The Reception have enjoyed acting out the Easter story this week.
Our final part is, Jesus is risen! Mary Magdalene and another lady went to the tomb where Jesus’ body had been laid. When they got there, they saw that the stone had been rolled away. The tomb was empty. Jesus visited his friends before going to heaven.
The Reception children have been make crosses in the outside environment.
Jesus had to carry a heavy cross through the streets of Jerusalem. Jesus was placed between two other prisoners and died on the cross. His friends and family were very sad.
Jesus and his disciples had a meal together. This is called the Last Supper. Judas told the important people where Jesus was. Jesus was arrested.
The Reception children have been learning all about Palm Sunday.
Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem riding on a donkey. Crowds gathered waving palm branches and shouting, “Hosanna, hosanna the king is coming.”
The nursery children have been retelling the Easter story using props and makaton signs.
Today Father Saji blessed our new stations of the cross mosaics and blessed the children also. The children have been finding out more about Easter as we prepare for Holy Week.
The Wagtail children enjoyed a visit from Eden Oasis. The children enjoyed touching the creatures and learning lots of new information.
The Reception children have been consolidating their understanding of the composition of numbers by investigating the numbers within 7. The children could confidently see that 7 can be made of 5 and 2, 6 and 1, 4 and 3.
📚 World Book Day 📚 the children have had a wonderful start to the day listening to a storyteller and enjoying a hot chocolate and cookie whilst sharing their favourite bedtime book.

Shrove Tuesday - 🥞 Pancake races and tasting! 😋
Year 2 had a fantastic day exploring the Chelmsford museum and getting involved in workshops to find out more about Marconi’s invention, morse code and the Titanic.
🛜 Yesterday the children learnt more about how to stay safe online. The theme this year was “change” and what to do if we don’t feel comfortable with something online. We discussed the SMART with a ❤️ steps to keep safe online, reminding the children of trusted adults who can help if they are upset or worried.
The reception children are always busy mark making in the outside classroom.
Maths ~ our reception children enjoyed playing maths games in their lesson today. The children applied their subitising knowledge in a fun way, deepening their understanding. Importantly, they communicated with their friends, took turns and worked together.
The reception children had a visitor today. Allan from Banardos, he came to talk to the children all about oral hygiene. They played a game about healthy foods for your teeth, learnt a song to help them brush their teeth and talked about what happens at the dentist!
The children have all loved their Christmas parties today. We’d like to thank all our families for the generous food donations!
🎨 🖌️ Super Self-Portraits ~ year 2 have used a variety of techniques as well as technology to help them create their self-portraits. Developing their computing skills to take a clear photograph the children were able to look closely at their faces.
Christmas Cooking Club ~ the children got creative tonight and made Rudolph chocolate treats. 🍫 yum!
✉️ 📮 Letters to Santa 🎅🏻 Our Reception children worked very hard on their letters and were very excited to post them!
Our Reception children visited the church this week to find out more about the special things inside.
📚 Library Time 📚 year 1 enjoyed their visit to the library where they explored the books and sensory area. We are lucky to have amazing local libraries which provide another way to support your child with learning to read and their wider topic learning!
Changing seasons 🍂 in Science Year 1 have been learning about Autumn and how the day length is shortening. It would be helpful if the children could keep a record at home of sunrise and sunset times and see how the daylight hours change.
🕯️ Stay and Pray 🙏 thank you to all of the families who came to Year 2’s special worship. We ask God to help keep our lights burning bright inside us.
🥫🥕 Harvest Festival 🥦🥫 thank you for all of your generous donations. The children sang beautifully today giving thanks to God for the harvest and reminding us of the importance of helping others who are in need.
Year 2’s field trip ~ this week we learnt about features of our local coastline. We found cliffs, jetty’s, piers, marina’s, sand, promenade, mud flats and many more human and physical geographical features. Of course we couldn’t visit the seaside without spending time playing on the beach! The children were all highly engaged with their own exploration of the beach, from digging holes, making sandcastles, hunting for shells and treasure to making mermaids!
🍂 Year 2 have been on an Autumn Senses walk to help them prepare for writing Autumn Poems.
We have enjoyed getting to know our chicks over the last week. They have grown quickly and we are getting ready for them move onto their new, permanent home today. This wonderful experience of new life has taught the children so much.
The Reception children have started their Drawing Club journey, this weeks book is Not Now Bernard! The children were so motivated to participate.
