If you’re feeling inspired to try judo or even return to the sport we train every Wednesday at 18:45 - 20:30 at Holy Trinity school, Carlton, Barnsley.

Our class is for both adults and juniors with a mix of beginners and experienced players.

We’re a small community club run by volunteers who are passionate about the sport, we love it so much we want to share it with our community!

Kids class £2 adults £4 (first class free!)

Registration Opens for the 2024 Female Fighters Festival - British Judo The highly anticipated 2024 Female Fighters Festival (FFF) is set to take place on Saturday, 2nd March at the esteemed British Judo Olympic and Paralympic National Training Centre.

Another great session this week down at Barnsley judo club with coach Nigel Clynes.

This weekend our coaches will be taking part in their first aid and safeguarding training.

Anyone is welcome down at our club, and without our members we wouldn’t have such a wonderful team! If you’re thinking of giving it a go, just come down! ☺️🥋💪

We’re a family friendly club (so you can even bring your kids along!)

Come join our club and be part of a team, with friendly weekly training sessions, we have mixed abilities, and mixed age groups so you won’t feel out of place!

Today our junior team have been to Concord Judo Club for a competition. Bringing home 2 golds and 3 bronze! 👏👏

🥋 ATTENTION PARENTS!! 🥋

It’s now the Easter Holidays for most of us and we know you’ll be looking for activities for the kids.

Barnsley Judo Club is offering free training sessions for kids during this half term break. If you’ve been thinking about attending judo or looking for a new activity, this is a perfect opportunity for you.

Judo is a great sport and self-defence, this supports physical health and self-confidence. It’s fun way for kids to be active in the community, and you can even join in by their side in the senior team!! 😁🥋

Nottingham Red Belt Rumble - British Judo

The Red Belt Rumble is coming up in Nottingham in a couple of weeks so our juniors have been practicing hard tonight. It’s fun but they have some serious game faces on!

Onwards and upwards for Barnsley Judo Club. Tonight we had to put out 8 more mats to accommodate everyone. New seniors and juniors, men and women all having fun and getting fit together. We have a great big hall though, so don't think we are full! Come and give it ago we have loads more mats!!

We meet at 7pm on Mondays at Kirk Balk Hoyland or at the 7pm on Thursdays at Holy Trinity Carlton.

By the way do us a favor and give us a like and share to get the word out!

Judo tonight has been a bit different. We’ve been emphasising safety so it’s been great to see the juniors and seniors working together on their Ippon Seoi Nage (one arm shoulder throw). Some fantastic throws and grinning judo players with everyone taking care of each other, making sure that their partner lands cleanly on their back.

Back into the swing of things tonight at Holy Trinity and fantastic to see new faces and new belts.

Some food for thought if you are considering your New Years resolutions for next year. Humans suck at giving things up, in fact 80% of resolutions fail! So don’t give up things for your resolution, take something up instead. Judo is perfect, have fun, get fit, compete (or not), grade (or not) and all in a completely safe and extremely welcoming environment.

In fact why wait for 2018, if you are in or around Barnsley come along on Monday to Kirk Balk or Thursday to Holy Trinity and make a resolution that you can keep.

This is what awesome looks like. Our juniors sporting their hard earned medals in this weeks Barnsley Chronical after the comp in Goole.

A fantastic turn out tonight also, lots of very welcome new faces.

Just track suit bottoms and a T-Shirt, we have plenty of jackets and belts to loan. You just need to be willing to give it a go and we guarantee you will go home grinning from ear to ear!
