As we get ourselves geared up for M@C 2024, we reflect on the plight of the English grassroots music festival.
On 25th Feb this year, The Guardian wrote that, “In 2023, the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) reported that one in six UK festivals had ended since the pandemic, numbers falling from 600 to under 500”, even local giants Fairport's Cropredy Convention Official page recently made a heartfelt plea to its supporters to buy tickets and encourage family members and friends to do the same.
We pride ourselves on being the , but times are tough and we too need your support in order to keep going. Since 2001 you have helped us to raise over £100,000 for local and national charities, but with the cost of overheads increasing year on year, it gets harder and harder to make the impact we’d like to.
We think M@C has loads going for it: 19 hours of live music with epic headliners, brilliant beer, tasty food, excellent stall-holders, and kids’ entertainments all set in beautiful surroundings. We think it’s a great deal and we hope you do too.
So, what can you do? Well, it’s simple – buy a ticket! And when you’re on the Brewery field bopping to any of our fabulous bands, buy a t-shirt and a raffle ticket or two!
M@C tickets can be purchased on the gate and are also on sale via Eventbrite, navigate there via our website www.hookymusic.co.uk we look forwards to seeing you soon!
