New toy 'trunk'! 🐘🐘🐘

My brief for this toybox was soft grey and white to match the décor of my customer’s new home, for her little boy who loves elephants! 😍

I cleaned, prepared and sanded the whole piece, primed the wood and finished it in Fusion Mineral Paint 'Little Lamb', a lovely neutral grey for tots!
I stripped the top fully back to raw pine and used several light washes of Fusion Casement to create a gentle whitewash effect on the pine. I added some hand painted cuteness using stencils and my favourite Disney letters, then top coated the entire piece for added durability and protection during playtime 😊 💙

I can’t wait to see the toybox being enjoyed full of toys!

The sun is blazing outside, and I'm in the house painting again 😂
Now that the weather is warmer, I'm moving back into the workshop outside, and turning my old painting room inside into an office/studio for Ricky 🎸🎶.
I'm hoping to get it done this weekend so I can get back to my lovely furniture next week.😍

These bedside cabinets complete my customer’s bedroom set and beautifully accompany the chest of drawers from my previous post. 😍

After removing layers of old chalk paint and preparing the cabinets, I again used my mix of midnight blue and black for a smooth deep navy finish. I chose some smaller gold handles to match the larger drawers handles and added contrasting tropical paper to line them. Their tops have been stripped back and finished with hardwax oil to protect the natural wood, where I also added the navy into the wood detail for a finishing touch.  💙🖤

I’m excited to see the whole set reunited in their home together.  Thank you again Dan and Tom! 😘😘

A bedroom set commission for some friends of mine, and I really wanted to create a classy and smart transformation for them 😍

Delivered into the workshop today is this 3 piece bedroom set, all ready for a new fancy outfit!
First off, we need to remove the old thick coats of grey chalk paint they're already adorned in 🙉 then we can get them all nice and smooth.
My customer is going for deep navy and gold, with a stripped natural top, which will look devine.💙💛

Very difficult to get a good photo when you're working in your customers room, and they're in the middle of decorating too 🤣
But, I'm very pleased with how these two wardrobes have turned out. Dark orange pine turned into a fresh white and crisp finish. The hardware has been finished in silver and new pearl handles added.😍
The wardrobes match the tallboy and bedsides I did for this customer, so she now has a full lovely bedroom set ready for when her room is decorated 🤍🤍🤍

I'm working on site this week at a customers house, doing not one, but two of these huge double wardrobes! 🤩
Life is so much easier with my trusty workhorse, my Festool dustless sander. Means I can sand safely in situ without compromising health and a dusty aftermath 🤍💚
Pretty sure all three of us would blow away if I had to work outside! Is this wind ever going to quit?! 🍃🌪️

A lovely commission piece for a new customer of mine, and one that required a fair bit of work before I could even get my brushes out! (I do like a challenge!)🤣

This bureau was such a dark old piece needing some TLC and a new lease of life. My customer wanted it finishing in a dark navy but wanted to retain some of the original wood if possible as the piece holds a lot of memories. 😍  

It had a few chunks missing and some fair damage to the corners and edges. I repaired these, filled, cleaned, sanded and primed. We chose Midnight Blue for her finish, and once fully painted, I brought out the lovely drawer features and pumpkin feet by dry brushing gold very lightly to accentuate the details. 😊

I was unsure if the wood veneer on the bureau top and pull down-section could be saved due to the damage here and its age, but it was something I really wanted to achieve for my customer. Once the repairs had been made I approached it by taking it back to bare wood extremely carefully and slowly, then brought the newly revealed grain back to life with nourishing hard wax oil and superior finishing wax. I used gold and navy details to finish off the new smooth corners of the wood. ✨ 

I chose a darker gold for the interior shelves and added navy to the interior desk section. I then used a hard wearing topcoat throughout for durability and protection. 💛

The bureau has been topped off with some new bronze Marrakesh k***s from ***stoyourdoor, and the original hinges have been cleaned and spruced up for a finishing touch. As always, my favourite wax nourishes the bare wood runners and interior for a lovely lemon aroma. 🍋

I’m so happy with this transformation and excited to see this being used again back in its home!

Here she is in all her glory, a beautifully restored vintage Stag Minstrel 6 drawer console table, complete with matching stool. You may have seen some of the process that has gone into this table’s makeover in my recent stories and reels.

Being a Stag piece of furniture, she is solidly built and made to last. As always, she has gone through the full Little House of Steffy preparation process. Once she was fully cleaned, sanded and primed, I chose Fusion Chateau as her finish, a sophisticated warm neutral, then hand-finished gold borders and dipped feet using to accentuate the classic shape of the table. The gold border is complemented by a matching gold edge that runs round the centre of each drawer. 💛

For an extra touch, I prepared and finished the accompanying Stag stool using the same colour palette.😍

To enhance the new colours, I added a gold damask paper to the interior of the drawers and used a complimenting fabric to finish the stool.✨

With her original Stag brass handles now cleaned and polished she is ready to travel to her forever home.😊

No need to worry about small slippages as she is water and stain resistant due to her additional topcoat.

