Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
People will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a provider, family support, friend, spouse...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

After a well earned week off last week, we are chomping at the bit to get back at it tomorrow with some lovely bathroom revamps, repiping of heating systems, quoting (diary now full until the start of May) and looking after a few boilers with some annual servicing. It’s very important to love what you do, and we do love it.

All here, coming going and pedestal going, and a lovely unit going in its place on the adjacent , all and ready for tiling. No sneaky pictures of the first fix because the transformation will once’s it’s , we leave our in the very capable hands of to work their see you in a weeks time. 👊🏻

We recently had a client call after they had smelt gas. They had done the correct thing and called the emergency number located on their gas meter 0800 111 999 and the provider came out and turned the meter off and capped the supply.
We spent 3 hours in total trying to track the leak and repair it. It was hidden behind the back of a kitchen cupboard.
This was caused by the condensate pipe (that all modern gas boilers have) not being installed properly. When the boiler runs the waste water that is produced is acidic, this normally goes straight to a drain or waste pipe and there is never really an issue (unless it freezes when its external, meaning your boiler normally stops working) however this one was leaking onto the gas pipe and had eventually eaten through the copper pipe. This could have been a very different story.

This saw a rip out. The house is one which has poured floors (on the first floor 😳) so the old was placed in a cupboard and all the was run around the of every room on the first floor, with surface mounted pipework feeding downstairs. We placed a new 830 in the garage and new pipework throughout the house. Being fed into the roof space, then into chases feeding the first floor and the a separate chase to feed the ground floor. 🥵. Our wanted a new system and all the pipework hidden in the walls, so that is what they got. All i can say is I was extremely dirty for a few days 🤣, dust extraction was on, but still it was messy. Good job the house was not fully finished otherwise this wouldn’t of been possible. Thankyou Hollie 👌🏻
