19 weeks I have been working with now
Can you believe I weigh the same in both pictures?
When I first started working with AJ 12 weeks out of the NBW Classic I was 177lbs and the picture on the left was my first check in with him
Fast forward to yesterdays check in pictures 19 weeks later and im the exact same weight but look a WHOLE lot better
12 of those 19 weeks spent working together I was in a deficit 👀
I guess this is testament to the fact that with a whole lot of effort and precise ex*****on you can make a lot of progress in a short space of time
Building muscle is easy
Eat the food and dont go off plan
Do the training
Get really strong
Get good sleep
And so this for a long period of time
Apply maximum effort across the board and you will grow
It’s not any more complex than this

Yesterdays check in shots
Nothing exciting to report currently, we have been working around some digestive issues recently which has stopped us from pushing food further until it’s under control
I’ve been keeping track of the things I’ve eaten and foods I’m being triggered by so we said goodbye to potato’s and green beans as they were causing the biggest issues 👋
Making sure digestion is on point is soo important regardless of your goal because food is fuel and you can’t run a Ferrari on some dirty diesel
No one wants spot the guy with constant wind either so make sure your eating foods that don’t upset your stomach 💨
Still haven’t had an off plan meal yet since November but AJ has given me the go ahead to have one so now I need to decide what I want
To be honest I’m not really focused on it too much, I’m too busy with Mya just now to think about a 5 guys 😂
My mindset just now is pretty much “if it’s not part of the plan I don’t want it”
I still need to celebrate my 30th birthday so at some point you will find me ball deep in a burger 🍔

These shots were taken this morning and I’m still STUPIDLY peeled despite food being put up and pulling steps back this week
At my mid week check in my scale weight had stayed the same as my stage weight so had advised me to stick to training day food for the remainder of the week
Ideally we want to add another 5-10lbs to my frame in relatively quick succession to really kick start this improvement phase but it’s been difficult due to me taking a fair bit of prescribed rest due to the birth of Mya and me adhering to rest day macros
Today food got increased once again and hopefully by Wednesday we will see things progress and slam in some meat to my frame

Again no visual changes to note and my bodyweight has dropped back down to my stage weight which isn’t what we wanted
We welcomed the gorgeous Mya Coyle into the world and I haven’t trained since Wednesday last week which was planned rest to allow me to enjoy my time as a new dad with Amy and the wee one and make sure I was able to provide support to both them post birth
I’ve been experiencing a fair bit of stomach upset but it’s down to a lack of sleep and higher stress
has asked me to adhere to Training Day calories from now until Sunday even though I’m resting to help push scale weight up and not be so peeled 😅
No other changes to food at this check in and it stays as follows:

There’s nothing much to see in terms of visual changes but things have changed since I stepped off stage for what was THE best weekend at NBW Classic for my first time on stage at an incredibly well run show with
Our goal now is to immediately enter an improvement phase, push calories at the right time to maintain good body composition while packing on new tissue by pushing performance hard in the gym
To put it simply im going to be bulking 😆
I’ll be doing this until I have the right amount of mass to hang with the big boys when I step on stage again

My body is forever changing during prep and things need to be monitored closely to combat fatigue etc so checking in twice weekly helps us do that 👌🏻
Were getting to the point where we will look to check in daily as we begin to peak for the NBW Classic where food, training, water and sodium could all be manipulated to bring the best version to the stage
I’ll leave that part to AJ and I’ll happily just do as I’m told aha
The fat loss part is completed and this back end of prep has been really enjoyable with food being so high allowing me to continue to progress and perform with training
Can’t wait to actually compete now, my feet are getting itchy and I feel as ready as I can be

