This bespoke Shaker kitchen was designed, made and installed for repeat clients in their newly converted 150-year-old barn. The design and layout of the furniture pays respect to the stunning gabled roof and beamed ceiling. The central 2.4 metre island features cutlery and utensil drawers, with open shelving for pull-out drawers for bread and vegetables. An extended worktop provides room for bar stool seating at one end.

The angled space beneath the stairs is known as a spandrel. Because it tends to be a cool and dark area, it is ideal for wine storage. This bespoke glass-fronted wine cave has LED lighting to make a feature of it at night- a stunning way to add a talking point in an entrance hall. This traditional bespoke kitchen, designed and made by Simon Taylor Furniture features a Novy Panorama Pro 90 Vented Downdraft Induction Hob in the centre of the island. This recirculation hob has an integrated ventilation tower that rises up to 30cm to extract cooking vapours at source - directly behind the pans. When not in use, the tower is completely concealed. As seen on the Good Housekeeping website, this bespoke home bar, part of our Purley kitchen project, has pocket doors to keep it concealed when not in use. When open, it has a fully stocked bar area beneath a slimline wall-mounted TV. Designed with industrial stainless steel door fronts, it was made at our cabinet workshop in Buckinghamshire. Deborah Taylor attended the Siemens Studio Line Training Day in Wigmore Street yesterday, hosted by Paul Stringer, training manager. A great course, with a super lunch cooked by Paul Cerny, showroom manager and Julie Eaton, training and showroom support manager, with demonstrations of the various cooking programmes, including using the flex element on the hob on its fry setting. Simon Taylor Furniture is a partner with Siemens Studio Line.

Thank you to Rebecca Nottingham, editor of Kbbreview for asking me to write an opinion piece about the subject of Apprenticeships in our sector. I love this industry, and I hope that if we work together, we can recruit more young people to become apprentices. This will potentially address certain skills gaps, and they can earn while they learn.

Making a feature of the original beams, it features glass-fronted cabinets with oak internal shelving to complement. To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we are pleased to announce the date of our second annual APPRENTICESHIP OPEN DAY, taking place at the Simon Taylor Furniture Cabinet Workshop in Bierton, Bucks. between 10.00am to 2.00pm on Saturday 20th April 2024. We are seeking to recruit two new apprentices with an interest in working in the furniture sector to start on a Level 2 Furniture Manufacturer Apprenticeship or a Level 2 Fitted Furniture Installer Apprenticeship on a part work-based, part academic two-year course in association with Rycotewood College in Thame.
