The Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity Midnight Walk is on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June. Xpress has 20 people who will join the ten mile walk overnight. The goal is for employees to raise £3,000 and this will be matched by the company. This will result in a total of at least £6,000.

The Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity provides essential care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across Buckinghamshire and its borders. As a local company that employs local people, Xpress Labels wants to be a positive force in our community; participating in this walk is one way to show these aspirations.

Besides fundraising, Xpress has also helped FNH with free labels for their Forever Flowers initiative at Waddesdon Manor by producing 850 personalised messages that were attached to each of the 850 metal flowers.

Custodians of Aylesbury's rich history of print
Xpress Labels, is a company founded on the same principles and values as Hazell Watson & Viney, a company that has been a vital part of Aylesbury's print history since its inception in 1867. The company, which was once part of the British Printing Corporation, expanded and became a leading printer in the town. After Hazell's closure, JWL Ltd., founded in 1984, took advantage of the town's print talent and aimed to revive the town's reputation as a centre for print excellence.

Xpress Labels has now taken that mantle forward as the key printing company in Aylesbury, which puts the community at the heart of its operation and brings people into the packaging industry. Xpress has had a presence in Aylesbury since 2005, and after acquiring two additional units, we have now tripled the number of local employees. Our company is also a community partner of Aylesbury United Football Club, ensuring the printing trade's survival and future prosperity.

Xpress Labels celebrate Global Recycling Day.
As part of our increasing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and protecting the environment as we grow, Xpress Labels have recruited a Sustainability & Quality Manager to what is already a CSR and Environment focused business.

Phil Metcalfe will take responsibility for maintaining our AA+ BRC certification, improving health and safety, and quality assurance but the main area of responsibility will be managing Xpress Labels CSR and environmental policies, including its drive for B-Corp registration.

We are delighted to announce that Xpress Labels has achieved AA+ grade rating in our first unannounced audit which took place in late August. Confirming our consistent and continuing commitment to Packaging Safety, Quality and Integrity within our business operations.

These BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards) Packaging Audits are undertaken by independent auditing bodies certificated by the BRCGS to verify that our controls, systems and commitment is being achieved throughout the year. ‘Unannounced audits’ mean that an auditor can turn up at our site at any time on any day for an audit lasting at least one and a half days.

This standard is the first certification to be recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), BRCGS Packaging Materials is now in its 6th edition and has become the global industry benchmark. It is not only used by food packaging producers but also by producers of packaging for all applications, across the supply chain.

Commenting on the result, David Ross, Managing Director, said: “We choose this unannounced option to show that we operate to the highest standards every day of the year and not just on one prearranged date. Great news at Xpress Labels! We have added the Domino Printing Sciences K600i to our MPS press, which will expand our variable data printing (VDP) capabilities on the flexo side of our business. This new capability complements what we already have in place on our HP Indigo digital press, which allows us to print VDP including HP Smartstream Mosaic and Collage on the face of the labels.

With the Domino K600i, we now have the added advantage of being able to print VDP on the face of the labels, the reverse side of the labels, specifically on the adhesive side and on the reverse of the backing paper if needed. This flexibility in variable data printing opens new opportunities for personalised and customised labelling solutions for our customers.

Variable data printing is a powerful feature that enables us to print unique content on each label, making your labels more relevant and engaging to consumers. Whether it's for product information, promotions, QR codes, barcodes, or other variable elements, VDP allows us to create tailored labels for different batches, customers, or specific requirements.

Jack Clark, Director of Xpress Labels, went on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this weekend, completing three of the highest peaks in a single day.
Jack and five companions hiked 25 miles across Pen-y-ghent, which has a peak height of 694 metres, Ingleborough, which has a peak elevation of 723 metres, and Whernside, which has a peak elevation of 736 metres, for a total elevation of 2,153 metres.
"It was difficult at times," Jack added, "but you can't plan nice weather, so we simply went on with the task and finished it ahead of schedule."
So far, the team has collected £2,700 for local homeless shelters and hospices in Buckinghamshire.
