Due to the HS2 road closure, We will not be holding our Churchyard Gardening Session this month at St John the Baptist, Sone on Saturday 17th August.

Once again, our amazing team has put together a fantastic flower display!

The period of time between Ascension Day (9th May) and Pentecost (19th May) is a special time of prayer for churches around the world of many different denominations.
Our church in Stone has taken part in this global prayer movement every year since it began in 2016.
This year our church members will be praying each evening

A new parent and toddler group for Stone, Buckinghamshire.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

We are sad to announce the passing the Rt Revd Dr Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham.

The Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft, has announced with great sadness the unexpected death of his colleague, the Rt Revd Dr Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham.

Paying tribute to Bishop Alan, Bishop Steven said: “Alan was a dear friend and colleague to many across the Diocese. Alan has deep friendships and pastoral relationships across both church and community in Bucks. He has offered remarkable leadership to our work in education and church schools over more than a decade. Alan has been a friend and advocate for survivors of abuse and a strong ally and supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community for many years.

“Alan had recently begun a well-earned sabbatical and was planning to use the time to plan and prepare for retirement in the next year. Alan loved God and loved God’s church with a rare passion. He was a bishop who prioritised the parishes and clergy in his care above everything else and served the people of Buckinghamshire with devotion over a long and demanding ministry.

“I will miss him as a friend and colleague. The Church has lost a wise, pastoral and prophetic bishop.”

We are hoping to improve the path from Bishopstone Road to the church porch, but it is very steep and we have to be careful as there are tombstones and monuments along the route as well as trees and roots to take into account.

The architect has measured the area and unfortunately, we can’t make a fully disabled compliant slope, but they have given us 2 options which we could do and we would like your views.

Please note that we will still have to do the best we can, but your answers will help us in the deliberations which are to be had.

We welcome all views from anyone within Stone, Buckinghamshire and further afield, those who use the path daily and those who only use the path on special occasions.
