North Devon Jules
I'm Jules. I live in beautiful North Devon UK. I'm promoting this beautiful vacation location.
Today, we went to Watermouth with a stop in Hele Bay on the way through. I took a quick pic of the seaview from Ilfracombe High Street.
It's "No Mow May" at the moment, so all the hedges and verges are a riot of colour, this is the wall by the swimming pool in Ilfracombe really beautiful fushia hedge and the gorgeous pink flower before they are trimmed in June.
Hele Beach was a hive of activity with paddle boarders , kyackers, and swimmers. 2 boat trips went by, and Sean was in the boat collecting from his fishing pots.
The last picture is on the way to Watermouth. The Coastguard Cottages are lovely and have an enviable outlook.
This is the wreck we walked around to yesterday evening. It has sunk into the sand alot since we last visited. The sides used to be covered in some lovely graffiti art, but even this has almost disappeared beneath the rising sand. Still lovely to see the changes and the amazing 360Β° views.
The jellyfish is the biggest I have ever seen, it must have been half a meter across!!
Ilfracombe Harbour at a high Spring Tide
Went for a stroll down The Strand today to look at the cherry blossoms. Such a lovely part of Barnstaple. Well, worth a visit when you holiday down here π

Here are some more still.photographs this time of lovely Croyde. Some of these were taken at different times. But all showing the beach to its best advantage π
I have lots of still shots in my phone, so here are a few for your viewing pleasure π This is the journey from the entrance to Putsborough Beach down to the actual beach.
Just a few photos of Westward Ho! !
https://www.facebook.com/reel/7785920804754518?s=yWDuG2&fs=e
This is Saunton Beach, the film crew were camped out in a field near us for about 4 months and this is the result. We went to see the movie when it came out expecting more lol.
For all the people who commented on my post of the harbour when the tide was out, this is the harbour with the tide in and it is a Spring Tide!
Another quick reel from our wander New Years Day on Saunton Beach. So many people had the same idea, and if you are quick, you will see Westward Ho! in the distance. That bit of the day was dry and chilly. Even the sky was trying for blue π
So this is my most watched reel on Facebook and the location is the beautiful Ilfracombe Harbour. Anyone surprised? π
This is the statue in honour of the character Tarka the Otter, brought to life in the novel by Henry Wiiliamson. The statue was created by Rowan Fawdon and was unveiled in Bideford 11th March 2017. You can find this statue at the end of the Quay just in front of the long bridge.
I have created a free eBook called 10 things to do in North Devon. Click on the link in my About Page and have it in your inbox in less than 5 minutes π
This appeared on my personal Facebook account this morning. It looks to be a lovely series of talks all available on Zoom to so you don't have to be in Barnstaple to be part of this lovely event
The Ilfracombe RNLI doing their thang. There has been a Lifeboat station in Ilfracombe for the past 180 years. They have conducted many rescues in this time. At the top of Capstone Hill, there is a little church that serves as a Lighthouse. The waters around North Devon are treacherous with all the rocky outcrops and are well known as such.
This is a working watermill in Ilfracombe. You can find it in Bicclescombe Park. The park has Green Flag status and has had for the past 19 years. There is a cafe with plenty of coffee and cake! The Waterwheel was restored back to working order in 2018.

Hello, I don't usually post unless personally acquainted with the thing I am posting about, but I have been asked to promote a band gig at the Queens Theatre. The link is below, Enjoy π
Money For Nothing - The Landmark Ilfracombe and Queen's Theatre Barnstaple Money for Nothing was formed in 2000 as a tribute to one of the worldβs premier rock bands β Dire Straits. The abundant energy and the excellence and musicality of their performance makes Money For Nothing a βmust seeβ for any rock enthusiast or Dire Straits fan.
I am just going to post this today. It is the view through a Porthole window of Widemouth Bay North Cornwall, so pretty. I think I might look for shapes to take all my photos through!! The restaurant who owned this window is called the Bay View Inn
Don't suppose anyone remembers PlaySchool on the TV and looking through the windows? Nope? Just me then lol. I love these snatches of view through the shapes in the gate.
This is the Burton Art Museum in Bideford. You can visit and see the latest exhibition, which at the moment is a sculptural exhibition exploring the human form. There is a gift shop, and there are various activities, including one 8 to 13 year old, creating a cardboard portrait. Another is the opportunity to create a Sgraffito Narrative Bowl. Lots to see and try, really worth a visit whilst you are on holiday. It is warm and dry inside, too!!
You can see Hillsborough from the harbour and you can walk over the top to Hele bay . When you stop on the top and look back you get the most amazing views of Ilfracombe. The hill viewed from this side looks like sleeping elephant. You can't quite see that on this photo but if you look back through my posts to my video of Verity you can see it clearly.
It has been a cold, wet grey few days. I found this photo to post of the view you would see walking over the old bridge from the Seven Bretheren car park. The buildings in the photograph are some of the oldest in Barnstaple. Behind these are some even older Almshouses, always something to see in Barnstaple whatever the weather.
