So today marks my first year trading at Muldrews Butchers Markethill.
This past twelve months have certainly seen many challenges and changes, no doubt more may lie ahead.
I'm thankful to my family and staff for their support but ultimately it's you the customer that's the heartbeat of the business, customer's have so much choice these days so I sincerely appreciate how supportive and loyal you have been ( this literally keeps the door open).
I will continue to prioritise quality and although margins need to be made, I will not do this by cutting corners or selling sub-standard products, I will buy the best top grade beef so i can sell the best ... to quote Oscar Wilde " i have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best "

It seems only yesterday we were consumed by the talk of Brexit, elections and even Harry and Megan, fast forward just a month or two and our newspapers newsfeed and news bulletins are a barrage of the serious and sustained threat that the Coronavirus is bringing to our lives. This past week has seen many businesses closing their doors ( some forced) some like our friends at Alexander’s of Markethill making the hard decision to do so, this was to safe guard their staff and the customers alike.

As I was preparing for work this week the phrase ‘seeing is believing’ struck me, unfortunately Coronavirus is an invisible enemy and it’s march presently seems relentless, we have all felt it’s reach this past few weeks ( without seeing it's face) and have experienced dramatic changes in our day to day routines , how we work, shop and socialise but hopefully by embracing these changes we will all reap the dividends and not feel the full force of the virus.

I will continue to serve the community and keep the shop open as long as I remain healthy. Like so many other shops there will be extra measures within the shop to try and safeguard myself and customers alike such as
* a protective screen on the counter
* only 2 customers in the shop at any one time
* the shop door will remain open

This will ensure that customers do not touch any surfaces and will be able to adhere to the social distance policy.

I hope it is a reassurance that my produce is prepared solely by myself, handled hygienically and as little as possible. I hope that by over seeing every element of the business it will be a reassurance to you the customer. I was encouraged this past week by people practicing social distancing themselves it’s true the ‘simple things’ in life are the best well it is no different with this virus, simple measures by ourselves could save lives, hand washing (is our biggest defence) , social distancing (respecting people’s space) and of course self isolation especially if symptomatic, these three things will help prevent the spread of Coronavirus and hopefully take the pressures off our NHS workers which could make a huge difference.

Many people this week have pre-ordered via telephone so their order is ready for collection hence no standing about ( if possible please order the day before collecting although I will always try to accommodate you )I can also take the order and place it in your boot for you without you vacating the car, payment can be done over the telephone, contactless and cash ... if there is any other way I can be of service please get in contact.

I have always appreciated everyone who supports me as you the customer has so much choice these days , local businesses like Alexander’s, Hill’s and The Dolphin have been very loyal and supportive taking my products.
I would encourage you the public to support local as much as possible ,Markethill has always been close knit and with an abundance of community spirit, I hope that this will help maintain local businesses that are still trading and I look forward to seeing those that have temporary closed reopening again, when this pandemic passes I’m sure the town will flourish once again .

I sincerely hope that everyone and their family stay healthy.
On a brighter note my beautiful baby girl Molly-May took four consecutive steps the other day , like I said earlier it the “simple things “

Its always great when a customer has a special request ... last weekend Mr John Hooks hosted an Italian themed dinner party and the specialised choice cut of meat was a Florentine Steak .
Its an immensely impressive piece of meat and no doubt a talking point at any dinner table,
Dario Cecchini himself would have been proud !
For specialised quality cuts of dry aged beef get in contact and I'll be happy to help.

Some of our top grade beef ... this will hang and dry age to ensure tenderness and taste for Christmas and the new year .
A glimpse at what a traditional Butchers fridge should look like , no boxed beef in sight !
Quality will always be my priority.