IS LISTENING TO YOUR BODY HOLDING YOU BACK?
I’ve been dealing with a shoulder injury recently and it got me thinking about the old Jordan
You know the one that was heavily overweight and unhappy with how his life was going❓
Well that guy used to always “listen to his body” and his actions and behaviours revolved around how his body felt
I remember on multiple occasions I’d wake up and if something didn’t feel right maybe feeling a little sniffle I’d take a day off the gym and take it easy 🤧
I’d make myself a warm cup of coffee and sit down with a piece of cake to make my soft a*se feel better
Any injuries or niggles I had I choose not to work around it and instead used it as an excuse to rest 😴
You see I was always looking for a way out of doing the difficult stuff
I would shy away from doing the things I needed to do to become the MAN I wanted to be at any opportunity
Looking back I’m actually upset that I didn’t just get on with it and stop having a pity party for myself
I was excuse champion so I was 🏆
It’s the reason why I struggled to drop the fat and get my rig back for so long 😞
Getting ill or getting injured is pretty sh*t so it is but it’s not the end of the world, there’s still many things you can still do

Stop finding a way to shy from the work you need to do to be a better MAN

This used to be my excuse for not doing what I needed to do to drop the the man b***s and get my rig back
Every time I choose to not go to the gym my reason for not doing so was “I’m just a lazy b*stard”
I’d say it and laugh
Like it was cool
Like it was okay
Every time I “forgot” to meal prep and decided to have a takeaway instead I’d say “I’m just a useless f*ck”
Instead of just taking ownership for my actions I was just having a pity party to myself 🥹
It wasn’t until I took myself and my goals seriously and took ownership for my actions that I ended up making seriously good progress 💪🏼
You see by telling myself I was a lazy b*stard and I was a useless f*ck I started to believe it and I became that guy 🙋🏼♂️
I had to stop all the negative self talk to become the MAN I am today ❌
I had to stop being SOFT with myself
Being a lazy, useless b*stard ISNT cool‼️
Being a lazy, useless b*stard ISNT acceptable when your trying to make mega changes to your physique and performance in and out the gym‼️
I really care about you brother but you have to hear this piece of advice……

Seems like pretty harsh advice but it was the advice that I was given and took action on that helped me drop 5 stone and transform my life after 5 years of trying and not getting anywhere

WAITING FOR MOTIVATION MADE ME FAT
For 5 years I flirted with the idea of dropping 5 stone and saying goodbye to my man b***s for good
During those 5 years I always struggled to get the engine going and keep it running
I truly believed that I was missing 1 special ingredient……
MOTIVATION ‼️
I kept waking up and I was expecting to feel motivated each day and my actions and decisions on that day hinged on how motivated I felt
If I didn’t feel motivated I’d lay on the couch and patch the gym
I repeated this cycle of going to the gym, starting a diet and then falling off as I just didn’t feel motivated
Amy my partner was constantly encouraging me to go and train, stick to my diet but I just didn’t feel like it
One day something clicked
I had been waiting around for motivation to get s**t done for years and it just wasn’t happening
Someone close to me gave me some tough love and said to me….
“Your 5 stone overweight and constantly complaining your unhappy, if that doesn’t motivate you I’m unsure what will no one is coming to save you”
That hurt to hear that but it started something great, I realised that my lack of action wasn’t deserving of feeling good or motivated
Feeling motivated was a by product of me going to the gym, doing the stuff I didn’t want to do and seeing the results
Life’s tough at times but so is being super soft, overweight with a set of t*tties I would know 😅
You just got to get on with it
Focus on taking action based on your vision and what you want to achieve
Don’t act on emotion because motivation is a feeling and it will come and go when it pleases

