"Any challange that I will be encountering in the future will only prove to be a gateway of different opportunities for myself"
Freud, Yung, Nietche, Einstien? No your all wrong if you answered yes to one of those it was Maria 15yrs old one of the students I interviewed at Ortu gable hall on wednesday, someone who life has thrown lemons at but this is her response it blew me away and really humbled me.
this was the last sentance in her covering letter and yes she interv iewed that well i told her not only would she have got the job I would have earmarked her for a management role in the future
FLEX Training had the pleasure of helping OrtuGable hall with their mock interview day, as usual a superbly run day well done Kate Merritt and team.
I was impressed by the effort all the students put into the preperation for the day and how well they interveiwed.
some of the answers given and experiences shared were very humbling and we hear so much negativity about young people
but some of these are being given lemons by life and instead of getting bitter they are making LEMONADE .
I wish them all the success for the future well done
had an awesome time today with the young carers going through cv,s interview preparation do,s and donts and mock interviews
they did well as they usually do as the are so gratefull and committed to and for whatever is laid on for them.
if your and employer looking for a worthy cause to support or aid I can tell you this is a worthy cause and good opportuntiy
going to a school in hadleigh to do final 1st aid session.
pleased to say that the students from all 3 units have done really well, asked some really good questions and been a credit to their teachers claire, riyad and mo.
it's been a pleasure
today was my first class as flex training in a local school.. it was interesting and as usual some interesting questions asked and experiences shared.
My thanks to claire for all her hard work in organising this in all 3 centres.
had the honour of teaching a group of parents at the young carers centre.
its always a delight when the students fully engage and I wont name names but one of them had the dirtiest funniest laugh I've ever heard and I'm pleased to say they all passed well done

visited a couple of schools with career ready.

Good morning everyone
yes its been quite a while since i have commented on this page
well what have we been up to you ask?
played santa for the young carerers and shinfield care home in Reading what a hoot that was had to lay on 2 poufees in front of the fantastically sprightly elderly ladies and lots of children and other OAPs the funnt bit was being told just because we are old doesnt mean we dont have a pulse as they pinched santas bottom.
also helped career ready and a couple of schools with their mock interview days
the rest of the time was a sabbatical caring for a relative until their end day which was quiet peaceful and dignified
BUT now we are back and raring to go, looking forward to teaching a group of young carers in barking and dagenham area. always a good time when with these fantastic youngsters
so normal service resumes and if you would like to learn 1st Aid please contact us via this page or on [email protected]

A Good start to the week, spent today doing mock interviews at Ockendon Accademy what a splendid bunch of young adults, they prepared well for the day and it showed in the results, off to Brighton on wedensday to teach a course and then Friday speaking to a group of young people at Harris School about my career begining all those years back and what i aspired to become, how it did not go anything like i hoped BUT became something i loved and did well in reaching higher than i ever thought up to now running my own company .
wishing all pupils good luck on your return to school, and to everyone thats been on their holidays hope they were good times
down to business now, DID YOU KNOW that only 4% of people in the uk know how to deal with a first aid emergency

Flex Training have held two courses this month great bunch of students who all fully joined in making the days more enjoyable, we have also been partaking in school moke interview days, its great to see the high standards that the pupils have attained and if i was employing i would have found four new staff so far and still have 3 or four more mock interview days to carry out.
We are also looking forward to carrying out oour first Duke Of Edinburgh training day at Gable Hall.
well what to say a really good month for FLEX training the course i last posted about went very well and another 9 people became first aiders that day, again thank clff for setting it up.
we have had 1 days mock interviews and more sessions for career ready and continue to see a great improvement amongst the 4 young people we are involved in mentoring, its great to see these kids open up specially since we couldnt get a word out of them to beging with and its amazing that they dont realise how much they have taught me whilst i have been with them.
3 fund raising events planned for thurrock young carers in the next couple of months thanks to Basop for their extreme generosity in giving us some free tickets for their show half a sixpence AND for choosing us as their charity during this show and allowing us to collect on the young carers behalf at every show you are awesome guys, there is a charity golf day being held on the 7th june and i will post more about this on the day. then there is a BUFFOOGGEE ( buffett and Boogie) planned for the 10th august tickets 10.00 and obtainable throuh me more to be posted in next day or two

