Just a reminder that the Year 12 Induction Day is due to take place on Monday 3rd July. Please ask students to arrive in A Block Hall for 8.30am for a prompt start. Students are not expected to wear school uniform, but must dress appropriately for a school environment. We are holding a yoga session during Period 3 on the day, as part of our Health & Wellbeing focus, so if students are interested in attending this they should also bring appropriate clothing for this session

You Are Brilliant!!
Last week teachers were asked to nominate outstanding 6th Form students in their subject area. Ms Carter wrote personalised cards for each student, and it's been great to see some very happy faces around the place!
54 of our Year 12 students spent yesterday's Bright Day enjoying a Taster Day at the University of Nottingham. Students learnt how to write the perfect Personal Statement, had a tour of the campus (which looked beautiful in the spring sunshine), had lunch in the Student Union and got an insight into how much university would cost them. It was a great day and all of the students represented the academy perfectly!
The Year 12 Induction Day has been moved from Friday 30th June 2017 to Monday 3rd July 2017, due to prom taking place on the evening of Friday 30th June 2017.
The date has been updated on the calendar on the school website, and further details will be sent out nearer the time regarding timings and content of the day.
If you have any queries regarding options or the Sixth Form in general, please contact Ms Carter at [email protected]
A small group of our Most Able Year 12 students recently enjoyed a taster day at the University of Oxford, Magdalen College. Accompanied by Ms Carter, Head of Sixth Form, they were taken on a tour of the beautiful grounds (including a deer park), talked to students currently studying at Oxford, delighted in a two course lunch and had a Classics lecture. Our students were absolutely fantastic and represented the academy brilliantly. Everyone involved agreed it was the perfect way to spend a Monday!
Sixth Form interviews for intake in September 2017 will take place after February half term. Students will receive their appointment times next week.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers 2017
Sainsbury’s Active Kids is back for 2017 and we are collecting once again. Any vouchers we receive by 30th June can be exchanged for a variety of sports and cooking equipment which all of our pupils, in all year groups, will benefit from.
The vouchers can be collected until 2nd May at all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and when ordering groceries online.
Students can drop the vouchers off at the collection box situated at the Pupil Support Unit in B Block.
Thank you for your continued support.
The Academy has introduced a new online payment system called Scopay to enable parents / carers to pay for items such as trips, music invoices, revision guides etc. Payments for dinners should continue to be made through sQuid.
Emails were sent on Monday 23 January 2017 that provided instructions and a link code to enable parents / carers to set up an account in order to make payments online.
In future the Academy would like all payments (other than dinners) to be made via Scopay.
Please contact Karen Wood or Denise Welton if you have any queries or require assistance in setting your Scopay account up.

Outside of school, Chloe Adcock (Year 12), is an accomplished martial artist and continues to enjoy great success at an international level.
Chloe has recently returned from the World Martial Kombat Federation (WMKF) Championships in Malta. She performed exceptionally well throughout the competition, and we are delighted to announce that she won four gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Incredibly, Chloe won a medal in every category she entered!
Chloe’s mum and dad are extremely proud of how hard she works and all of the effort she puts in to her training is certainly paying off.
Well done Chloe, we look forward to seeing you enjoy further success next year!

Arnold Hill Academy recently hosted their first Basketball National Schools League game against Carre’s Grammar School from Sleaford.
Arnold Hill were quick to take command, and their high-pressure defence led to 8 steals and an initial lead of 23-5. Although the team couldn’t replicate their high-scoring first quarter, they still found ways to score from offensive rebounds, and George Rayers drove through the opposition to the basket.
Arnold Hill won the game 56-30 with Matt Cooper draining a 3-pointer at the buzzer. A good win for their first competitive match this season, and we wish the team all the best when they take on Charnwood College in Leicestershire.
The team included: Matt Cooper, George Rayers, Bradley Johnson, Tom Chilton, Ronan Slater, Kadeem Kerr, Ethan Anderson, Rob Harris, Josh McFarlane, Louis Judd, Bill Wheatley and Zander Markgraaff.