DELAYED GRATIFICATION GOT ME JACKED 💪🏼
For years I was always rewarding myself for doing small things which made me 5 stone overweight
I would go and train hard then come home for a takeaway
I would eat good for 1 day then reward myself the next by eating junk
I would go a walk to get my steps in then buy coffee and cake while I was out
What the f*ck The as I thinking 🫣
Somehow I thought I was deserving of all these treats and somehow I thought I was going to get awesome results
What I didn’t realise at the time was I was doing more bad than good
In order to achieve my dream result I had to be consistent and DELAY gratification
Having 1 good day or 1 good week WASNT deserving of a McDonald’s
Once I learned to stop rewarding myself & decided to go ALL IN and I focused on the achieving my dream result then I started making the best progress I ever made
I learned that if you have a lot of body fat to lose then you are definitely not deserving of any treats or cheat meals
You’ve got work to do and you will not find happiness in the same place you lost it
I was doing the same old repeated behaviours and expecting better results
Silly me, I was wrong 😑
I want you to learn from my mistakes brother
You can’t have your cake and eat it if you want to get jacked
If you want to continue looking soft and complaining about how unhappy you are with your physique then go reward yourself on a regular basis
Give yourself that pay in the back you feel you need to get through the day just like I used to because I was too soft to suck it up and get on with it
If you want to get super jacked and take your life to the next level please keep the head down, double down and go ALL IN and don’t f*ck about

My standards used to be so low that I ended up 5 stone overweight
I’ve been there many times where I’ve not had the “Perfect” week and I’ve thrown my toys out the pram and went on a 3-4 day binge and started again on Monday
I always struggled to stay out the s**t cycle but I want to share a tip I used to gain momentum and make progress fast 🤝
Using the maximum and minimum standards framework allowed me to perform to the best of my ability and also be accepting of weeks where things didn’t go my way
Regardless if your having a phenomenal week or not you should always look to make progress
Regression and scraping by, surviving shouldn’t even be on your mind 💭
Problem is If you set your minimum standards too low it will definitely hold you back so let’s break it down ⬇️
To give you an idea a minimum standard week is NOT 3 Takeaways, 2 gym sessions & 2000 steps daily 😳
The above is simply not good enough and will guarantee you regress and end up unhappier than where you were before
As an example my maximum standards consist of 5 progressive intense training sessions, 10,000 steps daily, full nutritional adherance, sticking to morning and night time routines for MAXIMAL progression 🚀
My minimum standards are 4-5 completed training sessions, 6-7000 steps daily & 90% nutritional adherence 🫡

I used to look at myself and think that everything in life was good, I was blind to how much weight I actually had gained
You see I had been abusing my body for years at this point and the state I was in became “Normal”
It’s hard to see at the time and admit that my excess eating habits, my lack of hard consistent training, lack of structure, routine and discipline were reckless
Just because I wasn’t get blind drunk, taking drugs or smoking doesn’t mean that what I was doing to my body wasn’t abusive
If we look back at this picture none of what you see is okay

* No Confidence
* Zero Energy
* Constant Back Pain
* Lack Of Training
* Emotional Excessive Eating
* Constant Takeaways
* No Discipline
* Zero Structure/Routine
* Constantly Frustrated/Angry
The list goes on…..
All of the above are NOT normal‼️
How I could possibly live my life like that and say I felt on top of my game and the state I was in is normal
I was lying to myself
None of the above is okay
I want to encourage other men to understand that if you can relate to any of this then there’s a better life worth living

I’ve been the guy that lived comfortably, had poor standards of living and was incredibly soft
I know how that feels
I’ve also flipped all that on its head and now look back and wish I realised how bad things were sooner

THE LOOK INGIVE SOMEONE WHEN THEY SAY THERE TOO BUSY 👀
I used to be the guy that said I was too busy to train, prep my meals, go a walk, spend time with family
Being too busy cost me, I ended up 5 stone overweight, my man b***s were breaking my back and I was constantly arguing with family and friends as I was in such a s**t place
I was personally too busy sitting on my fingers eating a takeaway and playing my PlayStation and scrolling through social media
So there we have it problem solved

Ahhhh sh*t……..
That’s where all my time was going
And that’s why I had a belly and a set of t*ts😆
I used to blame my work for all the time it consumed and that’s why I couldn’t get into the shape of my life
Thing is, your always going to be occupied doing something and life is generally busy so when is the “Right Time?”
Do we wait about until work is quieter?
Do we then put the brakes on when work gets busier again and revert back to the old you again?
Being too busy typically comes down to poor planning and organisation from YOURSELF
Being too busy just screams “Im incapable of standing up, being counted and getting s**t done like a man”
