⚽️🧡 Houghton Main Juniors - Orange vs Wisewood 🧡⚽️ On Sunday we travelled to Dorothy Hyman for our home fixture as weather wouldn't permit a game on home soil! Houghton started the game exceptionally and we dominated play throughout the first half, looking extremely comfortable in possession and managing to get on the scoresheet after numerous chances! However during the first 5 minutes of the second half we found ourselves in a predicament, falling behind through a series of unusual consecutive mistakes! This being said the boys never gave up and through sheer hard work, belief and tactical genius, our boys managed to secure another win at the final whistle! The game was a fantastic spectacle to have witnessed and to be involved in for all, players, parents and coaches! A special mention goes out to Wisewood and all involved at their club for their continuous support and kind words throughout! ⚽️🧡⚽️ HMFC Oranges vs Ecclesall ⚽️🧡⚽️ Today we came up against a new outfit in Ecclesall Rangers! Houghton showed that they were the superior side and had the greater of the chances throughout the game, however we weren't at our best to say the least! A strong performance by our defence ensured that we came away with the win at the full time whistle! The videos on display captured a couple of chances where we threatened Ecclesall's goal!
🧡⚽️🧡 HMFC vs Pen*stone Whites 🧡⚽️🧡 Today we travelled to the memorial ground in Pen*stone to play their U9 Whites in what turned out to be a very one-sided affair! Houghton finished the game as 9-0 winners with some fantastic goals on display and again managing to keep a clean sheet! From the first whistle we displayed complete dominance in all areas of the field and showed high levels of confidence and competence, gaining a comfortable lead after the first 15 minutes! We are under no illusion that Pen*stone were at their best and they weren't able to field their strongest 7 players throughout, however of those threats which they did carry, we were able to nullify instantly! This is not taking anything away from Houghton's team performance which was pretty much flawless against a strong Pen*stone side! 🧡⚽️🧡 CHAMPIONS 🧡⚽️🧡 Today the boys travelled to Doncaster Rovers FC and the Eco-Power stadium for the U9s tournament! They dominated their initial group phase finishing top with 4 wins out of 4 and as a result were placed into the World Cup group with the top 4 teams of the tournament! After a round-robin of games, our results saw us finish on the most points and crowned CHAMPIONS having not conceded a single goal all day! ⚽️🧡 HMFC vs Rotherham School Boys 🧡⚽️ We invited Rotherham School Boys to Middlecliff Lane on Thursday evening in what turned out to be a competitive affair! It was a great feeling to be back on home turf, the sun shining, drink in hand for the spectators! Below is a short passage of play from the game where Houghton were increasing pressure on Rotherham, showcasing our skillset and passing ability! The end of the game saw a very fair 2-2 draw with Rotherham having the better of the chances over the duration of the game but Houghton worked hard to keep them at bay! A great game overall for those involved and thank you to Rotherham School Boys for the game!