Also well done to CharlotteLambert and the young carers that completed a run on saturday raising funds for their charity.
what can I say great kids and great staff and volunteers FLEX Training are proud to be part of the good work you do

Have my first booking to teach first aid at a college in London, exciting times for FLEX Training
went to jack hornsby school this week to help deliver some career ready masterclasses, what fun had to do some mass improvisation and it worked, they students were good examples and represented their school well, asked some interesting questions and when i asked my usual question about why i could not join the army apart from did you not have enough qualifications or were you ot fit enough one young man was brave enough to ask was it because you had a disability, the first person to ever do so and it was yes because of my bad ears but i complimented him on being brave enough to ask the question.
but scary when i asked how do you deal with a choking person and one young lady said you stick a pen it their throat, technically a good answer but only if your trained to the level. fianlly i gave my age away as i said wasnt hornsby a train set
FLEX Training would like to say thanks to everyone on yesterdays course , you made it a delight and even better you all passed well done
Another great days training, a small group but what a good time was had by all.
the thing is you see the outside of a person nor knowing the inner person and the struggles they may face.
one person on the course apprears extremely confident, excellent at what they do brilliant at organising things, but had a personal battle of their own that they confront on a saily basis and i never knew until today and guess what they went up an mile higher in my estimation of them
as an old indian saying goes(american indian) dont judge a man until you have walked a mile in their shoe( cant spell moccas.....s)
off to the Chelmsford club today for another course, love this job different people every time keeps the brain cells going
Busy putting together a proposal for a local school, exciting times. both courses in febuary are near full as well
After some consideration I have decided to put my money where my mouth is and as well as raisng funds and awareness for thurrock young carers I am going to apply to become an official volunteer with them.
also have first of this years mock interview days booked for april.
exciting times , as well as running two courses this month 23rd feb chelmsford club chelmsford ans 22nd feb at the whitmore arms orsett, please contact me if you are interested in learning a valuable life skill
THURROCK YOUNG CARERS what can one say....
first of all we went to their christmas party, to walk through the doors to see approx 100 YCs and their parents having a great time dancing and their joy when santa arrived was an image i will carry for a long time,NEXT the southend panto which thanks to peoples generosity enabled 44 young carers and their escorts to see jack and the beanstalk( an excellent panto)
first of all we arrived to be shown downstairs to the restaurant, with our own team of waiters/ wiatressess to be served a lovely two course meals numerour faces covered in chocolate cake.
then upstairs to our seats which were in a super place regarding veiw etc, then the show began, 44 youngsters and adults shouting at the baddy cheering the goodie and screaming at the scary parts with an ice cream at the interval and a bag of sweeties( youngsters only to nick a certain credit cards tag line it was PRICELESS so thank you to cliffs pavillion, west and coes, tescos and the nameless people who donated you made a memory for then that will last for ages so a big thank you from me and a big thank you from them.
well what have we been upto for the last month or so?
two successfully completed courses, several sessions with carerer ready in local schools which went well and one career fare last night, two mock interview days booked already and had a great meating with a head teacher at a local school to discuss their needs re first aid for teachers and pupils now to do a proposal ,
other irons are warming up nicely so heres to the future and you reap what you sow.
now to comment on the young carers side of things.
Well what can I say about today, it was my very first course for barking and dagenham young carers vbt with a twist it was for parents of children with many varied illnessess and other issues.
what a wonderfull bunch they were we has such fun learning a serious subject and they all shared their different experiences and first aid they had had to carry out at different times.
1 solitary man apart from myself led to some amusing moments and one lady gave us a practical demonstration of radiation burns when she made a comment and then went sooo red we could all feel the heat,
as usual i enjoyed having a group that alll joined it and contributed so thank you for all making my job easier and I look forward to working with you all again, wish i had taken so photos.
