธ It's crucial to prioritise our mental health, and what better way to do it than with friends and a sprinkle of knowledge?
๐ถโโ๏ธ First things first, I started my day with a refreshing walk with some of my dearest friends, a brilliant 6 miler with lots of muddy puddles! There's something magical about nature and laughter that instantly lifts the spirits. It's a simple yet effective way to recharge those mental batteries.
๐ After our walk (and cake) I delved into some employment law updates. ๐ Learning something new always ignites my curiosity and keeps me mentally sharp. Plus, understanding the changes and developments in employment law helps me to help you!
Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's necessary. ๐ So, take a day for yourself now and then, surround yourself with positive vibes, and keep expanding your knowledge. Your mental well-being will thank you! ๐
โ๏ธ And thatโs Manchester ticked off the list!
Another great session with managers talking about all things well-being in the workplace with a particular focus on disability awareness and reasonable adjustments.
Some really great conversations taking place over the past two days and hoping that this group of managers now feel better equipped to have conversations, start to break down those barriers and truly embrace an inclusive working environment.
Next stop London

๐ Elevating Workplace Well-being! ๐
I am thrilled to share that I am embarking on a new journey to support managers in fostering a culture of inclusivity, well-being, and adaptability.
Working with a brilliant organisation to deliver workshops aimed at equipping managers with the knowledge and tools they need to make reasonable adjustments for their teams. By fostering understanding and empathy, we can create workplaces that are truly inclusive and accommodating.
๐ Moreover, I am enthusiastic to introduce the concept of Workplace Health Passports. These passports will be a transformative tool to ensure that every team member's well-being is a top priority. It's not just about compliance; it's about caring for each other's mental and physical health. ๐ช
โ๏ธ Day one completed yesterday, with some brilliant managers with some really meaningful discussions. Second session running today in Hull. Next week Manchesterโฆ. Iโm on tour!!!! ๐ฃ๏ธ

๐โโ๏ธ From Surfing to Success: Embracing Perseverance ๐
Sharing a parallel between my daughter's first surfing experience and a valuable lesson in the workplace.
๐๏ธ During our holiday, my daughter hesitated to try surfing, nervous about the unknown waters. Just as in our careers, we encounter challenges that make us question our abilities. Her initial attempts didn't go as planned, and there were a few stroppy teenage moments! But her determination shone through.
๐๏ธ Similarly, in the workplace, not every project yields immediate success. There are many instances that we can look back and remember the setbacks, the challenges, but, just like my daughter's surfing journey, those moments of perseverance pave the way for eventual triumph.
๐๐ผโโ๏ธ Witnessing her progress from cautious wobbles to riding waves was a lesson in resilience. It reminded me that success often comes after multiple attempts and a willingness to learn from failures. In the professional realm, embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth can lead to remarkable achievements.
๐ So, whether it's riding waves or navigating corporate challenges, let's remember that initial failures are stepping stones towards eventual success. Stay resilient, learn from our experiences, and keep striving until we ride our own waves of triumph. ๐
๐๐ผโโ๏ธ oh and weโre going back for more lessons on Thursday!

The excitement of a massive white envelope on your doorstepโฆ..
Well thatโs my holiday reading sorted!!!!๐ค๐๐
๐ Exciting News!
๐ Iโve just completed the 6-week โLeap into HRโ bootcamp.
๐ The course is designed to help HR professionals transition from the world of corporate HR to the wonderful world of self employment.
๐ค Having dabbled in permanent employment for a bit last year, I was nervous about taking the leap back into self employment and this course has really helped me.
Throughout the programme Iโve gained invaluable insights, honed my skills, made some brilliant connections and friends and learned a lot from some fantastic professionals.
Weโre all excited to put our new found skills into practice and I for one am excited about the new challenges I am faced with to continue to support my existing clients as well as new ones!
How about these for a bit of well-being Wednesday!
One of my clients had these furry friends turn up today to help celebrate their staff bbq and well-being in the workplace.
With 60% of employees experiencing anxiety and only 10% seeking mental health support itโs proven that pet therapy can help provide comfort and reduce pain
Do you have any four legged friends that visit your workplace?
How brilliant is thisโฆ
As I went to today to get a new key cut, I came across a selection of booksโฆfree books!
Books about teenage mental health, books about peri-natal mental health and books about mental health in the workplace.
What a brilliant way to normalise conversations around mental health, both in the workplace but also in public.
Sir John Timpson, the co-founder of the business has co-written these books about mental health and they are free for customers in all their stores.
New employees of Timpsons are given these books as part of their induction and told that they can always talk about her mental health.
It certainly started a conversation in the shop with myself, my book loving 10 year old and the two employees. What a fantastic resource!
๐๐ผ๐๐ผ shout out to
Great day at the CIPD Festival of Work conference. These cute little guys were getting lots of attention and were very cute!
May go back tomorrow for a cuddle ๐ฉ๐โ๐ฆบ๐ฆฎ

So very proud and honoured to have taken part in the Moonwalk challenge on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
26.2 miles through London, which looked amazing all lit up. 6000 people all walking for breast cancer.
I walked with a team of 12 other fabulous ladies from Andover and we all finished in under 9.5 hours. Just incredible! Our youngest member was 14 and the oldest just a smidge over 70โฆ talk about inspirational!!!!
Hereโs a snippet of some of the action.
Todayโฆ a few calls, a few emails and not much walking!!!!
A massive thank you to each and every one of you that sponsored us or sent us well wishes, it certainly got us through the night.
So while Iโm not running Clarion HR and immersing myself in all things HR I am getting ready to walk 26.2 miles on Saturday in London overnight, taking part in the walk the walk moonwalk for breast cancer.
As many of you will know I had to take a little break from Clarion HR in 2021 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but after surgery, radiotherapy and medication for the next 5 years I can say that Iโm one of the ones that kicked cancers butt!
So, Saturday night myself and 12 other ladies (including my amazing 14 year old daughter) will be donning these bras, heading up to London and taking in the sights while raising money for this amazing cause.
If any of you want to still donate thereโs still time and it would mean the absolute world to me and the other ladies!
