• small greyish-white spots in the mouth

Cases of measles are on the rise.
It may seem like ages away, but if you’re planning on going to college or university this autumn, now’s a good time to check you’ve had two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Students are at increased risk of getting measles because of all the mixing with lots of new people.
For more information on how to check you’re fully protected, visit nhsinform.scot/MMRagainstMeasles

NHS Ayrshire & Arran, in partnership with the Pumping Marvellous Foundation and The Killie Community, is delivering a free Heart Health Event for anyone aged 18 and above on Friday 15 March 2024.
Join our team of staff from University Hospital Crosshouse’s Cardiology department and acute care team, who will be providing free screenings from 10am until 3pm at the Killie Community Hub, Rugby Park, Kilmarnock. Staff from Pumping Marvellous, the largest patient-led heart failure charity in the UK, will also be on hand to give you any information and advice.
This event is open to all adults in Ayrshire and Arran and we would encourage everyone to come along – no appointment needed.
We will be carrying out heart rhythm checks to assess for new atrial fibrillation (irregular heart rhythm), high blood pressure checks and for those with certain symptoms a simple finger prick blood test to measure a heart hormone level for new suspected heart failure. If any follow up is required we will arrange for that to take place at the Crosshouse Cardiac Day Unit and letters will be provided on the day for people to give to their GPs, if needed.

Giving up smoking is one of the best things you can do for your baby. It lowers the risk of stillbirth, early birth or miscarriage, as well as breathing problems in childhood. It is also less likely that your child will become a smoker themselves.
The earlier you stop smoking in your pregnancy, the better. You don’t have to do it alone though.

NHS Pharmacy First is a service which aims to support patients with acute common clinical conditions to receive advice and treatment within a local community pharmacy rather than be referred to another healthcare professional setting. Pharmacists and their teams are experts in medicines and can help with minor health concerns.
To use this service, you must be registered with a GP practice in Scotland or live in Scotland. People who do not live in Scotland cannot use this service (even if they are registered with a GP in Scotland).
You do not need an appointment and you can go to any pharmacy in Scotland. The pharmacist can give you advice for a minor illness and provide medicine if they think you need it.
More information is available on https://www.nhsinform.scot/care-support-and-rights/nhs-services/pharmacy/nhs-pharmacy-first-scotland/
A pharmacist will refer you to the GP practice when they feel that is the more appropriate option to take.
