Is your Grooming Kit in need of a refresh???
After a few month grooming swamp monsters and land hippos who like to bring most of the field back in with them its time to give those grooming kits some TLC and a mini spa day.
You can do this really quickly and easily. I just grab a couple of old towels and 2 buckets off hot water, add in some horse shampoo to one of the buckets and drop in all the brushes.
I leave them to soak for 2 / 3 minutes and then use a curry comb to give each one a scrub. Then drop them into the other bucket of hot water for a rinse.
After they are all done I give a give quick rinse out with more water and then put bristles down on one towel. After about an hour i give them a rub with the other towel and again leave them bristles down on the towel to fully dry overnight.
With the grooming bag I have a Tidy Tack one (of course 😜) and I just give this a shake out and pop through the washing machine. Done!!!!!!!
You can check the grooming bags out on the website, just tap the shopping bag icon on the photos for full details.

How much stuff do we really need???
Now this is a serious topic for debate, how do we know how many rugs is enough? How many saddle pads should I keep? Do I need to collect things? Does having lots of stuff make me a better horse owner? Am I neglecting my horse by only having 2 rugs? Should I have a matching ear veil for every saddle pad?
The list is endless and when that little voice gets in your head you can be questioning ALL your decisions, it only takes one throw away comment for you to start worrying if you are doing it right.
Well here is the answer
ITS WHATEVER SUITS YOU AND YOUR HORSE
Say it louder for the folkes in the back - there are different ways of doing things, and seeing someone else do it differently doensnt make you wrong and them right or visa versa.
If you love having a large matchy collection go for it - just make sure its for you and not because you feel you need to prove your worth or carve an identity as being the collector.
If you are not interested in gear, dont worry it doesnt make you a bad owner, or a worse rider.
All our horses are individual personalities and what works for one wont necessarily work for another. You know your horse and your lifestyle, so do what suits you both and dont change to conform to other peoples idears of perfect.
if you do want an idea of the necessary kit you need, head over to the website and read the latest blog with a list of essentials for keeping you and your horse happy and healthy.
i will finish with the following PSA There is no limit on the amount of saddle pads needed.........................
Slowly getting off my soapbox now - got to watch those knees 😜

DOOM Piles - The Solution
So DOOM is the acronym for Didn't Organise Only Moved - so the solution is to organise.............. if only it were that easy!!!!!!!
Now there are a few reasons why these piles accumulate, but one of the biggest reasons is when you do a huge tack room clear out in one go.
We have all been there, we start off with great intentions, empty everything out, realise how much stuff we have, start putting it back, loose the will to live and just start chucking things in random places. This is why its far better to organise in stages and take your time - yes its a much longer process, but it is much more sustainable and has a much higher success rate of staying organised.
Another reason the DOOM piles occur is simply because you have too much stuff. Yes space is often very limited on yards, especially livery yards. Its comes down to a choice you have to make - you get the space or the stuff!!!!
Now there are lots of solutions and fabulous bags (see what i did there!!!) you can use to stop DOOM Piles, as this post is getting rather long, I'm going to put it all in blog on the website for you to peruse at you leisure.
MY NO 1 TIP is declutter and organise BEFORE you BUY ANY STORAGE.
I know buying the storage is exciting and motivating, but if you don't declutter and organise you won't have the right storage for keeping you tidy and you will be storing stuff you don't need.

DOOM PILES
Didn't Organise Only Moved
Ok hands up ☝️ who has these areas of stuff, that has nowhere to live so gets chucked in the pile?
You think I will deal with that later and add to the collection, which never gets sorted and grows bigger and bigger, than a new pile gets started somewhere else.
After a while you get fed up of the clutter and decide to have a big clear out / tidy, only to find a few weeks later the piles are building back up!!!!!
Common areas for these piles are outside the stable area - usually a trunk / box gets added at some point and everything is just chucked in and finding anything involves a good rummage. Despite repacking and going through the box it still just seems unorganised.
Another popular equestrian DOOM pile is the car, saddlepads thrown it to be taken home for washing, damp coats, muddy boots, usually a dog bed/blanket, riding clothes, gloves, lunch wrappers and thats before we look at the kids contribution.
Where are your DOOM piles? Comment below and check back tomorrow when we share some solutions to get you Tidy and keep you Tidy.

Welcome to the home of a Tidy Tack Room
Welcome to Tidy Tack Rooms, we firmly believe life is easier when its organised. Horses come with a lot of equipment, and more often than not we do not have enough space to store it all. Many of us are on Livery Yards in shared Tack Rooms with a very small amount o space to call our own. This can lead to us having to store equipment everywhere - some at the yard, some in the garage, some in the loft - most of it in our cars. Things get lost or broken, and after a good tidy up we often find we have duplicates of most things as we replaced what we couldn't find.
Our aim at Tidy Tack Rooms is to help you with everything tack room related, we want to help you to get everything organised and easy to locate when needed. Not just at home but away too, whether thats on holiday or out competing.
We have sourced amazing products that are not only beautiful but functional as well. They are all incredible quality that is designed and made to last in the environment they are being used it. They will stand the test of time (and horses) and look good whilst doing so. We only stock products that we use ourselves and truly believe in. All of the products have been designed by riders for riders.
The basis of our business is customer service. We recognise that the most important part of a business is the customers. As well as offering amazing products we also have free packing lists, the Tack Room Hacks blog and how to videos for things like folding a combo rug and drying wet rugs.
