It’s official!

We have secured funding for a PA system for Bike Fest 2024, courtesy of the GMB union.

We are now on the lookout for bands to perform on the day for slots of about one hour or 20/30 minutes. So if anyone knows any bands email [email protected] with details.

📍 Brierley Park (3pm-5pm)

Ramp Up is an informal and relaxed session with the aim to get more young people to enjoy cycling and scooting for fun. It also increases physical activity and helps encourage cycling and scooting for active travel. Bikes, scooters, helmets and ramps are all provided! 🛴🚲🛹

These sessions are FREE! Parents or carers will need to sign up their children before they can take part. This will only be needed once and then covers all Ramp Up sessions. Children under eight need to have a parent or carer with them for the session.

OUTDOOR CINEMA - SHAFTON 🎥 🍿

Over the last week or so we’ve been asking you to vote on which 2 films you’d like to see at the FREE outdoor Cinema in Shafton.

The Greatest Showman (Sing-a-long) (PG) and Roald Dahl’s Matilda (U), we’re the chosen favourites. A total of 542 of you voted which is amazing for a first event 👏

They’ll be lots of Food and Drink options available on the day, but we also encourage you to bring your own picnic. 🍔🌭🥪🥤🍦

Also, please bring your own chair or picnic blanket to sit on.

🚗 There is no parking on site on the day and so you are actively encouraged to walk, get dropped off or use public transport (limited spaces for disabled)

BMBC Ramp It Up - Mobile Skate Park (Bikes & Scooters brought by the team)

• Tuesday 15th August - Great Houghton Park

• Tuesday 22nd August - Grimethorpe, Love Life Sports Ground (Will run alongside the Graffiti Arts Project)

Our summer Healthy Holidays clubs run from Monday 24 July to Friday 25 August 2023.

There's a range of clubs taking place across the borough. Each club includes a range of fun activities for children to enjoy, such as, cookery, arts and crafts, gymnastics, team sports, outdoor activities, and more. A healthy meal will also be provided.

Children who receive benefit-related (means-tested) free school meals are entitled to a free place at all the clubs. They can attend a club every day and places are subject to availability. Please provide your child's free school meals code when booking a place, if you have this.