Lemon Myrtle beeswax nourishes the raw wood and smells divine. 🍋

A beautiful and iconic piece who is ready to adorn your home. ♥️

Hello! A belated Happy New Year! 🎉
I've been battling the dreaded Covid for the last couple of weeks, it finally took me down! 😷🤒
I'm coming out the other side now and feeling much better, so I've decided to get stuck in with this beautiful Stag Minstrel 6 drawer console table.
She's a beautiful example of the renowned Stag furniture. Solid build, well made, dovetail joints and a timeless shape. She's also in superb condition. This brand was built to last. 😍
She's been cleaned and sanded, all ready for her first coat of primer before her new finish. I'm thinking modern and classy for this furniture icon 😊

Time for tea?! 🍲☕🍰💙

So, I think this might be the coolest and cutest piece I have ever worked on! 😍

I was asked to customise this new Duktig Children’s play kitchen from Ikea. My customer wanted this basic and plain kitchen transforming into a copy of her own kitchen for her little girl….and here’s the result!💙

As you will have seen in my previous post, I built the kitchen up from scratch. It was much simpler to see how it all fitted together and much better to paint all the individual pieces before assembling. I feel like I know these little kitchens inside out now! 🛠️

I’ve added mini battery-operated LED gold downlighters as I noticed they were present in the kitchen I was replicating, I then cut and added a backboard as I wanted to replicate my customers herringbone tiled wall. Another finishing touch I chose to do was use an adhesive vinyl to replicate the marble effect worktop, and I also made the back of the cupboards gold. 🌟

The primer I use is made from a natural soya alkyd to bond to hard-to-paint surfaces, and I use Frenchic paint and sealer for my children’s pieces/toyboxes as all their paints are EN71-3 certified so safe to use on children’s furniture and toys. I blended a mixture of Hornblower and Blackjack on this to create a rich dark blue. I used Frensheen in Gold on the taps, sink and handles to tie in with my customer’s colour scheme. 💙💛

As this was a piece of Ikea furniture, there were quite a few processes to go through before I even took out my paintbrush. You can read more about this in my previous bedside tables post. But it is totally worth it to get a durable and hardwearing finish, especially for something fun like this that is going to be played with a lot! 🥰

I wish I’d had something as grown up and stylish as this to play with when I was a little girl. I’ve been getting so excited putting it all together! I hope she loves the play kitchen as much as I have loved working on it! 💗💗💗

Firstly, sorry I’ve been a bit absent on here, I’ve not been too well recently (perhaps it was the shock of me appearing in actual videos for Instagram!🤣) …….but, I’m feeling much better and I now have a few lovely projects to share with you. 😍

First up, here’s a nice project I’ve recently done. Originally these were bright white Ikea style bedside tables. You might notice that these now match the built-in wardrobes that I worked on a few weeks ago. I followed the same process as the wardrobes (documented in my earlier post and in my highlights reel) and I love the fact we now have a matching set of bedroom furniture! The lovely dark soft grey and brushed chrome handles on these 3 matching pieces have totally transformed our new bedroom. 🤍😍

Ikea furniture can be tricky to paint due to the factory coating it has on it, but it is totally possible! Without the proper preparation and primer, paint will just not adhere properly to the coating, and it will either slide off or chip very quickly, (its designed to repel most things in everyday life!). The adhesion primer I use is specially made for these sorts of slippy surfaces and coupled with the thorough preparation and cleaning that I do on every piece, along with a durable topcoat, guarantees a long lasting and hard-wearing finish. 😊

Before and After! 🔄
As promised, here's the before and after of the kitchen makeover I've been filming this week 😍 (the videos with more detail can now be found in my highlights reel). 🎥

I removed the handles and doors and the entire unit was thoroughly cleaned and degreased using sugar soap. Once rinced and dry, I lightly sanded the doors and frame to provide a key for the paint, then vacuumed and removed the dust with a cloth.
Following 2 coats of paint, left to dry overnight, I reassembled the doors and attached new handles for a clean, modern look. I finished the whole kitchen with Finishing Coat as an extra layer of protection against any kitchen moisture or marks. ❤️

I love the neutral colour of Cool Beans. It ties in nicely to the new wall colour and freshened up tiles. A lovely fresh new kitchen at a fraction of the cost of a new kitchen 😊

Before and After! 🔄
As promised, here's the before and after of the built in wardrobe makeover that I filmed last week! 😍 (videos with more detail can now be found in my Instagram highlights reel). 🎥

I removed the handles and doors and the entire unit was thoroughly cleaned and degreased using a degrease and sugar soap. Once dry, I lightly sanded the mahogany laminate to provide a key for the paint, then vacuumed and removed the dust with a cloth. For a belt and braces approach I then used a coat of Zinsser BIN primer which I had tinted grey at my decorators merchants, to ensure the paint adhered to the surface.
Following 2 coats of paint, left to dry overnight, I reassembled the doors and attached new handles for a clean, modern look. The glass doors were then covered with a frosted patterned film to finish off the look. ❤️

Now that the carpets are finally down, we have a lovely walk in wardrobe area without the cost and mess of having new units fitted!
I'm so pleased with them and I truly love what I do, from the business side and the pieces I upcycle for my customers, to reinventing furniture for my own home.

Here she is in all her glory, a beautifully restored oak dresser, complete with mirror and stand. If you've been following my stories and reels recently, you will have seen a lot of the process that has gone into this lovely dresser's makeover from start to finish 😍 (before picture in my previous post).

She has received lots of love, care, and attention! After some initial repairs to the framework, the beautiful oak was stripped back and revealed on the two drawers and stretcher, then treated to a lovely pale matt varnish to protect and enhance the gorgeous woodgrain. Next, I chose Lichen for the cabinet, a soft grey-green, then hand-finished in gold to accentuate the decorative details around the legs and mirror stand. Finally, for extra pizzaz, I embellished the carvings on the drawers using the same colour palette.🌟

To enhance her new colours, I added a William Morris paper (Golden Lily), which matches the interior of the drawers.🌸

With new brass handles and the original mirror brassware cleaned and refitted, she is ready to travel to her forever home.❤️

No need to worry about small slippages as she is water and stain resistant. 😊
