Summer can mean more exposure to chlorine from pools, salt from the sea and chemicals from sunscreens or insect repellents. These can weaken your Gel Polish adhesion, potentially leading to chipping or lifting. Where possible, rinse your hands in fresh water after swimming and dry them thoroughly.

*Top tip: apply NAF Stuff cuticle oil to your nails prior to sunscreen or insect repellent applications and prior to swimming. This will act as a barrier to the Gel and help prevent any damage occurring, improving the longevity of your manicure.

Worried that Gel Polish will be thick and clumpy? It doesn't need to be. The first photo is NOT MY WORK but is a result of overlays being repeatedly reapplied without being refined correctly. This results in an unnatural and rather thick look on the nails.

At The Nail Barn, I choose not to apply with this method. I use Builder in a Bottle (BIAB), for those clients that need additional strength, as a strengthening layer (as in the second photo).
