A lot of modern cars have some ‘AUTO’ light function, but they are never as good as human decisions.

Never rely on them, and override them when you feel needed.

Also remember you don’t just need lights to see where you are going, but to help people see you. So remember modern cars with daytime running lights don’t have lights on the rear of the car, they only come on when you put dipped headlights on.
