It’s All Appenin’ in Ashton this Weekend

IT’S Appenin’ Ashton is a cram-packed collection of fun, free, creative family activities and performances taking place at Ashton Library and Market on Saturday (February 17).

From 10am to 3pm you can enjoy the stomping carnival rhythms of Cacophony Arkestra; watch the misadventures of a charming postman in “Special Delivery”; be spellbound by the storytelling of the League of Curiosity; look out for dodos, octopuses, plus a very distinct pair of pensioners walking around the markets; and delight at the wonderful wares of Phantasmagoria whilst making your own crafty creations!

The half-term funfair will also be open, so there’s plenty for everyone to see and do.

It’s Appenin’ has been funded by the Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is organised by Tameside Cultural Services.

The same FOI request tells us that the big hit on revenue happened in the month of December. Tameside Council were concerned that if they offered 2 free parking weekends in December in Ashton, Stalybridge and Hyde they stood to lose around £8k in revenue compared to those weekends in the previous year…they were down almost £5k in one month on one car park….a A FALL OF around 45%…let alone the others….the potholes will never be repaired!
