Tonight is The Full Harvest Moon. It is called the Harvest Moon because in September crops that were seeded in Spring are now ready to be harvested. It is the final harvest of the year so crops, fruit and grain would be stored to last through the winter months. The Harvest Moon is very bright, probably the biggest and brightest Moon of the year.
The Full Moon tonight will also be a Supermoon. The Supermoon occurs when the Moon is the closest to the earth more than any other time of the year, making the Moon appear up to 30% bigger and brighter than usual. The Supermoon not only affects nature such as the tides and wildlife it also affects us, our emotions will be heightened, our senses will be sharp, things that were hidden or in the shadows can now be seen. No less than 6 of our fabulous ales won awards at last week’s SIBA Maltingsfest in Newton Abbot. We are super pleased to have won Gold for Fraidnot in the British Cask Bitter category. Plus a silver for our mild, S’mild and another silver for Avocet in the session pale ale category. Our proper lager IPL won a silver then two bronze awards for our kegged pale ale EX1 and our dark bitter MC6. The best haul ever for Exeter Brewery!!
