Dodworth Miners Welfare B.C
Crown Green Bowling Club in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Now we've had time to rest and recover after the long day yesterday, all at Dodworth would like to congratulate Richard Jackson on walking away as the new Champion and Winner of the Brian Reed Memorial 2024. Commiserations to Tom Silcock, a very worthy runner up who played outstanding all day.
The day went fantastically well despite a very wet start to the day, we eventually got some blue sky and sunshine to finish the day.
A few late alterations but nevertheless, on the day we ended up with a very strong field attracting bowlers from far and wide with a great days bowling on display. From all of us at Dodworth we would like to say Thank You for your support of this competition in memory of Mr Dodworth himself, an all round great gent who is sadly missed around the greens.
We would like to thank our superb green keepers, Nigel & Tracy Mcdermott, who put an incredible amount of time and effort into our greens. All we heard all day was praise and compliments, nothing but positive feedback and rightly deserved for the immaculate playing surfaces they had prepared for us.
Thank you to our sponsors J Wallis Metals and Enterprise Garage. Your generous donations meant we paid out Β£1560 in prize money.
And of course a thank you to our very own Chairman, Tom Marsland, who put his own money into sponsoring the highest break which was shared by Ian Wassell & Nick White, both with breaks of 15.
Thank you to our fabulous ladies in the kitchen and The Tappers Bar, keeping all of us fed and well watered all day.
Thank you to all of the club members that helped ensure the day ran as smoothly as possible. It is a thankless job that often goes unnoticed. Whether it be setting games off, finding card markers, measuring you all played your part in the days success. Thank You to everyone that helped throughout the day, without you we wouldn't be able to do what we do!
Apologies if we have missed anyone, we can't thank you all enough.....See you all next year π€

This rather hot and sweltering afternoon saw our Vets A team take on Darfield Park, in the Barnsley Vets Double final, at the glorious suntrap that is Darton.
